  • The Reverend Professor Paul S. Fiddes, one of today's leading scholars of theology and literature, spoke on C. S. Lewis and Thomas Traherne in the Bakke Audtiorium of the Marion E. Wade Center on January 24, 2017. Dr. Fiddes is Professor of Systematic Theology, University of Oxford and Director of Research, Regent's Park College. His most recent book is "Seeing the World and Knowing God: Hebrew Wisdom and Christian Doctrine in a Late-Modern Context."

    This is a truly wonderful lecture! Returning to it just for enjoyment, after once again returning to Traherne. Professor Fiddes does a great job of bringing out both the commonalities and differences between Lewis and Traherne on desire.

    Traherne is the mystic for me. This video is a beautiful exposition of the relationship of the thoughts of Wordsworth, C.S Lewis and Traherne. But for me Traherne is the greatest of these.
