My sister and I divided our last (second in 2 days) dumpster produce haul between 4 families and are dehydrating some of the 40 or so lbs. of bananas, some strawberries and mangoes as I write this!I think youve helped create 3 dumpster diving addicts! My nephew's wife...my sister and I cannot wait to go back on Tuesday!!!

I still can't get over it. So many people can't afford to eat healthy and we are throwing all this food in the trash. This is the best haul yet, in my opinion. 😎
It make me sad because we have to choice some days between groceries and bills.

I ABSOLUTELY love you guys!😊 I solo dive ☹️ my local Aldi once a week, thanks to both of you. It’s just unbelievable what they toss but I am very grateful. It is allowing me to build a food supply stock for my pantry and freezers. I use my dehydrator for most of the fruit and am going to teach myself how to water bath can now! I solo dive also (female over 50.. hoping my comment will give more single women encouragement to try it) SoO grateful - I have so much that I'm now able to donate to our local helpline.. it's my new addiction and it's exciting to help others also. PS I currently have mushroom/onion/pepper/italian seasoning roll ups (tortilla style) in my dehydrator for pizza flavor artisan wraps! All freegan dumpster finds. YAY!!

I absolutely love the fact that you all are rescuing wasted food. Anouther idea if the fruit is over ripe you can freeze them for smoothies so they don't waste. We love doing that with over ripe pineapple and and bananas also we are looking into the laws here in Texas to see if we might try to rescue some wasted food as well. You guys are great. 😂 I was commenting while watching you already have that idea.

I started dumpster diving at my Aldi about a month ago and only bought a watermelon since. I’ve gotten all the fruit and veggies we’ve needed. Plus I’ve been giving fruit and veggies to a mom and her 6 kids and a 82 year old women from the dumpster to. They are so happy to get all the food. They found it hard to believe I’m getting all that good food from a dumpster.

I've watched several of your videos. It makes me feel like I want to cry to see the amount of fruits and vegetables you find in dumpsters when kids are eating garbage for school lunch. I don't know what the state laws are / policies are for stores to have a partnership with food banks, but if the stores are not allowed to have a partnership with food banks, then the least they can do is have a partnership with school districts so that kids can eat healthy food during lunch time. And right now, there's been some stories in the news about kids (or maybe I should say parents) being in debt with schools due to the cost of school lunch. I'm thinking if stores partnered with schools / donated food to schools, it might help schools save money in addition to helping with the cost of school lunches.

Thats insane you found so much perfectly good food in a dumpster. I’m glad you guys are saving it from the landfill. It should be illegal for businesses to throw food away like this. You’re so right, you go to one dumpster out of how many in the country. It blows my mind to think about the amount of waste.

Frozen grapes are popsicles in our house. We get bananas all the time when we dump shop. I hate to see all them in the garbage. The bananas come into port near our old house & a few family members drive for the banana distribution. We also had a rice company near us too.
My son will not eat a banana unless it HAS the brown spots on it.
Have you ever tried oatmeal banana cookies. There is no need for eggs or sugar. Absolutely wonderful tasting.

I completely admire you! Dumpster diving doesn't seem to be practical where we live but I've done it and would have no reservations about doing it again. My disdain for waste far surpasses any fear I might have about germs or ridicule.
The struggle is real.. I have a jar of pickles in my fridge and a box of buckwheat in my pantry at the moment...
I know. I live in a twenty foot camper that usually has no food at all! I live on my sister's property but they are gone almost all the time and the house is locked. No key! They stay gone all day! I am probably going to be walking in to town tomorrow if the weather permits to dumpster dive. I pray it is full and that there is something edible that is still good and unopened.

@@freakinfrugal5268 ahh hun that's so sweet, when I said before about I'd be proud to be a friend or a neighbor, that's exactly why, you care, you have compassion and I personally agree with alot of how you view things (I had twins too, back in 99)... I used to dumpster dive myself.. (I'm OCD with waste, drives me insane!) But I haven't in a long time, mostly now due to medical reasons. I recently was hospitalized (on the road go recovery now, trying to stay positive) and just fell on hard times, I have an incredible family who help tremendously, it's just seems to be a tough time for all of us at the moment. If I have learned anything from what life has handed me (and boy are it's hands dirty 😲) is I can survive, we always got threw to the other side, just need to have faith in yourself.. I really do appreciate you offering, I'm way up here near Beantown Boston in lovely Taxachusetts.. so it's not just down the street.. I may be a lil jelly of the abundance in your neck of the woods, round here moreso a territorial thing, but for a good cause..

I’m sure you are probably aware, but just in case you are not, banana peels buried by rose bushes will make the roses bloom more, and become a more hearty plant. Thank you for your inspiration! I’ve been telling my husband about your channel and he is slowly becoming interested in diving!

I disabled I have chronic kidney disease I really need to eat fruit fresh fruit and vegetables instead of canned because I'm homebound and I can't get out there believe me I would be dumpster diving just like you guys I love your channel I thank you for sharing with us it's awesome!!!!!

I think food is a MAJOR expenditure in U.S. households, and we rarely go out to eat (almost never). If I could physically dive, I'd have been in this game 20 years ago (when I first started reading about DD'ing and freeganism as a powerful way to save $$). Rock ON!! (And don't you love frozen grapes on a summer afternoon? Nothin' more delish than tiny sugar-bombs direct from Ma Nature!) 🍇🍇🍇👍
To me alot of food is trash ( processed crap etc.) This was a gold find....beautiful healthy stuff. So sad so many go hungry ....my dogs eat better than some people

Bananas are perfect once they start spotting, the flavour intensifies! If they go over time, perfect for cooking with and as you say smoothie making. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Frugal mommy it's called peaks of otter salad my momma used to make it all the time. It's 1/2 cup sugar and 8oz of fat free cream cheese softened ( those get mixed together), 1 can of pineapple tidbits ( but you can use the pineapple you find) 2 sliced bananas, strawberries (my mom used frozen) 1 tub cool whip, 1/2 cup chopped pecans. All of it gets mixed together and put in a 9x13 freezer safe dish and freeze til firm.
I've heard that when bananas have those spots not only are they the sweetest but they are the easiest for the body to digest. And I've found that to be true for me.

Love what you do! My sister and I just found out that in Oklahoma City there is a new big grocery store where you shop and then pay as normal. Then you can use the receipt and shop for the same dollar amount FREE in a section of the store they move all the stuff passed thier sell by date. Oklahoma passed a law recently allowing stores to sell or give away foods like this as long as they are marked. You can shop at the store for free stuff the same day, come back at a different time, or give it away! It is about 2 hours aways but we are going to start shopping there as much as we can. This will make a difference for so many people. Just wanted you to know that people do listen and changes have been made about food waste in Oklahoma. Advocates like you DO make a difference!

So many grapes makes great grape juice. I have a juicer, Jack lalane, but I love mine and use it for lot's of stuff that I can't use right away. Great drink sources and so easy to use and clean. 😉

What a haul! Everything looks delicious. I like the speckled bananas. It's not hard to believe that there is that much waste, but it's really disappointing to know that this is what stores do in America. Love your videos!
I am off tomorrow from my part time job and since I don't have a car, I might walk into downtown Pell City tomorrow to CVS. Hopefully, the dumpster will be loaded! Would love some snacks, odds and ends of food, and pet food. Like you, I don't need refined sugar but I would have to walk thirty or forty miles to find an Aldi's, Petco, Barnes and Noble or anything else. On the opposite side of town, we have a Walmart and Dollar Tree. In downtown, there is a Dollar General and Food Outlet another Dollar General the opposite direction of where I live and also a Publix. Not having a car stinks, being that I have to tote everything. Hope I find something good to munch on though!
