I love that we're seeing darker skinned south asian representation on such a huge show like Bridgerton. We don't even see darker skin tones in Bollywood so seeing Charithra and Simone as the leads made me really happy. Charithra is stunning! Representation is so important and I'm glad that we're seeing it more even with kids shows nowadays too.

She is beautiful. Absolutely loved her performance in Bridgerton. The scene where she is upset and talking to Kate, dressed in her wedding gown, was an incredible bit of acting. Hope to see her in much more in the future!
Yes . I thought so too. Her anxiety was palpable through the screen , her acting was so real.
Her: "DO YOU LOVE HIM?!!"
The way I yelled at the screen, like girl, keep it 💯 with your sister before both yall lives are ruined!! 🤣😂🤣😂
I really liked Edwina's character development in Bridgerton and ended up liking the character way more than I thought I would. And now I'm interested in seeing more of Charithra Chandran. Glad to see her in Vogue. It's great to learn how skin care and make up works for different skins and I always enjoy to listen people's personal bonds and stories with their routines.
🌸 Me too, and I absolutely agree what you said, she’s a very talented actress
I'm black but it really REALLY makes me extremely happy to see any Indian/South Asian representation on popular mainstream shows and i'm so so happy she's getting the attention she deserves, I even liked the video before i even watched a second of it.
i thought the same thing! it’s just great to see more representation especially of darker skinned women, who we never got to see in mainstream media. also she seems like the kindest person ever.
Thank you for supporting her
I think she is fat and her bulbous features are a curse.
Omgg same I was so happy when I saw them 😍
I'm Indian and I feel the same about representation for black women
In this season of Bridgerton, I must say Edwina's character shined through until the end. She's strong, wise, elegant, and more! I couldn't help but love the actress Miss Charithra Chandran's acting skills. And talking about her beauty? She's very GORGEOUS.
I want the Queen to introduce her Prince son to Edwina
genuinely!!! i really hope edwina gets the proper romance she deserves (with the queen's nephew or otherwise) in season 3
a lot of people are trashing the change in edwina vs the show and the book but she's so bland in the book. she at least has an arc and grows her character in the show i absolutely love her

"There's no shame in the game"
She's so real. Someone you can connect with deeply.
Lovely personality!
I'm not Indian/desi but I grew up watching Bollywood movies and always noticed the lack of dark skinned people as the main characters. I'm soo happy to see beautiful dark skinned Indian women being represented in such a beautiful set/show as Bridgerton. As a dark-skinned black girl myself, I'm rooting for yall! 🥰🥰🥰
I think you don't see movies most of indian actress are brown skin the make up gives them more light skin tone. All the white skin girls are not even indians they are foreign girls or mixed race that act in Bollywood
@@aiswaryabersan7983 I understand that some of those girls are white skinned bc they're mixed (Katrina Kaif, Kalki Koechlin, etc.) I also know the actors who are fully Indian (Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti/Priyanka Chopra, etc.) either wear makeup or their skin is brightened post production. But I've never seen a woman who's skin is as deep as Simone Ashely's be represented in Bollywood. I'm not saying it doesn't happen at all, but it doesn't happen often. I'm not Indian so I'm not going to act like I know more than you. But I know for sure that light skin is very glorified (as it is in many countries) and dark skin is seen as lowly and unattractive. 😊
@@kadijuhhh U said it!Im an indian nd i support it 100%

There is more to the person than just looks.Think about those qualities.

Representation matters! I'm a black girl and growing up I wondered, why people with my skin tone were always the bad ones, if they were even in the movie/show. I love watching bridgerton and feeling like part of something. I wished brown people where integrated better in society.
But reality was bad at that time🥲
She’s not dark though lol shes tan
some brown people did live like that in the regency era, also there was royalty in India too.
@@reemstyles6536 yes, but not in Europe or Amarica. There was royalty in my ancestors countries too (Nigeria,...), not just powerful men but also women. Then the white men came to Africa and took it all, the natural recources, the fortune and the people.
"I wish brown people could have lived like people in that time." But in India the royalty and the wealthy DID live extremely luxuriously, just like the characters in bridgerton. They didn't live exactly like the characters in bridgerton but thats because bridgerton is set in europe, there were hardly any brown people in europe at the time and they had completely different cultures anyway. The culture of south asian aristocrats was just as cool as european. I don't understand what's progressive about casting POC in historical dramas set in europe in a time where the number of non white people was absolutely miniscule, it's just historically innacurate
The way she goes all out on eyeliner, YES 🤣🙌🏽😍. We brown girls can go without everything else but you’d have to pry our eyeliner out of our cold dead hands before we’d give that up

She is just as gorgeous without make-up! !! Loved her feline eyes...The over-all makeup was just so elegant that it enhanced her beautiful features rather than overdoing it with too many things.
This is why POC representation is SO important on film/TV! I’ve watched most of these Vogue makeup/skincare routine but I related the MOST to this one.
I love that Chairitha embraces her hyperpigmentation..it’s very common especially for South Asian women. She’s going to be a great role model to young girls . I never had any despite growing up with Bollywood, which hardly ever casts dusky/deep skin women. Vogue should do a similar video with Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, that would be so fun to watch!

She is so sweet and beautiful, her makeup enhances her features so nicely. It is so lovely to see Indian women as leads in a major English-language tv show. I’m Arab, not Indian, but I‘ve gotten hurtful comments about my darker skin and under eye circles growing up… seeing someone with similar features starring as the beautiful “diamond” in Bridgerton was empowering. Excited to follow her on what I’m sure will be a flourishing career.
Which Arab are you that's dark? I don't even consider them to be dark.
I've been to Saudi Arabia twice for Umrah and the majority of Arabs are fairer in skin tone than I am, who is a Malay.

skin tone and matching foundation and concealer, hyperpigmentation, eyebrow shaping, the thinner ends of the eyebrows, the eyeliner, needing a good skincare base for dry skin, color correcting, dark circles. These are things I have never seen in my years of loving CZcams makeup tutorials and it makes me so happy to see someone who looks like me being that representation.
To the people who are saying Charitha looks lighter here: it is because of lighting and different weather seasons make some brown girls skin colour get more tan. Her routine actually seems so achievable (cerave + youth to the people + Elf) and she's down to earth while explaining it too. @@hi-ve1cw bridgerton is not even "european" but much more british, and british complexion is not the same than the south or eatern european
@@hi-ve1cw it acc wasn’t minuscule. in bridgerton the english kingdom is extremely royal and rich hinting that this took place post english colonization/during. before colonization Europe was vv poor. so yes they’re would be poc during this time.
