Oh man I Love this Time thats pure England !
110 years later we are still hoping ...
Now 120.
Look at the tram going away from the photographer. It says Bradford on the side, and the destination board says Clayton, which is a district of Bradford.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clayton,_Manchester
@@2394Joseph what about Bradford on the side of the tram?
@@davidwatson5855 Bradford is also a suburb of Manchester: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradford,_Manchester
@@2394Joseph That's a real coincidence Joseph. Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.
My wife remembers walking round the local parish in the 1950 in Manchester, and the mass walks from all churches on whit Monday......all in different dresses.
This gives me a look at the country before I migrated to the UK in 1960.
"Pledged in a Noble Cause" indeed. However, you can never stamp out alcohol. Even if you could, humans are very capable of finding other ways of destroying themselves with other chemicals.
I used to go to Band of Hope when I was kid
The banner proclaiming The Ragged School just think about what that said in regard to how these were truly the bad old days.
could be ashton new road one of the trams showed a sign clayton.
The man holding up the right side of the banner about 30 seconds in shows the bowed legged bone twisting effects of Rickets which was extremely common a century ago.The weird thing is that studies showed it was caused from eating high fiber food like bread rich in bran which has made a comeback because of the rise in popularity of "health foods" and thus we are seeing new cases of Rickets again. The irony.
bluesborn Think you’ll find rickets is lack of vitamin C and sunshine as we seeming with African immigrants.

@raymond52044 Prohibition didn't work remember....
They are all dead even the kids
How times have changed eh! For the worse!
Excuse me? At that time, life expectancy was 50 years, infant mortality was very high, the majority of the population was illiterate, human rights did not exist, public water and electricity services were for a few, the health system was non-existent. , they were condemned to die from any disease that today is easily curable. Just because everyone was dressed in a suit and tie doesn't mean that their lives were wonderful.
What did they brush their teeth with, no toothpaste and mouthwash available back then.
Baking powder?
Bones from dead mammoths.
Those who came from wealthy backgrounds brushed their teeth with baking soda. Those from disadvantaged backgrounds, who were lucky, didn't need to brush because the foods they ate weren't so rich in bacteria that eats away at teeth. Those who were unlucky...well...had to let them rot and eventually fork out to visit a dentist, who would take them all out and give you dentures.
