    Part twwoooooo!!! 😋Thank you all for watching part one of this writing master class and now part 2! I am so pumped to be creating more book deep dives for you all. Let me know below what book or topic you want to see next!! 🌻 I'm thinking _Lightlark? Sarah J. Maas?_ ...oh what a can of worms those could be!

    Thank you so much, Mik, this was just as great as the first part. I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon your channel, there are websites charging hundreds of dollars for this kind of content that you make available for free and I appreciate you so much. I have been working with Save The Cat for a while now and it is great but you have made it ten times more accessable, filling in the gaps that were puzzling me. Thanks to you I now have a much firmer grasp on pacing, reactive scenes and the use of subplots. This type of content I feel I was always missing, story structure is great but it's indepth examples I need to fully understand it and your videos came at just the right moment. I also love how you present the content, your presentation is so fun and I can really feel your passion for the subject which makes you the best kind of teacher. So thank you again and I am so thrilled for more story structure analyses. I would love to see you do different genres, mystery, whodunnit (I'm writing a whodunnit at the moment:) dystopia or even some classics. Maybe one of the Austen novels, Hunger Games and a Agatha Christie would be fun and so interesting but honestly, I'll watch whatever story you decide to do next and am looking very much forward to it. Big hugs from one writer to another

      Wow thank you 😭 I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed this series - I truly do love learning this way and then teaching it back 💗 my full time job is teaching in a corporate setting so I thought I might as well do it for something I love!!! Definitely want to expand genres and breaking down a mystery would be so interesting to do! Thanks for watching 🫶

    Yes, I've been waiting for this! Using books to understand structure is exactly what I've been looking for. I need to see an idea or theory turned into practice and result. It doesn't matter what the book is, not if it's broken down as thoughtfully as you are able to. Thank you again... I'm gonna get on and watch every minute now.

    Thank you so much for doing this series. When I tell you I CONSUMED the first part! I'm writing draft zero of my first novel and I'm trying not to get overwhelmed. I haven't read Shadow and Bone, but I was hooked hearing you break down the story. Ik there's spoilers but I probably won't pick up the book myself.

      So glad that you were able to follow along even without reading Shadow and Bone!! And I feel you there - it is so easy to get overwhelmed in that first draft stage thinking about outlining and story structure 😭 hope this helped 🫶💗

    I’d love to see a video on the overall story structure for series of books that were successful- each book is going to have a similar outline, I assume? 2nd books in trilogies tend to be slower and less exciting in my experience, so maybe my former assumption is wrong- but I wonder if it’s more important for the overall plot of the entire series to have that middle book lull. Trilogies are probably easy to cover since they’re common in YA. I’d love to see Shadow and Bone covered this way, or Hunger Games, maybe one of Maggie Stiefvater’s series? Twilight if you’re feeling brave? 😂😂😂😅

    • @mikwrites
      @mikwrites  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Definitely have been thinking about zooming out to look at series structure! Series structure is so fun because each book has the same outline BUT each book also needs to make up every act of the overall structure - like shadow and bone book 1 is Act 1, book 2 is Act 2 (hence that dreaded lull), book 3 is Act 3 etc! - definitely adding to my list - unsure if I’m brave enough to go reread twilight though 😂😭

    Me encantaría ver que tienes para decir de los otros libros de la trilogía o incluso del grishaverse, six of crows tiene personajes increíbles

    I will devour any and all story structure studies you make!!! Lightlark would be a fun one, especially that's an easier/quicker reread than SJM haha :) I'd love to see the structure breakdown of a duology vs. trilogy - shadow and bone and six of crows perhaps??

    • @mikwrites
      @mikwrites  Před měsícem +1

      Wow thanks so much 😭 I love making them - I definitely think I will do Lightlark since it has so many mixed reviews and I think there is something to learn from that as well. And yes I've gotten some comments on doing series structure breakdowns! I can definitely do that as well.
