Meriem Fekkai était connue pour sa voix puissante et sa présence scénique captivante. Née à Alger en 1889 de parents originaires de Biskra, Meriem Fekkai est l'arrière grande tante de la chanteuse Algérienne Radia Manel et contrairement aux fake News des réseaux sociaux, elle était musulmane. Aussi, après son décès en juillet 1961 elle fut enterrée au cimetière musulman d'El Kettar et non pas au cimetière Israélite de Bologhine.

ولدت مريم فكاي في الجزائر العاصمة عام 1889 من والدين من بسكرة ، وهي العمة الكبرى للمغنية الجزائرية راضية منال ، وعلى عكس الأخبار المزيفة على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي ، فهي مسلمة. كما دفنت بعد وفاتها في يوليو 1961 في مقبرة المسلمين في القطار وليس في مقبرة اليهود في بولوغين
