HP Deskjet 4155e Printer Review: All in One Wireless Color Printer

- I'd say it's an ongoing debate: do you really need a printer in the house?
With so many of our documents, photos and spreadsheets online, a printer's usefulness might be questionable today. Even so, there's no doubt that a printer can be handy. When I needed one for my home office, I decided to try out the HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer. In this review, I'll tell you what you get, what the setup process is like, what the print quality is, and if I would recommend it to you.

Moving on to the setup, you'll need to get the printer working online and connected to your Wi-Fi. This was definitely a hurdle; I've set up a few HP printers with my MacBook Pro and in almost every case, it will not connect on its own. Eventually, I had to contact HP customer service for some help. Fortunately, that was quick and I was ready to go after around 20 minutes on the phone. Mac Users, beware! The last time I reviewed an Epson printer I had similar but resolvable compatibility issues.
How fast does HP Deskjet 4155e print?
I printed a lot of documents, and I can confirm that it prints really fast. From the time that I hit print to it activating was less than 5 seconds. A full page of black takes about 6-8 seconds, while shorter pages take far less time. HP's website says it'll print around 8.5 pages per minute.

If you want a little tech-help with your printing, you can use HP's Smart App. It gives you access to some of the same features that are present on the device or on your phone, but you can also set-up the HP 'Instant Ink Program' which will deliver ink to your door when your device runs low, which is cool.
Photo printing
Though the website doesn't say that this printer is designed for printing photos, you sure can. I bought some HP photo printer paper and tested it.
You need to manually load the paper in the back, and you can load multiple sheets at once. It will only take what it needs.
Overall review of HP DeskJet 4155e
Once I finally got help with setting this printer up, the HP DeskJet 4155e worked like a dream. This is a great printer and can match the speed of other printers which are the same type and size. The printer itself is light, easy to move around, and the flexibility of having ink-tanks to store years of ink shouldn't be underestimated. I also love that you can see the ink levels in the tank at a glance.

Thanks Erin, I was able to get this printer at Staples for only $9 !!!! That's right NINE dollars at Staples here in south Florida. Connecting the HP 4155E to my wife was easy, no hassles, and looks very nice on my desk!!!!! I love it

It was kind of a pain to connect in the beginning. I guess the days of plug and play are over. Once it was connected it worked great.
I just use my old cord. I was NEVER a fan of WiFi connections for printers.
I use it as an office printer. lol. My employees get mad because they want the biggest and best one. But I tell them I’m able to pay you so much because we don’t have extravagant office equipment. They all line up by the printer getting their documents. Overall it’s a great machine. If it breaks I’m getting another. lol.

Setting up the printer and connecting to your wifi is easy peasy if you download and use the HP Smart App on your phone. Also, the HP DeskJet 4155e Wireless Printer is capable of automatic duplex printing, which means it can print on both sides of the paper without the need for manual intervention. Perhaps do a bit more research before you review a product. But an A+ for a short concise nice presentation.

Great info in duplex printing
Every time I change the ink the tiny orange light comes on to the right of the little screen. I have checked everything, it just wont print.

HP and Adobe (no more FLASH) stopped supporting my old HP 4280C series all in one. I should have bought a new one like in the video ages ago. Bigger, but more features. Time will tell.
This new HP is DIRT cheap in these times of hyper inflation. 70 bucks. SAME day delivery with Amazon!

I may be incorrect about this but it looks like if you subscribe to hp+ everything you print ends up on cloud storage somewheres at HP. I have a big problem with this. I scan personal documents often and want them stored locally in my machine. I do not trust cloud storage.
I recently bought one of these. I haven’t yet found out how to print borderless pictures. Eventually I’ll figure that out.
I found out. EASY!!!! Two words: Paper Cutter. I got a nice one for the home. Very handy!

Nice review. My old printer ran out of ink. Hp 6600. Very old. Installed the ink and found out the printer was toast. Took my ink cartridges back to Staples and got a refund I paid $56 for and as I was leaving I saw this printer for $69. I scored. This printer is way better.

It’s as simple as loading a piece of photo paper in the rear tray then printing from my phone. The printer recognizes it is a photo and adapt accordingly. Does that help?

I have this printer with up to date software, it WILL NOT scan to PDF format.
the ink service SUCKS they limit how much you can print. and then they shut you off no matter how much ink is left. makes me want to throw it in the trash. can someone tell me if this is the same with other inks that arent the subscription service

I bought this printer some time ago used it a few times for some reason now its not working correctly however I think its my lack of knowledge on using it .After 20 minutes I get totally frustrated and walk away its just so so dificult

Hi Marian I wish I could… But tech support is not my specialty. You are best to reach out directly to HP. Their customer service is actually quite fast and very helpful.
After changing ink cartridges, prints VERY lightly
Don't waste one penny on the 4155E, nothing but hassles and trouble. I bought it back in December and it only worked for a few months. No it will not connect to my fiber optic router. Thing is good for a door stop and nothing more.
No! Great scanner, especially ADF. Use USB eayser! Can fax, scan, save, copy from Windows default software, in PDF, as well as HP.

Nice review; thanks! I purchased one today. The only negative I read online is that it supposedly uses a lot of toner. Any input on that?
I only used it for a few weeks, so didn’t run out during my testing period. Perhaps someone else here who owns one can weigh in?

I damage the ink cartridge that came with the printer and I am going to have to buy lnk for the printer

I’m afraid it does not. But you could certainly investigate printing a small format on to a larger sheet than cutting it out

HP Desjet 4155e is the worst printer I ever bought..it's so bad guys..it didn't even print. All it did was printing its tested page....piece of junk...I don't what HP is trying to do anymore?..😢😢

Does it SEND and RECEIVE Faxes?
It has the capability for that, but you have to have it connected to a phone line from what I understand. Since I have no landline I was not able to test this feature.
Does it accept an ethernet cable in addition to the wireless connection? Thank You.

I think she meant duplex printing as in 2 sides at the same time. If it can't do the regular 2 sided printing then it's a major no for me.

Use the windows default with the USB cable it's easy and the default is PDF

Thanks for this review. How do you think it compares to the more economical 2755? They have the same duty cycle but the 4133 has the document feeder and 3 months more free insta ink. HP chat says 4133 has better components but not sure if actually true or not.

Just buy a USB cable if someone's easier connect to your computer hit that Windows button on your keyboard and type in scanners and printers and scanner print or whatever you want to do.
