Happy New Year guys! Welcome to the first vlog of the year in incredible Dubai and a very idyllic stay at Raffles The Palm Dubai. It was the perfect place to spend some time together to feel inspired for 2022 and to set our goals for what this new year will hold for us. Guys, Eastern Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on the 7th of January. Surely they have guests from Russia and other Orthodox countries. That is why they keep Christmas trees on. Even catholics keep the tree until the Three Saints Day 6th of January. Loved the vlog. Happy and prosperous new 2022 and loads of great vlogs from you guys!😘😘

I am sure they keep Christmas decor a little longer because they get tourists from different countries. For instance, in Russia, Christmas decor is used to celebrate New Years, and Christmas itself is on Jan 7. Christmas decor stays at least till mid Jan if not end of January.
Isn't this basically the song? "12 days of Christmas." If we are taking Christmas as the Christian season it ends Jan 7!
Yeah I think Orthodox Christians celebrate on January 7th.
@@dmap3537 Not all Christians celebrate Christmas on the same day. In fact, not even all Orthodox Christians celebrate on the same day. This is based on what calendar they follow. Orthodox churches in some Eastern European countries follow Julian calendar and celebrate Christmas on January 7th. Greek Orthodox church now celebrates Christmas on December 25 based on Gregorian calendar. That is all. ✌🏻

FYI - Orthodox Christmas is on January 7th. The hotel may be being considerate of other religions.
It’s actually super normal to leave Christmas trees till 10-15 January in our region! It’s a religious thing where you wait for the pastor to come bless your house! Fun fact

In my country we leave it till 10-12 January because everyone goes back to work as from 10Jan 😊😊
In Spain you normally leave all the decorations up until the three kings (los tres reyes) on the 6th of January which is when they actually receive their presents so that’s why it does depend what country you’re from xxx loving the outfits!

I personally don't pack away my christmas tree until after my birthday which is way at the end of february. I'm one of those people who celebrate my bday to the max. Its my biggest festivity

Hey Victoria, amazing video and trip. Just wanted to share that even in Italy we keep our trees at least up to the 6th of January, as we celebrate epiphany. We never take them down before that date! So they might keep them longer for guests from different countries
My husband's been to Dubai several times when he was stationed in Bahrain and I've been wanting to go SO BAD. Also, I'm glad y'all are back to travelling!! I live vicariously through you and Alex with your travel content lol

In Italy the Christmas decorations stay up until Jan 6th to celebrate the Epiphany and La Befana. I once took down our Christmas decor before January 6th and both my family and my husbands family were mortified. We don't do that anymore.🤭💗

I love this long travel/staycation vlog and hope you guys had an amazing time in Dubai. As for Christmas decors, some countries have longer celebrations like for some Catholics (like myself) we remove decorations after the 3 kings celebration which is around the 6th of January.

It's often windy in Dubai and I found it got quite chilly in the evening I bought a couple of cashmere lashings which were a godsend. Often eating out near the soul, the restaurants provide fleece blankets even during the day . I loved my time in Dubai.
I'm from UK and most people in UK celebrate 12 days of Christmas then take the decorations down on the 5th or 6th of Jan (Epiphany) I also work through Christmas then go away, so I really appreciate the decorations still being up.

The hotel is being considerate of the Orthodox religions who celebrate Christmas on Jan 6th and their little Epiphany is Jan 19th. Idk about cloud seeding, but after living in the UAE, I can tell you that Jan & Feb are chilly & wet (especially at night). I remember when it did rain, it flooded!

Here in Ireland it's tradition to keep Christmas decorations up till the 6th January , womens Christmas day.
Night terrors usally happen due to lack of sleep, insomnia and part of it is feeling that there's someone is in the room watching u. It is terrifying . Another part of it is u know u are awake but u can't move like u are paralysis. I've experienced it lately and didn't know what the hell was going on until my doctor explained it.

Although I know Christmas is not only celebrated in December, it was very enlightening to read the comments on the many different Christmas celebrations. Dubai seems to be a very nice place to visit. Happy to see you were able to get away even if it was mostly work.

Yes, in Puerto Rico, 3 Kings Day is celebrated which is January 6th, so decorations are kept up until then 👍

Aw I really feel for you when it comes to the night terrors Vic! I used to suffer from them as well, I know how awful it can be!! I think people might not understand how scary it is if they have not experienced it themselves... What has really helped me is to regularly meditate and practice going deep into the “lower” and more dream like levels of my consciousness while still awake. Some people are just naturally more intuitive and sensitive to “energies” and I have learned that experiencing night terrors can be a sign that these abilities are starting to come to the surface. In my case the night terrors have completely disappeared over the course of a few years after I started developing my intuitive side more.
Just wanted to mention it, since I know how alone it can make you feel to experience these things - especially when they start to result in physical injuries. Be sure to take care of your self babe

Yes, cloud seeding is a real thing. The aircraft disperse/seed either dry ice or silver iodide into the clouds which in turn causes condensation. It used to be very popular here in the US as well as other countries around the world. However, its effectiveness to significantly increase rainfall is debatable.

A trick I use to adjust to new time zones is first night always sleep in a bit. I have done Lax to Europe so many times and sleeping in that first night to 11 or noon and then after that I am usually fine.
I just read that Bold colours, Boxy blazers and crop tops are trending in 2022 so very on trend with the pink suit 💗💗 Sports luxe is also a trend- with the dior. Trend or no trend - either way ALL your outfits are just WOW. ⭐️

Cloud seeding is a thing. They do it where I live in Canada when a really bad storm is coming to calm the storm a bit. Sometimes we can get crazy hail and cloud seeding helps with that.

I have very similar dreams! My therapist calls it sleep paranoia too, I think it’s similar to night terrors. I will think I see something in my room, like a person, spider, etc, and startle awake. It’s so disorientating, because I don’t know if what I’m seeing is real or not in this weird in between sleep and awake state. It’s worse when I’m sleeping in a new place or if I’m home alone, I do find that taking CBD at night helps. ❤️

Vic, virtually nobody takes down xmas trees on new years day . Jan 6 is the so called official day to undecorate.
I got back from Qatar just before Christmas and we had to show the app everywhere we went, malls, hotels - everywhere. Also if you do have to do a PCR test when you get back they have testing places at Heathrow where you can do your 'Day 2" test on arrival which is really handy.
some cultures call them New year trees. due to Santa and Christmas being more christen. what a fantastic place and your outfits... am more drawn to the outfit you seem to wear when away lol. xx Happy New Year to you both.

In Malaysia we do cloud seeding too when theres haze or when it has been too long with no rain.

That was totally true about the clouds in Dubai, a lot of the rain if not all of it is man made and influenced in a way. My in laws moved there and told me that and I thought they were losing it haha. Loved the video!!!

happy new year 2022 ! (better late than never..lol...), loved your gorgeous pink suit, I am not a neon fan and personally it didn't look neon, moreso just a stunning bright pink. Not to mention your two new pairs of stunning shoes, both gorgeous but those the saint laurent, oh my gosh, my heart sang a bit when I saw those! I had read last year about the cloud seeding, and it is indeed real. Dubai only gets approx 4 inches of rain annually so they deveoped this method of using drones to shoot lasers (sounds unreal right?) to inject silver iodide (I think that is what it's called) and some others into the clouds, which results in precipitation like snow or rain......don't really know how effective it is but it sounds so futuristic.
