I don't use a lot of photo etch, but i do have the medium 3 inch size. It is great! Extremely well made. It is a huge help, especially if making pieces from scratch. It's given me the confidence to take things to the next level
Nobody who uses this tool had explained its other usage. What are those curves on plate are used for? These are are not just decoration. Please explain them.

@@scalewarmachines I have both Tools. I am a Ship Modeler. I only build Ships from the Imperial Japanese Navy. Because they are absolutely Beautyful. And there are many,many Photo Etched Parts.
Yes,the Tools are Expensive. But when you will high Quality Tools you must Invest.
I have just got one of these tools today & now I can't wait to do some photo etching. Hence why I am watching this video in the first place. Also mine wasn't that expensive, it was only £44.99. Those tool clasps can drive anyone nuts so hopefully this tool will make that job easier.

The 5.5inch Hold & Fold is certainly one of the best on the market. The Bug is a great little useful tool as well. If budget can be stretched...ideally both!

I've already purchased one and am waiting for it to arrive. I'll be working on the 1/350th scale USS Arizona (Eduard photo etch). There are three sheets of photo etch ( a lot of photo etch and a "zillion" small pieces) as well as a separate photo etch sheet just of railings. I have limited experience (mostly bad) with photo etch but decided to "jump into the deep end of the pool" with this. I'm retired so I have oodles of time to wrangle this critter, but if anyone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction for working on the USS Arizona I promise to say nice things about you. As a "By the way" I also purchased metal barrels and a wooden deck deck along with replacements for the 5'25 open mount guns...so all I need now is a 1/350th scale coffee cup to put in the mitt of that 1/350th scale CPO I also purchased.
i had to create munition for a machine gun. these were so tiny hou do you give them a half round shape. aprox 1 mm in wide en 5 length

Is the 5.5in good for small p/e too? Seem like a person needs both?
Start with the 5.5in. Then, if you like doing teeny tiny photoetch then get the Bug, otherwise, the 5.5 is sufficient for most general applications.

kairus1 I don't think it's suited to anything rounded. It's fine for flat stuff. For bending rounded things you could try The Small Shop "Wrangler". czcams.com/video/JCceJYDtvaM/video.html.

These things are way to expensive! You can make one for less than $10.00.
