I don't know , which version is best.I like Thin Lizzy, the Dubliners and Metallica. Great Trad. song in different versions. Logans versions is too calm (for me) but it's also nice to listen. Greetings from Germany

Metallica just did another cover on that one, just as sooo many others before them. :) GREAT SONG, though. :) I bought this cd by the way. Great cd. Johnny Logan? Sounds like Johnny Cash in an Irish kinda way. Pretty good but hit up the Johnny Cash thing and get an angry grind! Watch his Fullsome vid. You can go far!

Please tell me why I have to smile about a song that tells about a man who got turned in by the woman he loved AFTER he mugged an officer of the law (something left out of this cover or it didn't get put on for whatever reason) THEN he was sent to prison to rot. I cannnot find ANYTHING to smile about.

hi ... surely it is clear to everybody that this song is sung by the man who is in his prison cell awaiting his execution. not a fun tune, not about whiskey or drinking. in all european countries alike, throughout history, the man on death row was granted one stiff drink+good food on the night before his death at sunrise. so to him it is worth mentioning that there is whiskey in his tin-jar. - okay, but please, somebody from ireland explain to me the 'mush-a-ding ... daddy-oh' , whack what?
