You should compress the tensioner and place the set pin in place BEFORE loosening any screw on the belt tensioner pulley- otherwise you won’t have access to the other bolt.
You have to be very careful NOT to overtighten. The block is aluminum- so it’s easy to strip the threads if you are not careful. I used blue lock tight and 18 ft/lbs
Makenna, it could be many factors such as loose bolts, bad pulley, bad belt to a bad tensioner. Make sure to route the belt to the right direction/diagram. The belt will need to be tight so it wont slip off. I hope you can fix it.
@@kennethmay6343 I haven't changed the belt yet; someone told me to check all the other pulleys by spinning them or pulling up and down on them and they didn't feel loose.. I CZcams 303 aerospace protectant it quieted that belt for 2 weeks.. I'm going to clean the pulleys then spray the belt down again.. That belt doesn't have any breaks in it. When I get time I'm going to clean everything.. I been working on my other vehicle to get working . Car was squeaking and your video helped me change the belt. Thanks!
Great video! DIY went well and you saved me a pile of cash! Thanks!

Thank you

Thanks for the help. Really
Counter-clockwise brotha
Very useful thanks
Is there a specific tightness I should screw the bolts when I replace the pulleys or is it just as tight as possible?

What would cause the belt to slip off after replacing the top pulley?

Installed incorrectly
I must have a dirty belt; I replaced all the pulleys and check the other ones and chirping..
Have you looked into this yet? I’m about to try to replace the Idler pulley on mine and see if it still is squeaking..

Turn the car on with the belt off ..if the chirping stops you know it’s a pulley
So my pulley broke from the back lip and ripped my belt to shreeds is there a certain limit to how tight the pulley gotta be
torque is about 20 nm ( always good to know torque values, and apply them accordingly)
Hi, can you please tell me if I have a bad water pump or is it just the serpentine belt. Thanks.
Pansey, I won't be able to tell without seeing a video of it. What is wrong with the car?
remove belt, listen for bearing noise, same as other pullies, if leaking or noisy --- replace
I would’ve left the belt hanging
