    I've been using cardboard for several years. People always think me a crazy old lady, but, when they copy me, they are amazed! I place cardboard on the earth, before planting in my raised bed gardens, as well as use it for weed control. My roses from you are so healthy, will be adding more to my gardens this spring.

    I do this too ... but I SOAK in water first, then lay down and cover in mulch

    I like your cutting pattern with the triangles. I use big cardboard sheets to kill weeds in big areas. So far, my roses are in pots, but I will do this when I put in ground. No problem with pests here in SW Iowa.

    I’ve not tried cardboard out in the landscape but I do cut it up into bits and use it in the bottom of larger containers that I don’t need to fill so fully with dirt because the plants they hold have shallow root systems. So far it’s been working out for me, and saves me from having to spend so much money on soil

    Hello, i got 6 beautiful climbing roses from Heirloom’s Roses and i planted 3 to the ground. They grow beautifully until this week i see all the new growth was drooping and some leaves look dry and curl up. Also i found this little black caterpillar eating all the young new growth and young red leaves on my Eden roses. Can you please please please make a video teaching how to deal with those caterpillars and how to rescue Roses that overwatering? Thank you so much 🙏🏻

      A natural fungicide should clear your caterpillar problem up pretty quickly! We recommend spraying with Dr. Earth once a week until the problem clears, and then every 3-4 weeks as a preventative measure. Roses that are overwatered will typically bounce back after decreasing how frequently you water, unless the issue has to do with how well draining your soil is. Make sure to add plenty of organic matter and peat moss into the soil if it is heavy and clay-like, and a heavy layer of mulch will help with moisture retention so you won't have to worry about watering often. Roses like to be watered deeply at less frequent intervals.

      @@heirloomroses Thank you very much.
      Btw . Love yours Roses. I got a few different climbing Roses from Heirloom’s 10 years ago and they have grown beautifully in Texas weather. But now i move to new place and couldn’t bring them with me🥺 but I trusted Heirloom’s Rose will make my new home look fabulous when they full grow and blooming ❤️❤️ I’ve got me a total 8 different types this time. My favorite is Eden rose👍🏻

    Yes that's nice way of using the packet. But here in India, this might attract subterranean termites towards a rose.

    I just received my roses yesterday and now we are expecting 32 degree weather. Should I go ahead and plant or wait til spring? First time planting roses .

    In the southern portion of the USA, the cardboard would be a welcome mat for fire ants, unfortunately.

    I just received three roses that I had ordered from Heirloom today. I only gave a foot space between my roses. Is this going to be a problem?

    • @heirloomroses
      @heirloomroses  Před 8 měsíci

      Generally, we do recommend about 2 feet of distance between roses so they can have enough space to fully develop roots and foliage. 🌹

    You can reuse the plastic bags to collect manure to compost from neighbors or your community and not have it spill all over your car 😁
