Right now, if my A41 I am typing on died I would use my wife's old 6s until the 12 mini came out and buy an android tablet for work.

Just picked one up for for $65 to replace my 3yo $60 Samsung J3. (Battery was dying + multiple cracks in screen) I don't want a big bulky phone. Just need basics. Phone/text, check emails, browse web and take pics. If it breaks or gets stolen I'm not out $800-1000 like some of the high end phones.
I got it for $59.99 on amazon. For my total wireless plan.

I wouldn't because way better phones can be bought used or refurbished at that price (google pixel 2016 or iphone 6s for example). The quality difference between used and new gets greater as you lower your price.

I have this phone alongside a Galaxy Note 10 Lite. I live in a pretty damn dangerous country, so the A01 is my "street" driver, I only use the Note for home use or when I need to go somewhere fancy and kinda look the par haha.
Both phones are pretty awesome, and to be honest I'm definitely not getting rid of the A01 anytime soon.

Nice balanced review. Not everyone needs or can afford a flagship. Many (like me) don't game. And plastic is really the perfect materiel to wrap an electromagnetic device. I don't get this 'metal and glass' stuff especially when it's hidden with a case so it won't break. Then again, snob appeal is a product in itself. Looks like an ok device if you're realistic, especially for the price.
I used the A01 for 1 year now, apart from storage ( which is solved by an SD card and I stalling Samsung's storage booster which allows to install apps on SD card) it's flawless. I play pubg on it without a hickup . Truly impressive for 100$.
Fr, I probably wouldn’t have upgraded if it were for the storage, I was supposed to have 16gb but half of them were taken up by built in apps, but besides that, it was still working pretty good

I don't think it's right. Because when I looked on Cricket's website it's not free if your still a customer. I personally think it should be since your the one paying the bill every month and never missing a payment.
I do think that Samsung is releasing too many a series phones. I think sometimes they dont put in effort. Although, with the more expensive a series phones, they are definitely worth the cost, and even better. This seems like an interesting phone. Btw great job!

Fair point. I often have to call my wife on her iPhone 11 twice . That is from calling her on an A40, iphone 6s and A41 in the last 30 days.
Walmart has them on sale for $59.. I bought 2 so I could switch the batteries out if necessary. Unfortunately.I will have to unscrew it to get to the battery. I had an S4 samson Galaxy that I loved partly because you could write on the picture or turn the picture over & write on the back but not much memory
I love digital art on ibis paint x and with low ram blending with the app is slow has a price I like but this phone is not for me.

I just bought mine and Iphone SE 2020..... I prefer using A01 instead of SE 2020 due to its light weight and perfect for my grip (and battery lasts longer)
I like it for the most part . Got it for $20 when I switched to Cricket . Surprisingly good camera for the price . Also plays games I would never thought it could handle like Call of Duty , Death Park and some of the newest racing games . That said I would still want a Pixel 4a for the camera alone .
The price point with the spec is definitely attractive. Could be second phone for business purposes.

I've had my a01 for about a year now and it's definitely is a decent phone. After a year of usage I did start to occasionally get some lag and freezing.
But my only big issue is with the internal space. You get 16 gigs but about 6-7 is already used so you end with about 10 gigs of space. By the time I download all my apps I'm left just under 800mgbs. It does have an SD slot but you can't move apps to the SD card so your still somewhat limited on space. If phones are gonna come with limited space they should at least have the option to move apps to SD cards
If your a light phone user and you really only need a phone to browse the web, go on social media and take pics every now and then it'll get the job Done

What if you root the software to where you can delete all those unnecessary apps programs so that could have more space??

I'd say yeah. Usually Samsung ends software support in about 3 years. I'm still rocking their 2018 budget phone the Amp Prime 3 (the cricket version) the regular name is the J3 Top. But I'll needa upgrade soon. That's the thing that I like about Google phones and iPhones, they have longer software support. Hopefully it's not like the Amp Prime 3 because this is me second one because I made a warranty claim because the charging port stopped working correctly. So yeah hopefully the charging ports on these don't wear down as easily but it's a cheaper phone so that may not be likely

There's has usb-c and CDMA bands is why. It's a more premium model. I've been looking into it for a while. The prepaid ones are international the us carrier ones are USB C
Can confirm the $60 straight talk from Walmart is USB-C. And might be unlocked when you first get it. But I ooooofed and turned it on with the sim in it. So I guess it's a media device now gahahha

In 2011 this would be considered an upper midrange phone. Amazing how far budget phones have come over the years.
Its cool. Its a bit of a mix of modern and kinda old phones because of the back speaker. Eitherway this phone is really good for the price. I think this would be liek a call/text phone. I like your content its pretty straight foward.

Got it brand new for 59.99. Snapping plastic inner cover with rubber outside cover for a very protective case and a glass screen protector for 23.99 combined. At 83.99 total for phone, case and screen protector. 8 core CPU, Dual Rear camera, Android 10, USB TYPE C, Fast Charging, Quality calling and texting of course, Facial Recognition, SD Card support, Quality Display. Quality Graphics, As I said for sub 84$ I think you would be pressed to find a better brand new budget phone. It's not blazing fast but it's also not slow. It will get you by with a pleasant experience. 8/10 in my personal opinion.

Got the Moto G Fast from Boost Mobile for 89 bucks... Nice phone with a Qualcomm 665 Snapdragon. I'm digging it.
Dunno what the exchange rate is, but here in New Zealand I just paid $250, which is definitely not the cheapest available. I like it because its samsung, but a couple things so far are really annoying. There is no option for it to vibrate when receiving text messages which I really don't understand. EVERY other phone has that option. We only have the 16gb internal storage, and there is no way to move apps to the sd card. It also does not come with a standard music player so you need to download an app, since google no longer does one. If anyone has solutions to these issues please let me know. Edited to add, the battery life really isn't that great. I had a cheaper Huawei y6 2019 that's battery life was at least twice as long with the same amount of use.

Wondering if it's Trackphone but I'm experiencing 1sm signal, while charging I cannot use the phone says no network. I see 0 WiFi signals. If I Hotspot another phone I can see that WiFi only. Any help or suggestions on how 2 fix please help.

I got the A01 but going to get another phone with more internal storage. Samsung is getting like LG. Cannot move any apps to SD card. With Only 16 ROM you cannot put many apps or games on phone. No other issue. Runs good, battery life is fine .

I got this phone last year and I still have it but the problem is the internal storage only 16Gb got it for $29.99 on simple mobile I'm poor if i could afford a better phone with more goodies I'll do it. But i get what my money can get me. I wish i was rich.

Bujaboy Well the original poster didn’t respond but I got mine and I love it! The screen is very clear and the camera is absolutely stunning in my opinion. Great phone for its price. The only thing is that I recommend getting some kind of SD storage because I had 16G and it wasn’t enough, which made my phone slower.

Many may disregard this phone due to its budget nature but for many who don't have luxury for flagship or even excellent mid-range phone, this would be the device for their everything needs : the phone, the camera, the music player, the web browser.

One tip, that maybe help if you cover the speaker in landscape.
If you turn the phone 180 degrees the speaker is now on the other side.

There was one phone that was able to cram a 4,000mah battery on a 5.2 inch screen sized body.

What a great budget phone , thankfully I could afford my note 5g ( bought it cracked and replaced screen , all n all 160$ ) but I highly suggest buying s models with cracked screens and sending them in ebay and have the screen professionally replaced without paying for the expensive digitizer

the use of micro usb still makes sense at the low price point as most people buying it (especially in developing markets such as india or south africa) as many people already have micro usb and cannot afford to upgrade especially in markets (such as south africa) where usb-c is less available and more expensive. In more developed markets usb-c is finally available at the same price as micro usb and isn't far off in popularity but in less developed markets that is not the case.
This has been my first smart phone. I did not want a big clunky phone. It does everything. The only problem is that you will run out of space so you can't download tons & tons of apps. I have several tablets so I put other apps on those. I love the size.
