I’ve never understood why asking for a Birkin is considered rude. Like, it’s your product. I’m not here to be your friend. I would like to purchase what I please and leave.
Its to maintain exclusivity and rareness (as well as a little mystery). Al this adds to the value and retail price, therefore increasing profit. It isn't meant to come off personal or elitist, it's just basic business to maximize the value of your product.
@@markk7569 It’s meant to come off as elitist. Like, “How dare you ask for a Birkin.” It’s ridiculous. This guy’s Birkin is absolutely stunning and I want it, but it’s stupid to feel you can’t ask for a product. God, I better not ask McDonald’s if I can get a 9 piece McNuggets when I’m there next. That would minimize the value of the product.

I also like the part you talking about people shouldn't bring along their Birkin to Hermès just to prove loudly that they're Birkin owners. Money can't buy good taste of elegance.

I know, right? It’s completely stunning. The most beautiful one I’ve seen. If I had a Birkin like this I would carry it all the time. From the couch to my desk to the kitchen to my bedroom. It would be my every day bag.

I will definitely be visiting my local store carrying this 😁 but I don't know what I'll actually carry inside lol. I can usually fit things in my pockets, especially if I'm wearing a jacket
Ikr. I was thinking what if I had the Birkin bag, what would I carry? My answer is that get the Hermes blanket and carry it. After long shopping at the Hermes store, go to the park across the street and wrap myself with the blanket. The weather is getting cold, right? ;)

Did you know SA's do not make ANY commission on Birkins and Kellys - yes! So you must buy other things with them to entice them to sell to you :)

Omg I didn't know it was so complicated to shop at Paris
It's just for the leather department, technically the women's leather department. For all other goods, you just need an SA to help you like when I got the men's backpack (Cityback), belt and sandals - no appointment needed. The SAs who help you with the leather goods like the Birkin, Kelly, Constance, etc. are specially assigned just to help clients with those (who have an appointment).

You're welcome. The leather specialist is for (technically women's) leather goods like the bags and wallets. Bracelets, belts, shoes, scarves, RTW don't need appointments - just need to get the attention of an SA or go when it's less busy.

Hi SartorialPhil, had you been a longtime customer of Hermes before this purchase? I have bought a couple of bracelets from the flagship but I'm wondering how much you need to have purchased from the brand to be considered worthy to own a Birkin.
I think it varies from store to store and from sales associate to another. I've heard of people who were able to buy a birkin the first time. I happened to have had purchased a few items the day before (cityback, capecod belt and izmir sandals).

I think hemers is setting a terrible example for retail business. The sales person is there to help you to find out products you like. They are there to help you. Not there to be pleased. If I pay that much money, I’m buying top notch services and experiences. If you need a strategy to buy a bag, walk away. I bet the experience overall won’t match the price tag.
Doesn't getting a different SA every time make it extremely difficult to get a Birkin/Kelly? You need to tell them what you want every time and its hard to establish a relationship with the SA.
Well the Paris FSH is full of tourists; I doubt locals shop there because it's always crazy. I just think there's a lot of luck involved at this store

I have been a customer of Hermes for many, many years. However, I would never, ever buy this bag (a Birkin, no less). It is most definitely not accessible friendly. In fact, it appears to be a nightmare. I have bags from Bally, Tiffany, Coach, a custom bag, etc. and they are ALL very accessible and functional. The only reason I can think of why you took just over (a seemingly endless) 16 minutes to explain your purchase was ego driven. "See, I have a Birkin, a lot of disposable money and you don't." Of course, this would only apply to people who are even familiar with Hermes, let alone the significance of a Birkin. (I felt obligated to endure the entire video so I could appropriately comment.) Oh, I find it curious that you don't show your face.. Hmmmm...

I did not say I did not like Birkin bags per se. I was only commenting on this particular bag. I do like Birkins and that is why, as I stated, that to compose an appropriate comment it was important for me to watch the entire video. As regards not showing his face (at least without sunglasses), please see Regina Cheeses comment (posted below) which asks the same question.
