For those who feel weird or 'inaccurate' tab.
This tab are for JerryC version of Canon. While the funtwo version is slightly different at certain sweeping part.
So easy said, the video and tab are not 100% the same note, but you still can learn this song by the tab to know the base, and not many people will notice the difference anyway. Take it as exercise for your finger and move forward toward advanced guitar playing.
I remember when I was 12, I was trying so hard to learn and play this song, now 3 years later, I finally found this video and I can finally play this, also can we just appreciate how talented he is, my man playing better than most guitarists lmao

Maybe because of its tab and different version of funtwo. But the tab is right, and I really learned from this. this is so helpful.
the tabs are from the JerryC version so it is a little bit out of sync in places

The TAB is Jerry C's version which is the best in my opinion. Funtwo is putting his spin on it but he tends to skip the hardest sweeping sections for a more comfortable position for him. I understand because the tab's version is much more difficult to perform properly. I'm sure he could do it but you do have to take the time to learn it. Jerry C's has about every type & style of arpeggio you can imagine. The tab's version at 3:40 is simply brilliant.

@@wroicee3744 guitar technique that resolve around pick going down across strings and up across strings, very cool and shred sounding technique but is very VERY hard to do it flawlessly and up to speed. 3:41 - here it is with mostly 3 strings.

This is probably JerryCs version, but most people who played this put their own bit to it, so it may vary
dont worry. you and 99.9% can still not play what guitar pro shows. when you have learned 70%, you figure out the rest. be patient and train slowly with metronome. this is funtwo version but is not complete.

been playing for about 15 years.. this and cliffs of dover are still the bane to my existence... i just cant figure the shit out, so frustrating...
+Tripod Fay Dude I feel the exact same way about Cliff of Dover and this. I just wanna get them down so bad.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Canon Rock is LOT easier than Cliffs Of Dover. I learnt this about 4 years ago and Cliffs Of Dover is still well out of reach. The speed/circle picking and hybrid-picking really sets it apart.

Yup. Sweep-picking has a reputation for being harder than it actually is and the arpeggios in Funtwos version are relatively easy ones (Jerry C's version's sweeps are a little bit trickier). Speed-picking and hybrid-picking at the speed Eric Johnson does is in another league. Sweep-picking is one of those things where when you crack the right hand movement you wonder why it ever gave you trouble. Just get Andy James sweep-picking Lick Library video or some similar tutorial and practice with the guitar unplugged while watching TV or whatever, it's all muscle memory. With Eric Johnson, synchronising both hands with speed-picking at that bpm is much more advanced, and when you first try hybrid-picking (holding the pick as normal whilst also plucking strings with the middle and ring finger) it's almost like learning a new instrument.
Do you know any good ways to learn the speed-picking and that hybrid picking stuff?

Dude I just started to learn this song and I never realized how difficult it was to get down the rhythm riff or the sweeping. I used to think this song was simple but now that I try playing it I am tangled up with my hands.
for the 1:40 part the begin of sweep picking i just fund an easier method to do it with the same notes, at the begining instead of 12-11-9-10-9 do : 12-11-14-14-14 then it will be easier to do the 12-17-12 part because your hand is already at the good place

Man tis tutorial is sooo hard!!!! Its hard because once i get to the end of the intro i stop in amazment of how good you play. :) SO STOP BEING SO GOOD!!!!! LOL!!

Just a couple years ago I watched this and said "WHOA!!! this guy is the awesome!" Now i'm learning it and i have more than enough motivation to finish!
It boils down to practice and keeping your hands, fingers relaxed as much as possible even while playing fast..more you do the better you get...Although I am not perfect, with my experience I can tell you the technique (minimal movements for maximum speed), relaxation of hands, good warm ups, and enjoying music for soul are essential..You can check out my guitar cover "Neil Zaza I'm alright (Live Version Congruence)". I have tried sweep picking and you'll hear some bits of alternate picking too.
@MegaStratoblaster If I'm not mistaken, he's using the wolfgang guitar. Costs around 20000SEK ( approximately 3000$) but the guitar is definitely worth it's money. It's amazingly smooth to play on and it picks up EVERY little thing you do. A guitar worthy a god.

The drums are over dubbed, I imagine it's because it's a lot easier to play with the title track
after a week I learn this, these are the advanced techniques you must know: slides, hummer on, pull off, pre bend, Picking, Riffing, Vibrato, Alternate Picking, Legato, Bending one and 2 hand tapping, palm muting, pinch harmonics, tap harmonics, sweep picking. Once you got that you got it in the bag. And more PRACTICE!

It all depends on your playstyle. The way I play I can't do sweep picking too well but I can do the tremolo picking (the fast alt picking) Fairly well. You just need to start alt picking as fast as you can as long as you can and eventually you'll be able to do it as fast as he does it,
between 1:40 and 1:42 are the most insane riffs... using sweep picking! there are a lot of notes in just 2 seconds

dont give this guy credit for playing that well... he just shows the screen with notes... you must now go tell funtwo himself that he rocks.

Easy to see this is just the Jerryc version on the tab, and Funtwo plays it differently in so many places

@carpetwallman2 Scratch that, I'm the last comment I posted was wrong. The tab has him playing what is essentially a D chord (can't remember the exact chord name right off), without the open D string. He looks to be playing the same thing five frets up and a string lower. Instead of 2 fret of D string, he's on 7th fret of G string. Just looks that way to me.

@carpetwallman2 It's an octave up if I'm looking at it right. Second fret is fourteenth, third is fifteenth, and so on.

@SaveAreMusic its just an arpeggio played really fast the notes on here are not the same as he plays though it still sounds good if you play it really fast , what he play i believe is (string and fret) A12;D11;G9;B10;E9;(in an sweep picked manner) hammer on E12; finger tap and pull of E17 while holding E12; let go of E12 and hold E9; finger tap and pull off E21; then sweep pick upwards B10;G9;D11;A12 and hold and vibrato shortly
and dont forget to play really fast. thats what i think

@kibra1997 If you don't understand tabs, you probably can't learn this. The red dot thingy is impossible to create without putting it in a video. And tabs are essentially the exact same thing. The just aren't red.

Of sure isn't a simply guitar lesson but ISN'T IMPOSSIBLE !! If you play very slowly at first and all the day i'm sure in 1 year you can play like this if you have 2 years of practice .
It's like Eruption by Ban Halen it's practice all day 2 hours or more ! (sorry for my english but i'm french)

We have relatively smaller fingers and thinner hands which might be easier, but we might not have much strength without training.
