This was very helpful...I tried to do the button hole once on the HD and gave up after a couple tries - so started doing them by hand, but I'll try this again! I legit forgot the machine had a button foot - I kept pulling down the threader (which I've also never used).

Hi, I just bought a 3000HD to make Capotes. I understand the thread width and length options on the front of the machine but what are the two dials on the top? tension control? Do I need to change them ? If so, how? Thanks.

May be a needle clearance or timing issue. Bring it in for maintenance.
