  • I bought this abused Hilti hammer drill cheaply. It looked ugly but it was supposed to be in a working condition. However, selector switches were stuck and the drill didn't even start. So, I got to open the drill and try to get it working again.
    The drill was filled with hardened concrete dust which prevented airflow as well as jammed the speed selector switch. Rust was found all over the drill. Electric cable was broken and the electric switch had water inside of it. But .... in the end, after fixing minor things the drill works again. I still have to change the gear grease and clean the outside of the drill, but currently, I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

    I miss the wire sleeves on the flexible cable. In screw clamps it is nessesary to use them.

      I believe the extra wire is for the service light circuit.

      I think it means that the motor brushes are worn out. I'm not sure if the light in this model handles anything else. They are pretty easy to change so just order new brushes and change them of they are worn out. In some models the light needs to be reset separately but I'm not sure if it's the case with this model.

    Did you have to buy a new switch? If so where did you find it

      No. It ended up just being super dirty and full of dust. But I have a local Hilti dealership which sells spare parts so that was an option.

    Hello when hammer don't work what is the problem ? Is expensive to fix ?

    • @CheapskateProjects
      @CheapskateProjects  Před 3 lety

      If it otherwise works, it's probably the hammer selector mechanism which is broken. Just disassemble it untill you can see if some part has broken or just became loose. If it's just some plastic thing which has broken it might me easy to fabricate something if correct spare part is not available cheaply.
