  • Added 4 new South American cichlids to my 55 gallon tank. A Jack Dempsey, Salvini, Texas and Midis...or is it a red devil? Had to remove my 5" Albino Oscar because she wanted to kill all her new tank mates. Hillary, my Oscar will be getting her own 55 now.
I immediately noticed that the salvini cichlid look like it had slime on one of it's sides.
So I went ahead and treated the tank today with some fungus cure. so not only is the water ugly from day 5 of bacterial Bloom but it is also a greenish-blue because of the fungus. Also please note you guys, when you use some of these treatments it can dye the things in your tank. It will dye the sealant on your tank and any plastics in your tank will turn blue.

You are not boring me at all. I love this kind of stuff and I really would like to know how the Bacterial bloom situation is going

It cleared up. I battled a cloudy tank for 2 months. I added fish before I acclimated the tank. Large cichlids require more tank maintenance then other fish

Adding fish during bacterial bloom will encourage the bacterial bloom some more as your throwing the bio load all over the place while it tries to stabilize

@@DragonflyYogaStudios turns out I was in the same position, I thought it was cycled but it was still in process. Also, black out did work by temporarily killing all algae.

@@DragonflyYogaStudios during the cycle did you add prime or live bacteria to speed up the process of the nitrogen cycle?

@@gto11520 I sure didn't. This was my first tank from scratch and all new. I learned from my mistakes for sure
