    Dont pay attention to what many people say about certain cars or brands. I always loved Fiats. In 2008 I bought a 1995 mk1 Punto 55. A guy with a same car, days before I bought mine, told me not to buy it cuz this and that. I told him :"I am going to buy it and if its not good, I will see for myself". In May 2024 will be 16 years with it and I will never sell it or get rid of it. Absolutely fantastic car. Here in the UK, I got a2005 206 2.0hdi. Bought it in May 2021, with 99865 miles and its still going stong and super reliable and with almost 152k on the clock. One of the best diesel engines in the market. More likely a VW or BMW engine will fail than mine. People make fun and say nonsense but I just dont take any notice.

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes

      Personally I would choose the Suzuki Swift Sport over the Peugeot 207 GTi. The Peugeot is much quicker on paper at 175bhp, but needs a lot lot looking after, and has a lot of "Known Faults" which can bite you in the ass. The SSS is a much easier car to maintain on a daily basis, and feels more modern with it's keyless entry and start system, added to this it is so much more fun to drive, and can be modified on a budget. So it depends what your after, I think maybe the 207 GTi is a better looking car in most respects, but if want reliability and cheap parts when things go wrong, then it's the Swift Sport every time :)

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  Před 6 lety

      The only issue I had with my 207 GTi was lack of power, which I think was caused by carbon build up in on the inlet manifold, very common on these engines, and also some knocking noises from underneath, even after replacing the ARB bushes the noise was there, and I never did work out what it was? I would suggest making sure during your test drive that the power is where it should be, and there is no smoking, the Turbo works well, and doesn't make any noises. Apart from that I think they are pretty reliable cars :)

      Not sure on MPG figures for these, but a quick Google search will no doubt answer that, as to reliability..... It's not a great engine to be honest, if looked after it can be reliable, but it does have some issues, like carbon build up! Which means a huge loss of power, and can be costly, so if test driving One, make sure it's as quick as it should be, the suspension components can also fail just for fun, with ARB bushes needing changing every couple of Years for some reason. They used this same engine in the Mini Copper S (R56) and that has all the same issues. Great fun little cars both of them, but sharing this engine means they can both be prone to issues.

      Jamie williams Because it's tourqe limited in 1st and 2nd gear. 50% in 1st, 75% in 2nd and 100% in 3,4,5. To prevent wheel spin and excessive wear on the gearbox. A remap can adjust this but it's not recommended.

      If it was my money to spend, I would most likely go for a MK2 Seat Leon?
      Lots of after market bits to make them look nice, and the Diesel models can be re-mapped to well over 200bhp for not much money
      They are mega comfy cars (I had a 1.6 Petrol Sport few years ago) and are essentially a VW Golf so reliable and cheap to maintain too ;)
      I just really like the look of them, as they look like a 2 door coupe, but actually have 4 doors so practical
      Or I have been considering a Honda Civic Type R (FN2) again Honda reliability, and 200bhp - but the 2.2 Diesel model is mega quick too!! test drove One a few weeks ago, and trust me it's very quick! and you gotta love that spaceship dash set up.
      Hope that helps a little mate ;)

    These engines are not sluggish, they also chip up nice to 205-210bhp.
    When they feel sluggish the inlet valves are full of carbon and need cleaning or walnut blasting, the carbonisation is a known fault on these engines and the walnut blasting transforms them, but needs doing every 25-30000 miles.

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes mine was no where near 175bhp, and certainly needed the Walnut blasting, I would like to have a go in One again that actually was up to speed, maybe I should buy anther One ;)

      @robertcowling2306 Před 5 lety +1

      This engine also won engine of the year in 2007 in it's class 1.6.
      Obviously before all the known faults became evident 😂

      SPTuning in Hinkley walnut blast and remap these cars, bare in mind once uprated the blow off valve rubber diaphragm can blow especially in older cars. Easy fix get a gfb all metal blow off valve.
      Cheap FR beater when done, and I should know 😉

      Doesn't the carbonisation occur on all direct injection petrol engines?

    You seriously think the inside of the boot lid is supposed to look like that? It's missing all it's trim for fucks sake, that's why you've not got anything to hang your parcel shelf on. Guessing it's been crashed at some point and they've found a scrap replacement boot.

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  Před 6 lety

      Yes I realized it was missing the trim, and got replacements parts, looked much better after they were painted and fitted, but I did say during this video that I hadn't seen inside the boot until I started recording, hence why it was a surprise and a little confusing ;)
