My 75 yo mom had high cholesterol her entire life. Doctor gave her:
    1) cardio aspirin to avoid cardiac issues,
    2) gastroprotector to ease the side effects of the aspirin on her stomac
    3) statins to lower her cholesterol
    4) cortisone to calm the pain from the statins.
I told her if she didn't go Plant based, she wouldn't have lived enough to play with her grandchildren.
She went 95% plant based 4 months ago:
    Her cholesterol dropped.
Doctor removed the statins, then the aspirin with the gastro protector, then the cortisone. Just to share 😊

Dr. Mike has a video where he ate a vegan diet for 30 days. He said at the end that it caused him to be super gassy. people have been criticizing his dietary advice for a long time, theres hundreds of videos about how bad his understanding of nutrition is. but he refused to listen to literally any criticism whatsoever. if you cant take constructive criticism, dont expect people to feel bad for you when you fall on your face. especially when theyve previously given you advice that wouldve prevented the situation.
we also have to remember that he is not a nutritionist. most doctors only have a few hours of training on nutrition, max. so this entire time he has been giving advice he is entirely unqualified to give- that is a massive ethical dilemma.

*I’ve been eating 95% strict Carnivore for the past 3 years* (and red meat almost daily my entire life) *and my cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and HDL are all in optimal ranges.* My HDL/Trig. ratio and Chol/HDL are both optimal. I cook in organic butter, and beef tallow.
Personally, I have never really liked chicken, but I do have egg yolks (no whites). Especially fast food chicken, obviously regardless of whether you’re carnivore or vegan I think we can agree that fast food is terrible, but I do think chicken fast food is worse than beef in general.

Ive been plant based since I was 19. Im 31 now. I had LDL mostly in the 80 range my entire life during that period. Last year I got checked and it was 100 then 113 ldl, couldn't really explain it I hadn't become much less healthier. I also found out I had high LPa so it increases my risk from 40 percent to 2x for a heart attack all time. So, I am now on a low dose statin to bring my LDL below 70 and wait for therapies to lower LPa (phase 3 trials end this and next year so medicine will be available before the end of the decade almost certainly if not quite soon).
Keep in mind I have been an athlete most of this time and now I am an avid runner. Im not perfect but I am well above avg fitness for people in my age group and I am still taking serious precautions to lower my risk as you should too.
Don't be afraid of going on a statin if after many life style changes your LDL isn''t budging. Even being plant based, I went super low sat fat and high fiber (over 50grams a day) and it still didn't budge much. So for many of us its a genetic thing.
Good news is I have no side effects from the statin and the peace of mind I take from being on it while I wait for LPa therapies has done wonders for my mental health.
Don't smoke, don't drink or minimally, be plant based, keep your LDL low through diet and exercise if you can and go on meds if you need to. A penny in prevention is worth 100 bucks in cure.
Also, I take a baby asprin every night and beet root powder for general BP control. Mine is normal but it keeps it in a more optimal range!
Good luck to you all, we have mostly solved heart disease in people. Do your best to lower your risk now.

Love your videos, including this one. Idea for another video: my birth center sends a nutrition pamphlet home with every pregnant woman recommending the Brewers diet for their health as well as their baby's--but this diet says women should eat over 100 grams of animal based protein A DAY, with no restrictions on processed meat. An acquaintance's birth center just OK'd her to go on a keto diet while pregnant (!) When I told my nurse midwife--in response to her repeated emphasis on dietary protein like eggs--that I focus heavily on beans, fruit, and whole, intact grains as carb sources, she said I should limit them and avoid "high sugar fruits" as all of this can lead to yeast infections.

Which confused me because I know there are plant-based vegan collagen supplements and other supplements that have full spectrum plant-based vegan vitamins minerals and nutrients.
