Let's give it up to Olivia Rodrigo who sang as beautifully as the original artist, who didn't try to "stylize" or modify the vocals, but omg gave it up to the true and the wonder of Carly Simon. Hats off to this incredible singer!!!!

Sorry but Olivia has a far better voice! Also, Faster Pussycat did this song better as well! Carly only has a one key range basically & it’s almost like she talks through it! Olivia has a fantastic voice for practically any song!
@user-zq1px9yb7g Carly would be the first to tell you, and anyone listening, that she is a songwriter first, a singer second. So we could say that without her genius in songwriting, the others would have never have been able to recreate her essence, her spirit in HER song.

i love how theatrical olivia is in her performances, you can tell she really cares about the song and feels deeply and isn’t just going through the motions🩷 also my heart skipped a beat everytime they showed brandi singing along

LONG time Carly fan who so richly deserved this. Although I really wanted Carly to perform (she was in mourning for the loss of her sisters who died one day apart), I was absolutely thrilled with Olivia's performance. I'm sure Carly was impressed as well.

@@Snailmail1 Hi..it was so sad. Lucy and Joanna, both performers who had careers, apparently also had cancer, although that was kept quiet. By some stroke of horror, BOTH died a day apart. Carly was pretty shattered from the news reports I read, and she certainly wasn't going to travel. She's also older and I once read that she hates flying. I believe it is a highlight if a performer can do their own songs, but circumstances can crop up (health, family issues, etc.) and they don't always. I was disappointed that she didn't sing "You're So Vain" as she shocked people and sung it with Taylor Swift onstage a few years ago, but I totally get why she couldn't do it.
She is also not known for being very comfortable on the stage at the best of times. I think Olivia did an incredible tribute.

This is Carly's song, but Olivia hit a grand slam with this performance. She is so talented. I love her enthusiasm. I hope we will be watching/listening to Olivia for a long time.

The accolades given out to Olivia by the music industries' most iconic female singer-songwritters such as Carol King, Sheryl Crow and Alanis Morissette gives validity to her incredible talent. And the fact that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame reached out to a 19 year old Olivia to perform Carly Simon's most infamious song that reached #1 back in early 1973 speaks volumes how the music industry today feels towards Olivia Rodrigo as an artist. I just hope she doesn't have to wait 40 years to get her Induction ...
And what’s neat is that she (Olivia) came back to the 2023 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony and performed with Sheryl Crow singing “If It Makes You Happy” (another fantastic performance and a “Where Were You” moment as well).
Hopefully, Olivia get asked to do it again. 😊
