- He was probably one of the most influential army painters of the 90’s. Known for his speed and quality this man changed the army painting landscape 👍

As I myself painted a HUGE Howling Griffons army during the time of 8e, I can appreciate your dedication!
Cheers dude! It’s not an easy thing but am getting through them. Look out for more updates 👌👍
Number 179 was my first White Dwarf and I too spent countless hours staring at that picture on the back, and still do if I'm honest! Great work!
What a great WD 179 was. Yeah I still stare at that picture. It is the definition of 40k for me 👍
Good on you for going back to the good ol' days and realizing this army. Looking good!
Thanks mate. Yeah got full motivation for this project 👌
That’s a superb project and a very cool painting method. I’m just now basing my 2nd edition marines for a small escalation project, starting with the 2nd edition starter box and also painting them as griffons. But I hope I can do the base colors with yellow base and then Speedpaint red over the quarters. Excited to see how your project goes on.
Well cheers Alexander. I’ve just started some scouts so I’m hoping to crack through this quick quickly… that’s the plan but quarters can take it out of you lol. Please share pics of your progress love to see fellow Griffon commanders results ❤️👌
You've nailed them Jonny, they're looking absolutely perfect, great job ! :D
Thanks mate. Now got to do another ten 😅 lol
Great paintjob! Love me some howling griffons
Cheers mate. Yeah there just something about then I love ❤️
Great looking force Jonny. You have nailed the aesthetic.
Cheers mate. 👍❤️
Fantastic video. I really enjoyed the stroll down memory lane at the start. Those Howling Griffons look superb, and it is going to be wonderful to see the end result of this project.
Ahh cheers mate. I thought you might like the memories 😂
Screwball scramble....hot dang! What a game!
Hahaha damn I miss the 90’s 😂
@Jonny Watson Gaming I tell my little lad all the time that they don't do things like they did in the 90s anymore! Who needs an xbox when there was pogs, football stickers & screwball scramble haha!
Mate Pogs!!!! Hahaha yes!
@Jonny Watson Gaming who could have guessed that small circles of cardboard could be so flipping fun! Haha! Great video mate. The howling Griffin's look awesome. Thank you for the nostalgic memories you brought back! Take care mate!
Oooh this is exciting! Some lovely work on these chaps!
Yeah loving this project 👌
I adore this colour scheme! Great video
Ahh thank you. Look out for a finial army update 👌
Very impressive I think you've nailed how to paint yellow👍👍👍👍
Ahh cheers dude ❤
Looking great! Your videos are a good inspiration for me to work on my second edition Saim Hann project
Cheers mate. Really glad the vids are a form of inspiration make them all totally worth while thank you. ❤️👍
Big project Jonny, nice work.
Cheers mate. Yeah I’m hoping I’ve got it in me 😂
Great start! Keep it on!
Cheers mate. Yes just go to keep the momentum going 👍
One thing I admire about older versions of Warhammer is the low model count for a "proper" army. You didn't need a huge quantity of models, which made it relatively achievable. This compared to later ones (even late Warhammer Fantasy, or 40K 7th ed), where the army sizes were comically, prohibitively high.
Yep I totally agree. 👍
Masterful!!
❤️👌
Fantastic. Love the vids
Cheers mate. Yeah trying to up the production value 😂
@@JonnyWatsonGaming personally I find nothing wrong.
These look great mate.
But that's only 124 models!
That's a Battle Company plus Armoured support! 😇
Can't wait to see what additions you add.
Ahh thanks mate. When you say it like that it seems like it’s gonna be a walk in the park 😂
Working on some Scouts as we speak 👌
@@JonnyWatsonGaming
It's a long term project for most people and a good goal to set over time.
Personally I'm a batch painter so did 50 Despoilers/Assault White Scar Marines last week! 😇
Got Demi Company of White Scars on the table this week too.
Averaging 50 Marines a week can be a good pace but not to everybody's standard.
@@stillunsure7630 Wow that is some going!!! Great work!
@@JonnyWatsonGaming
Just about to put wash on another 50 today and start the next 55! 😇
Quick and simply colour schemes and Airbrush helps.
@@stillunsure7630 Ahh yes airbrushes are very useful. I dont get on with them myself, I hate the faff with cleaning it etc. Even so your numbers are extremely impressive
Bravo!
Cheers mate 👍
Nice work )))
Thank you 🙏 ❤️
Oh weird. Scrimble Scramble was called Snafu in America.
Haha no way!
Which bkue did you use? I don't think you ever said in the video. I'm also doing a 2nd Ed Howling griffons force due to this same photo of Fred's full company.
That’s amazing you gonna have a blast 💥 doing it. Here was my most recent vid on it if you haven’t found it yet. Warhammer 40,000, Howling Griffons Army Showcase

Hey mate. No I didn’t I found some griffon designs for decals and made my own. Here’s the link if you are interested bolterandchainsword.com/files/file/13-howling-griffons-decal-sheets/
Perfect. You’re a legend!
@@aglumm9469 no worries :)
Cool!
I remember getting that White Dwarf, second hand iirc.. A couple of months late? And brought it on a weekend to some nice little cottages.. Actually with the school´s student council which I somehow got into (no, not for the chicks!).. All I wanted to do was read that Battle Report.. And eat the good food, hehe...
Cute dogs BTW!
Hahaha good time was had 👍😂
