I took your anthropology course a few years back and loved every second of it. Thanks for another quality video
So much meaning in just a few minutes. Would that I had time to take your course.
Thanks!
I found your videos through Wes Lewis - I believe he shared your video about the Troost Divide - and I'm glad that he did because I absolutely love most of the video you post. Keep at it!
Thanks!
Love your work!! Peace 😁
Love this Mike!!! :-)
SO WELL SAID!!!!
Nope. I "worship" nothing and no one. It's no problem.
Username checks out.
I see someone watched Ted Lasso over the winter break! Hoping this coming semester has as great of an experience as mine
... again. Love that show!
@@mwesch Ah! I just checked it out for the first time this past week. And finished it in the course of 2 days haha
Don’t think it beats out The Good Place for me, but it’s very good!
Hard to imagine topping The Good Place finale.
Sorry friend, but you don't get to just define us out of existence.
I am an atheist myself. The point here is more about how we all have master values that often dominate our thinking without us even realizing it. In that sense the core "beliefs" of any person are rarely captured by the religious label they use.

_I am an atheist myself._
The original title of this video was "There is no such thing as atheism," right? So how can you be an atheist if there is no such thing as atheism?
Or did you change your mind in the past three days, which is why you changed the title? If you changed your mind, you might be better off just deleting the video and posting something else, instead.
It is not me talking. It is David Foster Wallace and he is making the claim that all of us *worship" and most of us (whether we are atheist, Christian, Buddhist, etc.) find that when we examine ourselves very carefully that we worship money, beauty, power, etc. As he says, the problem with this is not that it is evil or sinful, it is that it is unconscious. We don't know if Wallace saw himself as an atheist or not, but throughout this talk he seems to be identifying with them. There is no intent here to erase Atheism. It is just a a rhetoricical move to get us thinking. I changed the title because I didn't think my original title captured what he was saying and it seemed like some people were coming to the video with the wrong expectations and context to understand his message, which has nothing to do with atheism as most people think about it.

OK. That explains it, then. Thanks.
I must admit that I don't buy into that stuff about how all of us "worship." That seems to broaden the definition of the word beyond all practical usefulness. It's like how theists often claim that everyone has a "religion." But I was mostly just puzzled by the title.

_Why the attack?_
*What* "attack"? The original title of this video was "There is no such thing as atheism," so when he said that he _was_ an atheist, that seemed to make no sense. But he just explained that.
You thought _my_ comment was an "attack"? Well, tone _is_ hard to read in a CZcams comment, I guess...
