I discovered this song from Maggie Steifvater but I just discovered it's featured on Night Vale (i'm up to episode 28 so I'll have to wait) and OMG if I did not love this song already now I do.

Los tejanos editan su disco más grandilocuente, con un sabor a la épica electrónica de los ochenta. Jonathan Meilburg lleva comandando la banda desde una década, en esta ocasión se vuelva en el formato de protest song para hacer un alegato a favor del ecologismo. Él es ornitólogo de profesión -el nombre de la banda lo toman de un ave marina- y las letras son un canto contra EE.UU. por ser uno de los países más contaminantes del mundo. Canciones robustas, no exentas de dramatismo que gracias al ex Red Kross, Brian Reitzell (conocido por las bandas sonoras de "Vírgenes suicidas" o "Lost in traslation") se llena de capas de bonitos teclados como en "Quiet americans", "Blackchannels", "Radio silence" o "A long time away". "Jet plane and oxbow" es un buen trabajo, el noveno ya de Shearwater, con verdadera exuberancia en las melodías y una batería espléndida.

I'm compelled to comment, because no one seems to really understand what this video is about. This is an advertisement for the boutique hair salon in Oxbow, Mississippi. It's by the East Shore, North Creek neighborhood off 55, "EshoNorc", or as it sometimes gets labeled, "the hipster enclave of the South", though I don't think the derogatory term hipster is appropriate. The woman in the video is a top stylist, not sure if she's even American, but she is incredibly serious about her work and her personalized take on every customer's do. She wants to know the customer as best she can during the time-limited appointment, and see them express themselves emotionally so she will know exactly what is right for their "head canvas". The kid who shows up at the end of the video is the manager or owner who takes a particular pride in inspecting each stylist's work. It's a cool place, not on Yelp. Good haircut, fun karaoke experience.

It seems he sings it more truly in this video than in the written lyrics online.
