    A few comments have said "make sure you donate the art supplies" and I would like to say that I did in fact mention that I would donate any art supplies that were still usable, but most of them were not and I had someone help chop some of this video down for me as it was over 4 hours long, they cut the part where I mentioned donating the puffy paint once I realized it was still full and usable. But I ended up keeping it anyway. To make it clear, I am heavily eco friendly, I donate clothes, items, old toys, unused product and my art supplies in the past I have usually collected and sent to people. Most recently I sent a big box to a young girl who didn't have many art supplies. I just don't splash that all over social media because I do things like that in private, so while I appreciate you mention me donating unused supplies, I do. And I didn't throw anything out except old dried out paint that was unusable to anyone.

      At the end of the day being organized takes effort and when you're busy arting or anything you can either take the time to clean as you go or you're in the zone and need to keep moving and take the time to clean up later. 😖
      Of course for people who are comfortable in their clutter or have someone to clean it for them, they don't have to worry about either â˜ș

      ahhhhh yep, add-i (used to be adhd, inattentive type) is like this. i literally just... forget. like. i go to the kitchen to get a drink. the clock is blinking because a storm caused a flash brownout. i reset the clock. i leave the kitchen. much later, i am SO THIRSTY. i go to get a drink. I have forgotten the first time. the dishes distract me. i wash some of the dishes. i am now Irritated. I attribute it to letting the dishes get so dirty, and I'm now hyper-aware of little messes like crumbs in the kitchen. I have forgotten that I'm still actually thirsty.
      But... with everything. Everything. Especially art things. My office is... a chronic mess. I HATE that my office is a mess. Hate it. I am buried. I clean almost daily, an hour a day. I often spend more time cleaning than creating. And yet.
      This is why when people are warning me "Oh, you should get off your very low-dose meds because some people are *addicted*..." No, Debra. A normal-brained person gets addicted. I still can't even function on the ultra-low dose allowed by law because of people like you and non-ADD addicts who just want to pass a test at school. I miss doses because they can only be refilled on certain days by calendar and run out before refills are allowed by law, starting a terrible cycle of withdrawal and re-acclimation. Every few months. To achieve THAT level of not-messy. ::rolls eyes:: I totally, truly sympathize.

    Interior designer speaking, a little suggestion for the next organization video. Painting the inside of the dark cupboard with white paint will make the items in the back more visible. Right now, with not much lighting, you basically look into a black hole with items in it. A light colored wallpaper would do the trick too. :)

    The art side of my room looks about like the before, but I call it my organized mess. It looks messy and unorderly to someone from the outside, but I know exactly where everything is. You need a blue Sharpie? It's in the right desk drawer in the back under the Blue's Clues towel. Sticky notes? In the Victoria's Secret bag behind the basket of canvases on the left underneath the box full of calculators. Lmfaooo

      This is so accurate. My room has a corner where I keep all my supplies and at one point they all started appearing in other places so I just figured I'd buy a taller shelf and I more or less followed what she did as far as classifying what to put in each area. I know where everything is which is great so long as no one else tries to dig through it. But honestly the only way to really keep this organized is... well there isn't a way to do it. Even having a room just for arts and crafts you'll get tired and messy and just not clean up right away. At least that's what I've seen in my experience lol

    Whats your best organizing tip for your art supplies?!
    My favorites that I learned for this video:
    If you're limited in room, stack up if you have space vertically versus outwards IE use stackable containers
    Have clear containers that match and butt up against eachother with no space in between
    Pull everything to the front instead of pushing things to the back
    Pull everything out at once, get messy before you get organized so you can lay everything out at once
    Stack everything upright (my hack here for my paper and sketchbooks was to use a makeup palette holder)
    Utilize "shelf organizers" if you have lots of different things. This way you can see what is behind the other things instead of having to dig through everything to get to the back.
    I linked every product I used in this video in the description if you want to see what I used :) Thanks so much for watching!!

    I feel like this sounds like a rude thing to say but seeing that you dont have like a gigantic hoard completely full of art supplies left and right in a giant studio like some other art channels ive seen makes me feel like more, able to organize my own things?Relatable? Like seeing you be able to organize all your art supplies that isnt in a gigantic studio while holding a whole bunch of just a bajillion art supplies makes me feel more connected to you i guess. I don't have alot of room so i don't have the best organization (alot is on the floor) but seeing you able to roganize your stuff very well in a small area itself makes me feel like ill be able to organize my own! And i don't mean that people shouldn't have a huge amount of art supplies because they all work hard to earn everything they get and absolutely deserve it but i feel more...i guess connected to you in a way? Im not sure but love your art and videos and the patience you have to paint for literally hours

    Chloe, I love you but please be careful about just saying "that's bad for the environment (and is bad)". I understand that you meant that with the best intentions, but that kind of mindset, and promoting that kind of mindset, leads to judgment on people's individual circumstances.
    I'm disabled and sometimes the only way I can get clean is to use a wet wipe. I know you would say that's fine, but I have heard plenty of people say that any usage at all is bad - and that kind of thinking is just a more black-and-white version of what you said. I've known people who are visibly disabled get evil eyed for using plastic straws, when many disabled people need them and alternatives won't work.
    Targeting single use products is great, but it shouldn't be the main goal of any environmental activism to disallow them or demonise people who might use them (not saying you're doing this, it's just a problem I have with a lot of environmental activism). What we need to be doing is looking at ourselves and our lives holistically. You were upset about using wet wipes when you bought multiple acrylic plastic containers online and had them shipped to your house. In the span of time, the containers will be here long after the wet wipes have degraded. But even before that, you have the production of the chemicals for the plastic, the transporting of the plastic nurdles, the manufacturing of the containers, the energy usage of listing them online, the energy usage of you buying them, and the pollution from them being delivered to your house. And how are any of these workers being treated? We know Amazon workers are treated horribly, but what about in any of these factories? What about the company that produced them? What about the company that produced the plastic for them?
    I'm not judging you for this at all, because it's just not something you think of. You are not to blame for the problems, the companies are. So we need to be targeting the companies above all else - including to make wet wipes more environmentally friendly - and look at the changes we can make in our own lives to better facilitate that. Practice what we preach, y'know? Find the points in our lives where we could be doing better (not perfect, just better) and working out how to do that.
    No one person is ever going to produce no waste and no pollution/damage to the planet. It's impossible, especially right now at this point in time. Disabled people are often seen as a burden on other people, and on the environment due to the amount of things we are unable to give up or need to survive. I use wet wipes, fleeces, have multiple electronic devices. I ideally need to use cars. I pollute the water system with the amount of medication I'm on. I order almost everything I have online and have it delivered to me from the other side of the world. But I have looked and I can't give it up. I can't make my life uncomfortable for someone else to feel better about themselves for ~saving the planet~. However, I am a vegetarian/mostly vegan, because that is a major source of pollution and I don't want to be responsible for the slaughter of intelligent, sentient animals. I am working on a garden and hope to grow a lot of my own vegetables. And I actively avoid companies that treat their workers and the environment poorly, and I tell other people to, too.
    These are the kind of mass changes we need to make, collectively, as individuals. We need to stop looking to ourselves and to others to stop this when we can do very, very little to change anything. The people in power in governments and in giant corporations (like Disney!) are the ones who are able to fix this. We need to stop telling other people to give up plastic straws or whatever because the main source of plastic pollution in the ocean are discarded fishing nets from mass commercial fishing. Stopping buying products that pollute is a good first step, but not everyone can or will. So we need to look to those companies and governments to make better products and deal with the harsh reality right now, however unpopular. Ultimately, we need to look past this system of capitalism and consumerism. Buying things and showing them off, rinse repeat.
    I'm sorry this only partially related to what you said in the video, which I know you meant as a throwaway line out of good intentions, but I really have a lot of issues with how environmentalism is currently being handled and aimed at individuals, and I needed to explain that to explain why I think people should be more careful about this kind of thinking. Again, I really like you and your videos, and I personally also do art and crafting so I know that there are a lot of earth-unfriendly products that you kind of have to buy if you want to create high quality etc. pieces. I also love tidying so I loved this video! I got part way through redoing my bedroom when the pandemic struck and now it's partly done and moving slowly, but this has really gotten me in the mood to do some cleaning and organising around here! (pity it's 11:30pm lmao). Anyway sorry for the massive essay about environmentalism and disability on a gosh darn organising-art-supplies video. I literally have three essays I need to write for uni and none of them are about this or supposed to be submitted through youtube comments haha why have I done this to myself

    • @khills
      @khills Pƙed 3 lety

      While I agree with your overall points, I think there are some inconsistencies here. For example, how do you avoid companies that treat their workers poorly while simultaneously having everything shipped to you, when the shipping companies themselves treat workers poorly? How can it be problematic for someone to say that it’s bad to use single use plastic items and they don’t want to because it harms wildlife but it’s not problematic for you to say you’re vegan because you don’t want to harm sentient creatures?
      Again, I think you have the right of it-and I’m disabled, and affected by many similar things, from the sounds of it-but I think you fall into the same exact trap Chloe’s falling into, of offering subtle and likely unintentional judgment about things people do that you morally disagree with. Imploring folks to remember that frequently, “convenience items” for able-bodied folks are things that started out as accessibility items for disabled folks (like plastic straws!) is great and needed and wonderful, but I think we have to be careful when we talk about the steps we take individually to minimize our footprint, because we can so easily judge without realizing it.
      (This is what happens when philosophy academics avoid their work, too. Procrastinating on CZcams is something we all do, regardless. 😂)

    • @rosehipowl
      @rosehipowl Pƙed 3 lety

      @@khills I do, for the most part, avoid companies that treat their employees badly, although I acknowledge that shipping companies are hard to avoid, much like major conglomerates. I also aim to consume less overall, which is what I advocate for in my comment. That not only saves money, it also avoids buying into the system that enables the abuse of the planet and humans.
      I don't think it's bad for someone to say to not use single-use items, but I don't think that should be the goal of environmental activism, nor something that should be seen in such black and white terms. I think it can lead to harmful ideas which inevitably affect disabled people when there is no allowance for necessity or acknowledgment that single-use items aren't the biggest pollutant. Nor is advocating for individual change like that really going to affect much. I know that my not eating meat isn't statistically changing anything. I know that my telling people that animal farming is the biggest force for climate change is going to not really do much. That's why I am trying to opt out of everything as much as I can: reusing, making things myself, stopping buying unnecessary products. That's also why I tell people in any discussion about environmentalism to target the company/government, not the individual. Individuals cannot stop climate change and the rising global temperature. It's simply not possible at this point. Instead of telling people to not buy wet wipes, look up to see how long it takes for a single wet wipe to biodegrade, tell people about that and tell them to contact the company and contact their governments. Instead of buying multiple acrylic containers because some people said that they're better for organising, buy wood or some kind of biodegradable container. If you're going to advocate for other people being eco-friendly, you have to start with yourself, and you have to be telling the truth/giving the right information. Wet wipes are bad for the environment, and so is the internet and electronic devices and a lot of food people eat. It's too difficult to change that on our own because these are necessities to us now, especially for poor and disabled people and especially now while we're struggling with lockdowns etc. So we need to look to the root of the problem, not the symptoms. Saying to not use wet wipes is like trying to put a plaster on a person's infected gaping wound. It's not even going to begin to cover it, let alone fix anything.
      (glad I'm not the only one lmao)
