  • The last of the 4 “Core” models I had spend a week with me in the studio. This one, from 2020 has BRW fingerboard and some very nice inlays, 58/15s & narrow field pickup, a trem and some coil taps…Pretty feature rich. Lots of tonal variety on tap. Swiss army guitar.
    Thanks for watching/subscribing/commenting etc…
    Be well,

Great demo. I have a wood library version of this guitar and it's the best guitar I've ever played. I agree with the near field pup interfering with normal picking - that's my only gripe - but after a year I've gotten used to it. It's a small trade off I can live with ;-) Thinking about a 594, possibly semi hollow to compliment/backup.

  • @fredjaeger690

After seeing several online videos of this instrument I knew it was pinnacle guitar art. Every tonal option is absolutely brilliant. There is the tele that comes close to the telly sounds this guitar makes. Single coil sounds are in credible. The clarity of the tones shines like a bell. Do you have everything else in between, and Clapton to Townsend to BB and Duane. it feels absolutely perfect in the hand. I sold a one off custom-made G&L legacy and a hot rodded flame top Gibson Nighthawk and my American Strat to get it and two years later I have no regrets.

It's my main guitar as well - I modded it of course - isolated the middle narrowfield, added a series parallel mini toggle for said narrowfield, added a pre-amp with an on/off toggle and bright switch exactly like the PRS Super Eagle these are loosely based off of. Changed the treble bleed cap value for a better volume taper more to taste (I don't like my tone mellowing out so much when reducing the volume). I also blocked the trem, which makes it sound better, and sustain longer, but I do miss the trem capabilities somewhat.

Just ordered one of these today without ever playing one. Not always a recipe for success, but it’s a PRS so I’m not worried about getting a dud. I decided I’d comment because I just finished the part where you mentioned why it wasn’t the guitar for you - namely the fact the Narrowfield is positioned right where you would normally pick. That is definitely something I’m nervous about. This won’t be my first guitar with a middle pickup, but will be the first with HB in both the neck and bridge. The tonal variety of the Special was too difficult to pass up though; plus, scored a pretty good deal on a brand new 2024. Fingers crossed. 🤞

It’s the Kemper stage. No pedals. Top Jimi profiles. Marshall Silver Jubilee, Fender Deluxe Reverb, Dumble clone. There’s no mic or outboard gear. Just my phone about three feet off the ground in front of the speaker.

@@slipkhein66 the profile is actually a different process than a model. The profile is created by plugging the Kemper into a real amp. So in this case that’s a really sweet vintage Deluxe Reverb from ‘64. So it’s basically a snap shot of the amp. But it’s not as versatile as a model. The prices tend to sound best when you don’t mess with the gain too much. So there are often multiples as various gain settings.

@@jacksnax4guitar460 Well, it's true, the audio might be from a speaker, but there's a certain romance in feeling the vibrations of a real tube amp shaking the room.
