- ** We're moving chickpeas out of the bins into bags to keep the grades separated. The chickpeas actually keep better in the bags - in our experience anyways.
** Bags are a love/hate relationship đ they have become a cheap temporary storage solution that make it very efficient when it comes to harvesting, they just make grain go away fast! đ

Nice to see some Fendt Tractors on the other side of the world, they are build here in our small city in germany with a population of only 18 k, but are shipped worldwide. :) Love to see this in action
I use to work on the ships that hauled them out of Bremerhaven to ports around the globe.
When starting a grain bag, we used to use a couple 2 x 4 pieces of lumber each about 5 or 6 ' long with one on either side of the bag to pinch it shut. We'd nail the boards together and that would sufficiently close off the ends of the bags to seal them. Tough grain would preserve in a bag cuz of lack of air. The worst enemy of the bags were ravens. They'd sit on the bag and their claws would make holes that rain would get in and spoil some grain. We were always watching and taping the holes shut with a special grain bag tape. There's nothing like bins, lots of bins but if you're short of bin space the bags are a very good option.
Fell down the CZcams rabbit hole and here I am, a Wisconsin (USA) guy watching farm videos.
Iâve been following other farmers on CZcams and it suggested your videos. I enjoy watching all of you guys work and the love you have for farming. Sadly, our family sold their farm way back in the 1950âs. Since Iâm 38, I never had the chance to enjoy said farm. So, I get to âhangâ with you guys.
Watch out for Welker Farms (Montana) to the south of you (another CZcams channel I follow.). Great group of guys down there in the olâ USA. I thought their farm was big, but yours has to be massive.
Again, thanks for letting someone like me follow the life of a farmer. Iâm adding you guys to the list of farmers to follow:
Welker Farms
10th Generation Dairyman
And you guys.
Haha thanks good sir đ
Oh crap, political trollbots have been released. Hey bot 71113, this guy is not in the US :P)
Edit:about channel description that i have copy pasted ===> Description:Trump2020
Foodways Distribution : Your comment makes zero sense. At no point did I say anything political in my comment. I am also well aware that the CZcamsr lives in Canada, just north of Montana.
If you are implying that I made a political comment, solely by my profile picture, you have problems.
I could watch this kind of videos for hours
Hello I love your videos, that AKRON is manufactured in my country ARGENTINA!!!. I am from CĂłrdoba-Argentina, where it is manufactured and exported, I loved seeing that they are used, I am also a farmer we make corn, soybeans and wheat, a Greeting from Argentina
Here in Argentina it is the way most used by farmers to store their grains
Mike we bring out a couple 2 by 4s and screw them together on the end of the bag to seal it up. That way when extracting out of the bag you can suck the extractor right up the the 2 by 4 and almost have to do no shoveling. We mostly use it for starting the bag but yiu can also close the bag with ut
Hey Mike, im from north Dakota,I run a tire service truck, doing tractor tires and semis. I know how to do all kinds of tires, but never really understood the farming side, watching ur videos has enlighten me and gave me more knowledge to do my job better, thank u
As a fellow farmer it's very nice how you explain stuff
This channel is just awesome. The way you explain everything in detail and in a very simple way is so refreshing Mike. Wish you the best for the rest of the harvest from Kenya
Wesley from Kenya, you took the words right out of my mouth. I could not have said it better. Thank you.
@@ottoneidlinger4938 Yeah, he is awesome. There are a lot of farming channels out there but this supersedes them all. Am glad I found it
Another tip Mike. Don't shoot at coyotes laying on top of bag. Our neighbour did that one year and was 6 inches to low and split the bag wide open and canola all over the place. I think I learned new words that day.
nice video...thank you for uploading this video đđđ
Why am I binge watching this dudeâs channel? :) (because itâs soooo cool!)
hold the Argentine industry !! proud to see Akron machines abroad
thank you! these types of videos show the differce skillset you farmers have, respect!
@John Bee yeah haha not a native English speaker
I just love watching your show you're the nicest person ever
All 8 personalities lol

Stay safe Mike! I don't know if you've heard but a 17 year old kid lost his hand in a grain bagger just north of Gull Lake. Stay safe during harvest boys.
The most valuable piece of information you can give Mike is teaching Common Sense! You sir are the man!
Mike: every farmer has their opinion on how to bag grain.
Mine: save yourself the manpower and headache and buy more bins.
True! But bins come at a cost, the man power we have ot have regardless of how many bins we have.
More bins tho is the ultimate goal
We bag some of our grain here in Nebraska! We use 2x4 and long screws, screw them together then roll the bag a couple times. But make sure the beginning of the bag is triangled shaped
Discover your channel. Great videos. I know nothing bout farming what so ever. I like how you explain stuff.
Great video again Mike, nice and interesting as always. Every year a farmer and the people around try to learn and try to improve things, like where to best put the bag and what exact procedure to follow in order in filling it and what product to best put in there. Explained in very nice detail. Thnx as always, easy chickpeasy đđđ
Probably the cleanest farmers hand I ever seen đ
Very interesting. Have seen these bags but knew nothing of them. Thanks for sharing.đ·đ
Iâve done this with an old Aussie Chamberlain 4080 tractor. Thatâs the worst job someone can give you while harvest at 45Degrees and dust all overđ
I 'd like to see them getting the peasout of them bags again!
Great videoâs. You are real and donât have the fancy editing. My favourite part is you donât have annoying family members (Daddy) in your videos.
Try engaging the diffs on the bagger tractor while filling. It works pretty good to keep the bag straight. It gives you more time to get back and forth from the grain cart to the bagger.
Mike explains everything. He's very good at it.
I like your work. Nice machinery. Greets from Mecklenburg đ€
Somehow stumbled across your channel, would have moved on but your explaining everything...I subscribed
Always wanted to know how you started the bag , just have memories of you guys in the snow emptying one looks an awful job .
Mike, this is so interesting to me. I had a dairy back in the 70's. So many things have changed in the last 40 years. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and operations.
Hi Mike!! I'm from Argentina and also a farmer, custom Planting and seeding too. I've been following you, great videos man. It's the first time I see you show your brother, I really liked that!
Bagging without someone steering is always a pain. Turning the diff lock on is supposed to help, but not perfect. Unfortunately auto steer doesn't work in neutral.
My neighbor using GPS for bagging, but I havenât seen it with my own eyes and heâs sketchy so donât quote me on it.
@@xSCHEF it could work if I look into it more, usually forget about it until we've already started
Andrew Eisses aight brother let me knop if you remember me after testing. We donât have JD GPS though lemme mention that first.
@@xSCHEF ya ours is john deere
Andrew Eisses I wonât put my faith in JD lately but their GPS is one of the frontrunners still.
Putting a bag on... not quite a nightmare but its close.. Always worried your going to catch and tear it. Our 706 was perfect on our machine. hardly ever had to touch the wheel even! Would keep it going straight. But we were doing hay and corn silage little different that grains. Moisture corn we had to baby sit it a little more but we always had custom combining so we had the man power to spare then.
We handle pinto beans so we put variable frequency drives on our bin augers. It's a lot easier on beans and augers. They are not cheap so we put them in boxes and take them from bin to bin.
Grandad always had a long board with 2 spikes. He would spike it to the ground to hide the tire straight for about 15 feet at a time.
Thus was very cool.i have never seen a crop get bagged before.where I am from if we dont have enough bin space the farmers either rent more or just sell the crop.verh rarely they will put grain on the ground for a short time .
That is a nice result.đ
Another awesome informative video thanks again for the share Mike and letting me be part of your site here always ready to watch the next Video I agreed with what you said about JD new combine why are they so secret about it you would definitely think they would be singing itâs praises but not a sound I have bagged a lot of grain in my time boy you need to keep them puppies straight to help on the unloading them wow keep up the awesome work Mike
I was considering a bagger the last few years. Glad I haven't purchased one because of my last few crops, but it might not be a bad idea for the future
Good luck combining the rest of your 2020 crops Mike
These bags are also used for silage like chopped corn, brewers grain and pressed pulp.
Akron made in Argentina. here the whole country uses them
Great video Mike keep up the fantastic work you do.
Thanks Mike!
I felt for the guy in the Fendt, he looked dead at you when the brake let go and shoved the tractor knowing you were pointing at him noting the mistake to everyone. Lol âoh no Mikes pointing at meâ lol!
Love the explanations, youâve become one of my top channels. Hope the X9 works out for demo.
Whats the problem with pointing out someone's screw up? The video he made before this one explains that Deere backed out of the x9 demo.
farm.central. ohio I should have put a laugh in there, I meant to point out it gave me a chuckle like âoh no Mikes calling me outâ lol.
Mike, has the 1050 got a place on the farm now? Seems too small for the big jobs and too big for the small jobs!
Looks like itâs time for more bins
I love watching your videos keep up the good work Mike
you have everything for people
This was actually incredibly informative. I always wondered how they get so tight.
I thonk i get that.A small amount of psi over the large area of the bag adds up to a lot.No wonder it can push the tractor
Now this is first time I've seen this operation. I hope you can get this to market . Great video. Maybe some day you introduce your brother Terry.
đŠđ·đŠđ·akron = Argentina.
Congratulations Mikeđđ
What are chickpeas even used for? Never heard of them until i stumbled across one of your Videos.
Big thanks for the great content, it never gets boring.
For food
They are great boiled with codfish. Juts a bit of olive oil and garlic.
Iâve had a garbanzo bean stew made by a former engineer whoâs hobby when working in India, Japan, etc. was cooking & taking cooking classes. He opened the Good Karma restaurant in Park City UT. Delicious.
@Wikkitt Klown Hummus kicks ass actually...and healthy for you.
If only there was some kind of network of computers hooked together so one could look up information.
put some auto steer in the grain bagger tractor. set your first bag perfectly straight then you'll have a bag that is perfectly straight and parallel to each other every time
doesn't work that way
Thatâs great, I loved to see young guys go for it with your enthusiasm and energy. Keep up the great videos. I would have liked to see how the new Deere compared to your Fendtâs . To bad they cancelled. I see some Hutterites have done a demo
4:40 Case: "We are developing autonomous tractors" Mike: "Hold my grain cart, we already have those"
Mike who and how many take care of the bookkeeping. You have a massive operation and I bet the income and expenses, paying bills, payroll etc is a big deal!! đ€
Hey Mike, .... congrats with the 65k subs today .... đ đ
Thanks! đ
I love yours videos đ from Sweden đžđȘ
That is very interesting Mike always wondered how they fill those big bages
I'd die to get a 516 on our farm.. will nearly be the biggest tractor of our neighbourhood here, u just got it chilling there doing some basic stuff haha
The whole grain bag thing is pretty neat, I was really surprised to see how well the unloading process went in last winters videos, well minus the water, lol. Is there anyone that is recycling the spent bags or do you just call in a dumpster service when your done with them?
Why don't you set a GPS line for the bagging Fendt? That way you got a straight bag and don't need someone to steer the tractor.
Autosteer doesnât work in neutral
If they could get GPS to work without the tractor moving it would be awesome. I know I could have used a time or two.
Also, at least in our Fendt, autosteer gets deactivated if there is noone on the seat
@@europalette3640 You can just put a rock or a bag in the seat, but i have never tried if the autosteer works in neutral..
Always wanted to do that đ
bonjour Mike merci pour tes vidéos !
c'est pratique pour un stockage temporaire mais quelques inconvénients : humidité, rongeurs, reprise
the akron machine, used for bag silos, is produced in Argentina!
Yes I from Argentina
Thx Mike very informative....Great video đđđđ
Hi mike, last year we put our magnum 380 on the grain screw, that was funny to see
Good video thank you sir keep up the good workđđœ
This brings back memories....
Gotta be tough running that farm so much to do and keep track of, HATS OFF TO YA...
Diff lock helps keep bags straight
Nice video!!! Thanks for share.
"Thicknesses is your friend"
Well they do say girth is more important than length đ
It
She likes both...
Mike's content is always great
Time to put hand in pocket for some more bins!
I hate the bags with a passion...the tear open from the deere steady..and a few times snowmobiles drove over them and ripped them open.
Well that was an unexpectedly cool and informative video Mike!!! Hey, can you possibly do an in cab harvest video with the 860 Massey????
They use those bags around here and put what I assume is silage in there to ferment for feed for livestock.... Anywho, just always wondered how you filled them big ass bags
The Akron machine is made in Argentina my country, he is far away from home jajaja
Que?
You should make a video of you going around the farm and counting every single Bert you can find. P.S. love your vids!
..... NEW COMER..... love your chit Buddy....
Ag Tech should be taught in school. People are so ignorant about the basics of how a successful country operates.
Nice drivetrain whine from the tracked jd ;)
Hi Mike, great videos. Do any farmers use portal frame buildings for crop stores in your country ? In the UK we typically build sheds with precast concrete walls. Best wishes from Yorkshire.
Mike do you have a cleaner and dryer have you showed us it yet ? would be interesting to see your set up and the Capacity thanks grate video very interesting Iâm sure Iâve learning more from you video then watching anything Iâve watched before thanks đ
Great video Mike
I wish to know more about those bags since is something that I don't know a lot about.
Now that you donated your tent to store chickpeas, are you going to get a trailer like your brother?đ
you should look into Foremost smooth wall grain bins with a 360 degree aeration system
Hope u r ok...miss your videos
Chickpeas look like a pain. I'm glad someone grows them because I like humus
Take a single bottom plow and make a track so the tractor tires flow the rut.
Great video! Thanks Mike.
Fold end of bag and put between to pieces of 4x2 and nail together.
We want to see a Bert on the grain bags....or something!
Haha the Bert's are on the 16" by 104ft long augers
@@mikemitchell2554 Show them running sometime if you get time.
Makes for expensive chick peas moving them around like that haha
I know it isn't exactly "cool" but if you're short on man power you can get a small 1" ratchet strap and wrap it around the steering wheel and tie it to the base of the seat so the tractor goes straight while you're filling bags up lol and technically doesn't violate osha regs because it identifies as a "dumb artificial intelligence" đđ
