and it also has mechanic that I like such as arena type duel system, it looks so real and fun system not to mention kungfu like combo move like real life shaolin move. new unique weapon for almost character , unique expanded skill system for each character, etc.

To me DW6 was great the only thing I didn’t like was the clone movesets they had for most characters and the Renbu system needed more polishing as well. However they made revolutionary changes such as for the first time you can swim, climb siege ladders etc. the soundtrack was amazing and siege battles felts like siege battles. Hu Lao Gate was the best in the series in 6. And Graphics was to me it was the best in series better than 7. 7 for some reason looked too dark. However character wise in 7 was more detailed than in 6.

    • @ImmoralFlame
      @ImmoralFlame Před 4 lety +4

I totally agree with you there, DW6 added a lot of good things to the formula despite the smaller character roster, clones and poor combat with the renbu system.
The flow of the battle in 6 is pretty good (and in fact it was the last game of the franchaise in which you could actually lose and that wasn't completely scripted) also, as you said, the siege battles from 6 are without a doubt the best ones the series has to offer (honestly I was really disappointed when they dropped them out on DW7 and 8).
At least for me the problem is that while DW6 felt like a genuine atempt to change the franchise DW9 just feels like a lazy game that mainly relies on following the Ubisoft style open world trend (which unfortunately doesn't resonate at all with the style this series is known for).

I agree, I wish they’d really experiment with their genre like they did with this game. So much of that game worked and given the time it came out in, it was pretty dope to me. The clone moves and stuff was definitely a weird one, but idk it added longevity to the game for sure because me and my brother had a blast unlocking new characters and seeing new stories, etc. I hope that they experiment with one piece Pirate Warriors 5 or 6 like they did with this but yknow learn from the past. These games can offer so much more than what they do now in every aspect. Modes, character mechanics, maps, etc. it’s just that they don’t do it.

There's only one thing that Tecmo Koei needs to have stapled to their collective ass when it comes to the Dynasty Warriors franchise:
STOP MESSING AROUND WITH A CHARACTER'S UNIQUE WEAPONS!
I don't care if they're not historically accurate! No one plays Dynasty Warriors for realism, AND THEY SHOULD KNOW THAT BY NOW!
Sun Ce: TONFA! TONFA! TONFA! Sun Ce swinging around a long-ass pike like so many other characters looks stupid and unnatural!
Zhang He: CLAWS! CLAWS! CLAWS! He is the Vega of the Dynasty Warriors universe, and he should stay that way!
Guan Ping: DON'T EVER TOUCH HIS BASTARD SWORD AGAIN!
Huang Gai: GIVE HIM HIS LITTLE SAIL BOAT WEAPON BACK! It was funny and also fun to use!
Xiahou Ba: I loved his giant motor drill thingy! He was literally Rocket Knight Adventures Reborn!
I could go on, but you guys get the point. I hate clone-crap! That's what turned me off from DW6 and DW9. But what really gets me angry, is that Koei has made unique character move sets and weapons for each individual character in the past, so they really have no excuse to not implement them. I can only hope they wake up before Dynasty Warriors 10 comes out.

Bring back roll/avoid, parry/counter attack while blocking enemy attack, and duel when the allies and enemies made a circle and we duel with enemy officers in the middle of circle. Breaking camp's gate with our weapons is so good. And also we need to wait our allies to build a ram to breach the big gate it felt more realistic.we can also climb a ladder to destroy every ballistas on the gate so our allies can build ram and catapult easily

I think other than 4, DW6 might have had the best soundtrack of Dynasty Warriors. Also, saying graphics from one generation to the next on a console...I'll say that just isn't fair at all. Megaman 2's graphics are much worse than Megaman 7, 8, X5, X6, X7, and X8, but 2 was on the NES...it's not Megaman 2's fault that it was released on a system with much worse graphics...Instead, you should look at how well the game looked at the time of release compared to other games of its generation. For example, Chrono Trigger or Super Metroid had great graphics for its time, but there is no way those games can compare to graphics from this era.

The old school ps2 DW games are by far my favourite ones and i play them to this day deleting my old saves to max them out from scratch. Just from memory the character designs and maps from dw6 are my favourites out of any DW game which makes it very enjoyable to me. Also calling the horse and in some battles being 3 teams fighting at the same time was so good! DW9 while i'm in the progress of finising the few characters i have left to max it really doesn't bring much joy to me at all. Playing through some stories was mostly boring and i really didn't enjoy my time, also free mode 2p with my brothers was the absolute best and i hope if a DW10 comes it has free mode online. Your vids have helped me realize that i need to go back to DW7 and 8 as i played through DW7 Jin mode and the damn weird mode that replaced free mode and quit. For DW8 i just did Lu Bu's story mode and quit, also did some challenge modes to get rank 1 on leaderboards for a few characters. I want to thank you for the great videos and although i'm a huge DW6 fan i do respect your opnion and aknowledge many of your points, i just hope DW10 will have old school feel to it with a free mode online and i'll be so damn happy!

Your taste of story sucks lol. While DW9 repeated reaction during the cutscenes suck, the 3D VN-like style of presentation, 3D JRPG style of storytelling is actually a nice idea. It's just unpolished, being the first DW entry to use this method. They had reference from RoTK series, but that's still not DW.
Also please the babyface Liu Bei is perfect for the early part of the story (where DW6 focused on a lot.) While DW9, bcs of it's method of narrative and length of story, has to have 2 version of Liu Bei.
ps.: and there's nothing you can do with Xu Shu only having 1 chapter. Bcs in the original novel, he only has that part. There's also a lack of historical reference for him, with his story being preserved mostly only on oral folklore originally (before then Luo Guanzhong collected with, spinned it off, and made the RoTK we know today.) He's not at Zhuge Liang's or the 5 Tiger Generals' level of revered, after all.

You forgot that DW6 have the best defensive option in the series. When you block, you have 4 option, either initiate a weak/strong throw or weak/strong counter. All of the strong options allowed you to break guard. Also, Dodge helps you cancel the animation and alot of DW6 tier tester like me used that shit ALL THE TIME in Master and Chaos difficulty.

  • @Desiamorie
    @Desiamorie Před 4 lety +4

For DW9, you forgot about skill points. You can "upgrade" you character with skill points. Every time you level, you get skill points to add to a specific state (Health, Power, Speed). You can also you Books of Musou to allocate skill points outside of leveling. With enough books, it is possible to have all maxed out stats at level 1.
Combat for DW9, you completely ignore the reaction queues this game gives. The "Y" appearing over enemy heads are triggers for reactions: charging in, countering, and executing. The orbs you have equipped on your character can also enhance counters or cause an effect affect the counter. Example: I can have an orb that increases damage from countering, or another other that gives the enemy poison status when countering.
I understand that there's "no character progression" beyond leveling and skills for DW9. The person who actually progresses is the player and the characters. Unlike in DW6, in DW9: players retain all gold, housing, weapons, materials, ammo, mounts, pets, scrolls, etc. regardless what character they are on. Those orbs you equipped on a weapon you used for Lu Bu on your last play-through and be used on Yu Jin. Honestly, thank goodness they did this. Imagine trying to put all of the progression onto the characters alone and you go to another character and you have to start all over again. It would be aggravating. Imagine keeping map exploration progress limited to characters and not to the player. There's go all of your fast travel options to get needed materials quickly.

I don't get that most of the times when Koei thinks: let's do something new! They throw out 10+ years of gameplay experience and 10 freaking years of learnings on the Empires games. Instead they throw in something broken as fuck that nobody asked for and struggle to get a game past beta stage. SW, Orochi, Kessen, Empires, Tactics, Strikeforce. Use all these spin offs and experiments and build onto the base game with them.
Combine interactive story, branching paths, war councils from Kessen 2 with army building, governing and strategy from Empires/Tactics, character switching from WO/SW4, what ifs and actual boss fights from Strikeforce/XL (and your competitor Sengoku Basara) and add onto the charge system with stuff like the running charge, grabs, guardbreaks, dodge moves, different charge builds from SW to make a DW game that dominates the genre again.

I think the next iteration of DW should not only, as they have said, go back to stage by stage but keep the levels bigger and more objective base. Implement a posture like combat system. Something akin to sekiro but mainly for bosses, bring back duels, get rid of grapnel hooks, get rid of triangle finisher attacks (or at least make it available when their health is basically 0), give wei yan his dw4-5 move set because I loved it ( or at least let my man's spin on his back) and make lu bu a real threat again. I can tell you, the last time I was afraid of this man was dw 4. If they can do that I'd be happy.
I also think DWs open world would be better for empires IMO. Like every battle is like an enclosed area and by leaving the barrier, you withdrawal your troops if it's not going well. But when you're not in battle or a wondering soldier, you can ride around the map recruiting soldiers, getting supplies, moving homes, helping villages, hunting, pursuing relationships, etc.
Lastly, a cool feature would be bringing Dw5 betrayals back and capture/rescue missions. For example let's say you're in battle and a great officer is captured in battle, you can send an elite team to go and rescue them under a time limit or vice versa, so you have to sneak into the castle and prison and save them and escape. And with betrayals you can send and officer to another kingdom to act as a mole and deceive the other kingdom and set up ambushes, that'd be dope. They'll never do it but one can dream lol.
    Awesome video btw!

Standard increased Range with your renbu meter, power increased your damage as it went up, and Skill increased attack speed, with each class having a different range of power values. it’s *similar* to the weight classes but without the Heavy weapon speed loss from DW5 or the flat damage loss from light weapons. I find myself with a soft spot for 6 even with its flaws, and have yet to play 9 myself. I’m just now looking into it which brought me to this video! Keep up the good stuff!

    DW4XL. Best AI.
Shit after WO1 was either "you had someone who could abuse percentage elemental damage procs/some other high damage modifiers or they would straight die from lazy-programmed high-stat death sticks on max difficulty".

Nice pronounciation on the Chinese names bro. Well from what I can tell anyway.

I didn’t think there could be a Dynasty Warriors game worse than 6.. DW9 proved me wrong.

I seriously don't understand what the problem is with 6. I've played 3,4,5,6 and 7 and 6 is my favourite. In fact I've recently started playing it again and still enjoy it.

Same here. For most people i think they just dont like the renbu system, but i liked it after getting used to it.

@@charleslauricella156 When they released 6: Empires and the renbu was attached to your weapon, that was perfection. So much fun to play. Sun Shang Xiang with max renbu that never falls off was an absolute delight.
