Thank you for reacting to my favorite Soul group...I have every song they ever made...They are a deep rabbit hole to go down...They have many many great songs...I`ve seen them many times in concert from the 70's until present day.
The one in the red that you were talking about in the back...His name was Nicholas Caldwell...He wrote some of their songs and he choreographed some of their dance moves...He passed in 2016.

Keep On Lovin' Me was the second single from The Whispers' 1983 album: Love For Love. It was written by Wardell Potts Jr, Kevin Spencer and William Zimmerman. It was produced by Leon Sylvers III and Ricky Sylvers. The song reached #4 on the R&B chart and #18 on the Dance chart. The music video was filmed in Century City, Los Angeles, California.

The Whispers formed in 1964 in Watts, California. The discography of The Whispers consists of 23 studio albums, 1 live album, 77 singles and 13 official compilation albums. The Whispers scored 15 Top 10 R&B singles, and 8 Top 10 R&B albums with two of the albums: The Whispers (1979) and Love Is Where You Find It (1982), reaching the No. 1 spot. They are best known for their two number one R&B singles: "And the Beat Goes On" (1979), and "Rock Steady" (1987).They have earned two Platinum and five Gold albums from the RIAA.
The original group members included identical twin brothers Wallace & Walter Scott, along with Gordy Harmon, Marcus Hutson & Nicholas Caldwell. After being invited to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1966 by Sly Stone, the group relocated to that area where they began developing a reputation as a show-stopping live act. Walter Scott was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War during that period for eighteen months, returning to the group in 1969 after discharge. After Gordy Harmon injured his larynx in a driving accident in 1973 he was replaced by former Friends Of Distinction member Leaveil Degree.
After a series of singles on Los Angeles record label: Dore Records, the group signed to a small LA record label: Soul Clock Records, run by music producer Ron Carson, who was responsible for their breakthrough hit song: "Seems Like I Got To Do Wrong", in 1970. Moving to the larger New York City based record label: Janus Records, they continued to be produced by Ron Carson, before he sold all of his recordings to Janus Records with the group then recording mainly in Philadelphia in the mid-1970s.
In 1978, the group signed to Dick Griffey's Los Angeles based SOLAR Records. The group scored many hits on the R&B and Billboard Hot 100 charts throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, and they hit number one on the Hot Dance Club Play and R&B chart in 1979/80 with their song: "And The Beat Goes On". In the UK, the group's single: "And The Beat Goes On" peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles chart and their single: "It's A Love Thing", became their second top 10 in 1981 peaking at No. 9 on the UK Singles chart.
In 1980, The Whispers group member Leaveil Degree, 31 years old at the time, was involved in a $1.8 million dollar jewel heist in which he spent two years in jail. The Whispers didn't replace Leaveil Degree while he was locked up and even gave his part of the group's earning to his wife while he was in jail. The Whispers, through good & bad times, are very much loyal to one another in every sense of the word.
In 1987, they enjoyed a brief tenure in the US top 10 when their song: "Rock Steady", became their first top 10 success on the Hot 100, reaching No. 7, while also capturing the No. 1 spot on the R&B chart.
The Whispers are also known for their charitable work with youth that participate in the PAL (Police Athletic League) Reading Program, and their ongoing support to domestic violence organizations and cancer agencies.
In 2024, The Whispers still perform their music live on stage with a group line-up consisting of: Wallace Scott, Walter Scott & Leaveil Degree.

2007: The Whispers were presented with an American Black Music Award in Las Vegas.
2008: The Whispers were winners of the Rhythm and Blues Foundation's prestigious Pioneer Award.
2012: Soul Music Hall Of Fame Award.
2013: Presented a Lifetime Achievement Award for their 50 years in the Music Industry on the Soul Train Cruise.

2. Nicholas Caldwell (April 5, 1944 - January 5, 2016)
Nicholas Caldwell passed away from congestive heart failure on January 5, 2016. He was laid to rest at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond, California.
3. Gordy Harmon (June 1, 1943 - January 5, 2023)
Gordy Harmon passed away from natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, California, on January 5, 2023. His body was cremated and the ashes given to his family.
