    Has anyone else done a similar mod? What motor did you use and what was your experience? Would love to read your comments below!

      I built a similar one about 4 years ago for my Hobie PA. I now use it on my 2019 Outback. Most people fix the motor so it only goes straight, but mine turns in the cassette. I like it that way so to be able to turn tighter circles and control it with my feet. I also built a variable speed control to be able to have infinite speeds up to about 4 1/2 mph. I just bought another side mount 24 Watersnake and will probably use it more than the cassette motor. I like to use my pedal drive when I get to my fishing spots but don't like switching back and forth. JMO

    In Brazil we are starting now with lithium batteries, I hope this opens doors here for the inclusion of electric propulsion in our kayaks, we are fighting here for people to wake up to this technology, it's amazing to see your customizations, congratulations

    Lol, dude kept up the whole time. That's good stuff right there. Well anyway I got the thing from Wally world for 40 bucks so I can't complain.I don't have a paddle kayak though mine you have to use your arms.

    I will build mine exactly like yours on my Catch 130. The cassette plug for the hoby mirage is the same than the Pélican Catch serie.
    Thank you so much for all those informations!

    Impressive. It seems to perform almost as well as the Minn Kota 40lb Riptide from other videos I have seen. Do you know what is the pitch on the prop?

    Hi Outback Shadz. Thanks for your videos. I really like your Watersnake mod mate. I will be getting that soon. 1 question if you could answer please. Could you tell me the anchor setup in more detail, not the system but the part where you lowered it to the water. Like where did you get the part from and how many meters of rope do you have on it? Etc. It looks cool. Many thanks.

      Hi Goran,
      Its called an anchor wizard, best kit on my kayak for sure, its attached to a downrigger as anchor so it doesn’t get snagged or scratch my kayak upon retrieval

    @ad905 Před 3 lety +1

    2 questions. 1 - did you keep the peddles on you in case you ran out? 2 - Why didnt you go for the 34lb? I reckon you could eek out another kmph, leave your buddy puffing to keep up with that

    • @outbackshadz3809
      @outbackshadz3809  Před 3 lety +1

      Sorry for the late reply, 1 yes i always keep the pedal & paddles in case of any breakdown.
      2. More thrust doesnt equal more speed just more push to get you there quicker and that would put too much strain on the cassette connection IMO.

  • @ryandavis4689
    @ryandavis4689 Před 2 lety

    So you didn't use the regular motor mounts that came with it you just stuck it in the middle of your boat?. It's actually a pretty cool idea. I reckon it's only works with your kayak though. I don't think I could put a hole in my kayak,reckon the hole was already there?

  • @MuddyBootsOutdoors
    @MuddyBootsOutdoors Před rokem

    Hi, i'm thinking of something like this for my kayak but hyow did you get it to mount in the middle like that? Was there a port hole on that model or is the motor able to be disassembled and reassembled through that port? It seems the prop would be too big to go through there. Also regarding battery life, you said you did not recharge night before but would full charge work the whole day of fishing? Thank you

    • @outbackshadz3809
      @outbackshadz3809  Před rokem
