Prince did the Superbowl with no special guests just him, his band, including 2 back up dancers, a stage, and the most rain ever dumped on a Superbowl halftime show ever (Prince ruined all his guitars that he played that show). Prince also sung live. Madonna probably lip-synched most of her performance to a pre-recorded live singing tape.
Keep in mind, she was 53 when she did the performance. Truly amazing.

You're right about Madonna's sound, and her visuals. She was in a league of her own, many tried to copy but never got it right. You can tell right away a song is a Madonna song. She has way too many awesome videos to react to, but I suggest Hung Up, Bedtime Story, Erotica, and Human Nature.
Vogue, Express Yourself, Girl Gone Wild, Frozen, to name a few more videos.

"Vogue," the first song, is from 1990 and I don't know if it's a question of Madonna having a specific style of music; she's changed her looks and sound countless times. She just did almost everything before anyone else, so her stamp is on virtually everything in pop music.
Guys- believe me, there is no one like Madonna. She is a legend and she's still kicking ass...please continue to research and react to her work because you will be blown away by her live performances; older ones and more recent ones- they are all unparalleled. One of kind Star.

The technique is called project mapping, used 30 projectors and the overall projected area covered 11.000sqft - it was more or less the first time a tv audience got to experience it. The first song is one of her biggest hits from 1990 and basically owned the entire year on MTV and everywhere you went. Music came out in 2000 and was another huge hit for her and give me all your luvin was being premiered at this show from the new album. Like a Prayer the last song is another iconic song at every performance of this that she has done has been one of the best!

I am a die hard Madonna fan and absolutely love that you (much younger) guys are liking her stuff. In this review you made a statement that today’s music all sounds the same and I agree with that. Past generations have all had music icons - those that really stood out from everyone else and have been liked for generations afterwards. Today’s music seems to lack that all together and everything is just okay - nothing stands out. On occasion you’ll get something like Dua Lipa but honestly the only thing of hers that stands out is the remix she did for Levitating which has two (older) icons; Madonna and Missy Elliot.
For your Madonna review you should think about looking at the history of the song your reviewing - so many of her songs have a history that can be shocking or eye opening (eg The tour for Like a Prayer was cancelled by Pepsi because of the music video which is why after that Madonna no longer had corporate sponsors for any of her tours, Vogue is inspired by a rich dance movement out of Harlem and although it incorporates fashion it’s inspiration was the dance not fashion). I’d be curious what your generation thinks of some of those past controversies now. Most of madonna’s stuff has some level of controversy tied to it, intentional and not.

One of my first references in pop. I was "finding" myself about gender and sexuality... Madonna, Michael and other always said stuff like "It makes no difference if you're black or white, If you're a boy or a girl", and for me, at that time, it was important as hell. Nowadays is "easy" to talk about that, but some years ago things were different. People like Madonna were opening doors for people like me (and could be people like you, just for everyone to fell free) and be saying things like " I tried to be a boy, I tried to be a girl
I tried to be a mess, I tried to be the best. I guess I did it wrong, that's why I wrote this song, this type of modern life, is it for me?...". Music saved my life, and beyond saving, helped me to give meaning to my life and love/respect who I am and respect people around. That is the most important thing in life. People don't give credit to what artist like Madonna or Michael Jackson represent to some like me, it has given me hope to be and to love what I am and to love the different, the people around me, the way they are. That changed my life for real and forever.

There's a wild and wonderful career to explore with Madonna if you wanna continue down this road. She's more than earned the title of Queen of Pop (the press gave her that title way back in the 80s and it's stuck to this very day). I recommend watching Express Yourself from her Blond Ambition Tour in 1990 (the tour is often credited with inventing the modern day pop concert) as well as Future Lovers from her Confessions Tour in 2006!
