Canada Road Trip: BEST Things To Do In ALBERTA, CANADA!

  • In this video, we share some of the best things to do in Alberta, including Calgary, Drumheller, Edmonton, Banff, and Jasper!
    Welcome to Alberta, Canada!
    From boreal forests to vast prairies and high mountain peaks, Alberta is an incredible province to explore. This is Canada's fourth-most populous province and one of only two Canadian provinces that are land-locked. This is also our home province and it was very fun to be able to experience Alberta as part of the Road to 150 travel series.
    We rode a gondola to the top of a mountain, walked on a glacier, hiked to various waterfalls, canoed a glacier-fed lake, had fun at the second-largest indoor waterpark in the world, hiked into a canyon, learned about dinosaurs, rode on a steam train, and learned about Canada's star music talent. We also went up into the iconic Calgary Tower, rode the world's largest indoor triple loop rollercoaster, and drove the world-famous Icefields Parkway. We packed a lot of adventures into our short visit and can't wait to explore the province deeper.

    Canada's Road to 150 was a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
    We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim was to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

    Born in Alberta. Also lived in Ontario and BC. Now a senior. Did my bucket list trip to the Maritimes last summer - before Covid. So fun to go through your videos, because I have been most of these places. So glad I did. I believe every Canadian should see ALL of Canada. You do a good job - but the Badlands do not show well in video - they have to be seen in real life. BUT respect them. NO picking samples, or climbing on them.

      Sure thing! In The mountains the weather is a little more extreme because you are higher up so when it will get either really hot or really cold. there is not really an in between. In Alberta weather is vary unpredictable and random, you would have a nice sunny day and in two minutes it could be poring rain! But there are a lot of things to do is Saskatchewan it is pretty barren but you can expect a bit of wind . I’ve only been to Toronto once and only for a few minutes so I cannot say the weather.
      Now as for attractions as of right now many things like the world water park and galaxy land is shut down but you might get something anyway I don’t have time to go on so good luck on your visit!

      I lived in Banff and Jasper for most of the last 20 years, I now live in BC's Okanagan Valley, near the Rockies' western edge. The nature in the Rockies is fabulous of course, but there are some negatives to living there that visitors do not see, for one, it is hard to make a decent living unless you own or manage a business, or are in a gratuity (tipping) position. Second, you are constantly bombarded by assertive and confident tourists from all over the world staying there for 1 or 2 or 3 days who often seem to think they own the place, and ask all kinds of questions about the people who REALLY do live there, many of those questions being rather silly and sometimes obnoxious, and if you serve those people in the "Guest Services Industry", you still have to be nice to them and not tell them how often arrogant or even occasionally menacing some of them are. One of the most common questions is: "How do you people manage to live here with all those "Ferocious Bears" around" when in reality, I have been threatened more often by "civilized tourists" across hotel front desks than I have been by "wild bears" on mountain trails.

    Please please please do NOT walk on the hoodoos!!! Or touch them!! Stay on the trails that are marked out for you. So many tourists have destroyed the hoodoos - we are down to only handful because of people just walking wherever they please and scraping at the rock formations. Drives me nuts to see people milling all over the area, ignoring the paths. Let's preserve these amazing rock formations before they get completely destroyed forever!

    We saw some on the same places on our pass through earlier in the year. Lake Louise seemed less mobbed in the fall than in May - it was crawling with tourists in spite of ice still being on the ground.
    We last visited The Royal Tyrrell Museum in 1986 so we were much impressed with the expansion and development of it.
    We have picked up some great ideas from your visit. We will be going back this August when the Bearded Collie National Specialty will be happening along with the big AKC show at Spruce Meadows so we should have some time to cover some of the bits we missed.

      Alberta Canada is the very best Province that is second to none! There is so much more than this video could possibly to show. Possibly the best place on the entire planet. Happy Birthday Canada. Proud to be a Canadian!

      Must Do Canada that’s so true, there is parking there for day trips. How ever hiking in the HooDoo, especially on warm days is a trek and requires a decent amount of energy. Love y’all channel btws 👍🏻👍🏻

    Amazing Video. Great clarity, clear voice, good tone and very understandable accent. I only would like to suggest to write the names of the visited places either in the video description or on the screen so we can type them in google map and search for them easily. Thanks 😊

      @MustDoCanada  Před 4 lety +4

      haha yeah, we love Moraine lake too (we live in Calgary, so have been many times), but since 2017, it's become so crowded, that you have to take a shuttle to get there. Sucks :(

      Colleen Owens next time you’re in the area, definitely make your way to Moraine Lake amd Emerald Lake :) much more turquoise than Bow Lake

      @@katyoutnabout5943 my husband and I both want to go to Morraine Lake. We will be staying overnight in accommodations there 1 night if we do as it is too far to drive to. Bow Glacier Falls is a long way (over 3 hours) with a few stops. My 17 year old son only wants to go there now to hike.

    I think some of that footage was taken in Dinosaur provincial park where you find more dinosaur fossils. Also there are way more hoo-doos (which you can touch there). I also recommend Writing on stone provincial park, the Wilmore wilderness and Waterton lakes NP. Alberta is grand!

    • @MustDoCanada
      @MustDoCanada  Před 5 lety

      No, we didn't make it there. In fact, we've never been! But we should go this year. I've heard good things. We tried to go camping at Writing-on-stone but it's booked 6 months in advance now :(

    A good scenic road trip is from Dry Island Buffalo Jump provincial Park to Horseshoe Canyon. From there East to Dinosaur Provincial Park. From there to Red Rock Coulee. From there to Writing on Stone Provincial Park. Southern Alberta has unique geography.
