'A lot of my game was physical, getting by players, scoring goals.'
Jenas remembers his game differently to me then.
yep scoring goals wasn't one
He played 341 games and only scored 39 goals
He even looked awkward saying it.
Did he really say that? What a stump
He seemed genuinely until his stats appeared on screen 🤣🤣
Next debate. Is it "disrespectful" not to sign for your dream childhood club.
Anonymous Xp surely it’s not the same. There’s no loyalty in club football, but your nation is your very blood, your beating heart, your heritage, your ancestry, your future.
@@emperorreign6154 Mate we're living in 2018 that kind of patrioticness doesnt exist anymore.Id fight for my country but not playing for my national team is disrespectful?Grow up
@@emperorreign6154 people can feel the same connection to a club as to a country
Emperor Reign some people love there club more than there country don’t try and speak for everyone.
How could it be disrespectful
Next debate: Is it disrespectful to curl one in top corner?
HRTY ofc
knew it. some players are too arrogant
😂😂😂 gotta keep it straight
like god damn this pundit is an idiot
Not as disrespectful as Gary Lineker curling one out on the pitch and not picking it up after himself
Next debate: should players learn how to nutmeg referees?
This is why England will not win a wold cup in a long time
GistTech yes
@@russelhasan6428 whats a wold cup?
Gotta win me one of those wold cups
It's funny seeing Jermaine Jenas as a pundit. Its even funnier seeing him talk about international football
He makes Clinton Morrison sound intelligent 🤣
It’s even funnier seeing him on the one show
“My game was physical, getting by players, scoring goals” 21 caps, 1 goal
Hahaha
He was talking about his time at Spurs.
Jamin Belisle as a Spurs fan, I remember the goal to game ratio to be about the same
201 appearance for spurs, 26 goals. 152 appearance for Newcastle, 12 goals.
Very silly title/question
Rio said players wanna spend more time with their family, omfg they only train 3 hours a day they've got loads more time for themselves compared to a normal working person
Exactly !!
except if they're families live halfway across the world then it becomes more of an issue
@@bigbeatyswollocks4859 some of the top players do travel a lot with European and cup competitions as well as the international's
@@stephenfisher9451 also I've played football in 4 different countries getting paid a fraction of what they get paid so I've travelled like them
Its up to them so who are we to disagree?
Zauchi that’s a stupid comment. Everything someone does is upto them don’t mean we can’t disagree. If I pissed on your dog I’m sure you’d disagree with where I chose to piss.
Gambit Slots bit of a difference between that and retiring from international footy..
@@ajk1312 Exactly lol what a daft example.
Didnt read an5 comment just seen yours and relised and liked
pundits or ex footballers are just extra when it comes to modern day footballers. Modern day footballers are always criticised for everything they do and cant catch a break
No it's not. If they do not believe they are helping their international team or if they cannot cope with club and international games then there is no reason to keep trying out of desperation - however hard it must be to retire
I'd rather a player retire on his/her own terms than to not be selected because thyley can't keep up
She's a gold digger and he's idiot. Perfect couple.
Great comment. I felt sorry for becks how he got the captaincy taken off him when steve McClaren took charge. Becks imitomisies everything about England shame the golden generation didnt do more. What a group of talent we had. Becks gerrard Scholes lamps rio terry cole Rooney owen
Is it disrespectful to change boots after one game? Fix up bt bmt
"A lot of my game was getting by players; scoring goals"
Jermaine Jenas
Who scored 32 goals in 280 Premiership games; around 1 goal in every ten games....
And he never scored in a warm up game for England before the 2006 World Cup!!
Trying to re-write his own history!
😂😂😂😂😂
James Peters can’t wait til decent players like Rooney and that retire to take his place. Young teens won’t even know who he is and if they google him they still wouldn’t know. Jermaine and the Irish guy don’t deserve to sit next to Rio.
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Also hes one of the most honest pundits we have.
gambit slots the irish guy richard dunne was 1 of the best defenders in the prem just injured to much
More disrespectful no bloody player passed to vardy ffs or even gave him a decent ball.
I have to agree Southgate never gave vardy a full match in the world cup
Vardy is a striker and he need to be giving a chance
Ever match kane has to play
Who remember 2015/16 when vardy dominated the premier league
Vardy deserved to play in some of the matches at the world cup this year. We needed something different to Harry Kane who really wasnt playing well, and Vardy terrorising the defence couldve been just what was required.
@@mja9393 agreed, its hard to bench kane though
Ya 1 season. Just an above average striker.
ney6mar junior Kane still won the golden boot in that season aswell though
@@yuehagime8302 He actually scored more goals than Kane this season
Surely its the players choice when they want to retire from international football and it isnt deemed disrespectful at all!
Mujeeb Ahmed Your a Idiot!!!!
@@leighparkboy9514 how
It's good in a way because the senior players of the squad understand that there is major young talent rising up and they might feel like they are slowing down and can't keep a place in the squad so choose to stop for the country. So in that aspect they feel like they are doing what's best for the country but i can understand in a way that people think it's not right
Alex Morris also will vardy make it into the World cup in 2022?? Probably not
Alex Morris like Milner did with England
What major young talent has the England team got coming thru tho Lmfaoooo 😂
Mount, Sancho, Foden, Sessegnon, Abraham, Hudson-Odoi, Gomez, RLC, etc. That major young talent mate.
If I were Vardy I'd be keen to travel anytime to get away from that wife
Hahaha. Excellent point
😲😭
What's wrong with his wife?
Michael rushoki whats right with her.
@@callumwatson3368 so because she is a woman something must be wrong with her.
My landscape gardener Trevor was one of the cameramen for this segment and he told me that when the cameras stopped rolling, Rio and Jermaine Jenas started french-kissing and everybody found it very awkward and uncomfortable. Richard dunne was reduced to tears and almost knocked Rio out with a big swing of his fist.
squirty mcgoo funniest comment I’ve seen so far
Yeh but @@alexruiz7399 , it's all true. I didn't say it for laughs 😓😭
Rio is wicked, absolute quality, love the way he thinks and handles himself.
He knows Kane is number 1 and next major tournament he's 33 so no stupid questions. He's talented but doing England a world of good allowing youngsters to bed in.
I'm sure he'd take the call if it came to desperation but the lad relies on pace and club football only increases longevity and family time for him. Come up with some better focus points for debate BT Sport for god sake we're not idiots. Bang on Rio, that's why he's such a great voice for the game 👌
No more disrespectful than how england treated him simple.
Not at all, Its up to the player most players retire later in their career why should they sit on the bench when there is a young player with more to give?
The end comment was funny: "or Pete may be Jamie Vardy" lol
Why did Rio basically repeat what dunne said straight after he said it haha
He probably wasnt even listening to dunne lol
because he's thick
Next debate: Why is that arrogant self-important billy big bollocks wannabe Jake Humphries still presenting football coverage?
Sef Huss because he is good at it
dj chimpy nah
I respect Rio though about the family thing. Especially coming from him.
Jake is only one trying to turn it into a 'debate' 😂
Agree with everything Rio said. Sometimes family time is of greater importance
Disrespectful 😲 Anything but for example Gary Cahill and Vardy they didn’t get that much game time in Russia but Cahill did make a great off the line clearance and In that game Jamie assisted Rashford that’s it really and if they want to give younger players a chance , well, fair play anyone agree
I reckon Cahill wasn’t going to get called up plus got a younger generation of defenders up coming
Nathan Vaughan I agree there’s lots of young defenders wanting a call up like Twakorsi etc
Vardy would’ve squared it to Sterling if he started against Croatia
Next question: should goalkeepers be allowed to score
Its disrespectful not to play the player.
Is it disrespectful When Gareth Southgate plays players ahead of Vardy when Vardy has scored more goals???
It's entirely up to the individual. If I was a footballer I'd see playing for Scotland as the pinnacle, I'd be honoured to represent my country.
We have plenty of players coming through and Cahill and Vardy have served us well, good luck to them.
Rio Ferdinand - Premier League Titles, Champions league, Domestic cups
Jermaine Jeans - Scored in a pre warm up game
He was also prisoned
JJ is a former PL footballer who is articulate. Do not take that for granted.
Left on the bench until it got to much imagine the frustration he had to deal with(pure torture)
No love is better than a bad love it's a hard choice but it's what's best for him.
Its nice to hear an irish player actually have an irish accent!!
Rare
Smart move by Vardy. I think sometimes International Duty can be a burden. If the player wants to focus more on his club career or spend the time with family, he should be allowed to do that. This shouldn't be a debate. It is the players decision.
In short we didn't treat Vardy right?
The 1 issue I had with Southgate at the world cup was his lack and unwillingness to use the squad he had better. Many times in the cup especially towards the later stages were we played more extra time etc he needed to use his subs better and he neglected to do so for whatever reason in have No idea. There were games were Vardys pace would have been more beneficial than what Kane could offer for that particular game but he always stick with Kane. This is not me saying Kane is trash but rather Gareth should have recognised he had TWO class strikers with dymamite finishing and not just one.
They didn't mention Robson-Kanu and Wales, it would've been interesting to find out what they think about smaller nations and retiring players there.
Can't believe this is a question. Players have every right to retire from international football. People talk about loyalty...when most of the time your club and country don't return the same loyalty to the players.
Next video: Is it disrespectful to not play for your dream club?
They both said it helps younger players get into the team
I wouldn’t want to be on the bench behind sterling after his performance in the World Cup 🤷🏻♂️
He'll be 33 by euro 2020, and he's not even getting a game now, right decision from him and he has said that he'll come back if everyone is injured.
I love the eyes on the Irish guy!
The decision is up to the player
Its disrespectful that southgate only plays him 30 mins in like 6 games when kanes the most predictable footballer on the planet, i feel we would've done alot better with him starting
Southgate needs to convince Vardy to stay with England, he's still got a hell of a lot to offer.
+Rangda Rangda he's 31 now, he may simply feel his body may not be up to it, and please don't cite Ronaldo or some other 30+ athlete, people are built differently

Depends on age/stage of career.. JJ is right on point... Vardy is 31... will be 33 by Euros 2020 and 35 by 2022 world cup... He still have something to offer but realistically he won't be going to the next world cup, Kane is the undisputed #1 striker and plays a similar style of football as well... Like Gary Cahill... it's more getting out of the way for the next generation, rather than being "selfish" and retiring.
If Harry Kane retires from international duty at 25 at the peak of his career... that would be disrespectful
pete is definitely jamie vardy on a throwaway account
Players need to spend time with their families as well they've done their service give them a chance to have a personal life as well
Respect to Rio during this
More respectful to be neglected by your country than to leave on your terms. Nice logic
Scholes retired at 30 and that hurt them but they seen having three great midfielder as a bad problem not a good problem .if Southgate had the squad around the time of Rio lamp Gerrard Scholes Beckham Rooney he could have done really good I think.putting Scholes out of position it just didn't work.they could have played someone else at left back and pushed Cole forward or played maybe glen Johnson there and rotate between lamp Gerrard Scholes in middle
Jamie Vardy knows Southgate will be in place for the next 2-4 years as England Manager. He also knows Southgate doesn’t rate him as highly as the other strikers available as didn’t give him the gametime he should have had at the World Cup. He was sat on the bench frustrated and wanted to get on and couldn’t. All the time he could have been at home having a holiday with his family or resting. It’s a no brainer and Vardy made the correct decision. He’s also said he’ll play it really needed. It’s just stupid to say he is unpatriotic or whatever bullshit from a few idiots
Due to Lack Of Decision Making,We Now Have A Keeper that fought Relegation Battle & a CB So Flatfooted He Makes Pegu Look Like Nijiski⁉️👀
Why is this even a debate?!?
If they choose to retire that’s their choice not ours or anyone’s to talk about.
Think about it they’ve fought hard to play for their country to begin with and they retire with a highest honour in their career. And that is enough of a respect we should give them. They’ve earned it
Rio's the Man
It's the ones that spend days away and are never used. Vardy sees it as days he could be home.
Far to many games for players at club level
David Andromeda Football began as a club game, not an international game. Club has and always will come first. This is a debate in itself, some fans would rather see their team win a League Cup than see their nation win a World Cup. Hell, I’d rather win a charity shield.
Archerpool no. Most people would wanna win the World Cup so..
As that guy said, they don’t play to Vardy’s strengths
In the case of Paul Scholes being picked behind Steven Gerrard and Frank lampard, I completely understand.
Next question : is it violent conduct to hit the post ?
pete is a legend
If your never going to play in a competitive game i see no problem with it.
Southgate never gave Vardy a chance, even after Harry Kane's constant poor performances in the world cup, everyone knows Vardy is far superior to Kane so its no wonder he retired
Why is this a question?
Of course it's not disrespectful, if anything it's being greatly respectful to the club they play for.
Vardy has been disrespected by England constantly behind Kane when he’s clearly the better striker has been since leicster broke through
Kane just won the golden boot for the third time.
Richard Dunne! Own Goal specialist
Next time on the Jeremy Kyle Show... Im 96 years old and my legs cant cope
Anyone ever thought the senior players names.get tainted the more they show as a sub in this England squad
I don't blame older players for retiring....
It's his call to make. Come the Euros he will be 33 so what is the issue? Had he been a regular at the WC he might have reconsidered but hardly got a look in. Can still do a good job for Leicester.
I think every player should be proud to represent their country but they also should know when perhaps they should know when the time is right to retire when they know they can't give their best for their country
I think it's disrespectful when a player deliberately misses a drug test

His job is to play devil's advocate and rile them up, in order to get good responses out of them. Like every other presenter. He's not giving his personal opinion, he's throwing out statements that are being spouted by other people and seeing how the other pundits respond.
No. Instead it is disrespectful for other people to think they are entitled to decide that for them or attempt to bully them into another decision. Teams do better when everyone who is there actually wants to be there. If they don't then move on.
What the interviewer doesn't understand is the physical strain.
I dont think vardy and cahill actually wanted to retire. I think southgate has called them and pretty much told them they are not part of his future plans. Otherwise why if they have retired say they would be happy to turn up for duty if their were injuries.
*Cough cough* Scholes *cough cough* 😂😂😂
England treated Vardy poorly when they rarely played him when he would have been just what England needed. Vardy doesnt owe England's "elite" who pick the starting 11 anything. They wasted him on the bench when Englands game was so preditable and slow.
Jenas was born in Nottingham and is of mixed Afro-Caribbean and English descent.
Up to them. It's no one buisness. Not even a debate
ferdinand with that knowledge
Ferdinand is spot on
Everyone makes their own choices for their own reasons. Some respectful, some not. Still, the respectful thing for everyone else to do is to respect an individual person's personal choice.
Pundit makes a point. Rio just repeats it in his own words.
Perspective.... Vardy isn't getting any younger, though has managed to make the England team. His game is largely built around his pace, but his career isn't going to last very long at his age if his hamstring was to break due to over playing. To keep his career going for as long as possible then retiring "early" from England isn't a bad move. Remember, this guy didn't earn £80k per week from the age of 17 years.... he has had to do it the hard way and I wouldn't blame him if his aim is to increase his playing time by a year or two by getting some rest whilst others are pushing themselves potentially too far.
whats disrespectful is getting old and stubborn and wasting a spot in the squad when a young player could get that opportunity
How stupid of a question? It's the players choice if they want to retire.
Not disrespectful in my opinion - these days players go through extreme training schedules, to play for country and club must be very demanding... back in the day training probably wasn't as tough, so they could have the time, effort, and stamina to do both..
No everyone has there reasons to why Jamie wasn't happy being on the bench most of the time we he could of been with his family which is understandable
Arsene Wenger never retired from management and was humiliated when nobody employed him. I feel PSG or Barcelona could have given him a shot, even Bayern Munich. He speaks all the languages.
Think it's up to them both done good for England and with vardy not play maybe just maybe d welbek mite get a game
No
Why can't they be honest and tell us what they are on?
Clubs pay the Bills not internationals.
Richard Dunne and Rio Ferdinand have more international goals then Jermaine Jenas
Who the hell even asked a question as silly as this?,
