      Respect the compliment, but honestly I'm not a big fan of today's "skills trainer" culture. In my opinion we should be playing more pickup, more 1v1, playing more of other sports. Meanwhile doing way less (if any) "skills workouts".

    • @CoachFrikki
      @CoachFrikki  Před rokem +40

      @@farhansarkar2394 The culture of most players having their own skills trainer who puts them through 1v0 workouts with no decision making. Not gonna name any names but most “skills workouts” from these skill gurus are the trainer telling the player exactly what to do and when to do it, which is the completely opposite of basketball which is reactive and chaotic. Time could be spent better for example by playing pickup.

    This channel is like a truth room. Clips from all walks of the game. Salaries, social media following, franchise, league, shape, size, none of it matters. The topic is driving to the cup. Nothing to do with personalities. So seeing clip examples with the likes of Russel Westbrook in a Lakers uniform, who was the most trolled and disrespected athlete I've personally witnessed in my life, are just normal and you see it for what it is because he is executing a perfect example of the topic of the video. I really appreciate that. Trolling pros and focusing on personalities is egocentric and not good for my game. Focusing on principles executed well, is. If social media is toxic, Frikki channel is medicinal. Zero BS. Kobe smiles upon us.
    Also I love that you even included an example from a narrative film XD

    great analysis, this should be taught more in highschool or early basketball club. I've seen players only focused on getting to the rim, but this video explains how dribbling to the side to cut the defender then use the momentum against them really works well.
    and remember what makes NBA players can do it seamlessly is because they can do stop and shoot, and they all have their own 'weapon' to use.

    Banger video as always but I also reckon it’s important to note that even though AFTER you get an advantage on ur man u should drive super tight to cut them off, usually the first (and sometimes second dribble) after your move do have to be a bit wider in order to get outside their frame and gain an advantage (unless you cross them up like crazy)

    • @CoachFrikki
      @CoachFrikki  Před rokem +6

      Great point. This video is solely focusing on what to do after you gain that initial advantage.
      The other part is tricky, you can't go too tight against strong defenders, while attacking too wide will get you into tough angles. Gotta find that sweetspot in between!

    • @davidhall4401
      @davidhall4401 Před rokem

      @@CoachFrikki I was practicing finishing using this same concept in this video. The one that comes natural to me is bumping them out of the play. I believe in tight angles, but i also believe in closing the gap at the rim and physically bumping them while they're still running in front if you can't initiate contact earlier. There are times where you just have to keep closing that gap. I don't think the ref will call a foul on the push off if he's running in front to cut you off and has not stopped moving because you will still be seen as controlling your space

    Hello Coach Frikki, always convinced by your content. Would it be possible to make a video where you give an archetype of what pro players have in their package? For example 1 go-to move, 2 favourite Finishers, 2 counter moves, 2 dribble moves (1 in fastbreaks etc...), shooting: 1-2 and/or Hop mastered.
    I can't assess the difficulty or the relevance of what I'm asking but by looking at your video I think there is a possibility of making some global synthesis. Thank you for reading and thank you for your video.

    I'm 31 long past playing at any level back in the day I was always a good shooter, and probably have received more blocks than the law should allow. I would drive right past players back in the day, easy burning them, and get blocked and now I realize I never gave those bumps b/c I thought I'd be closer to the shot blocker not knowing that's not how it works, I am literally mind blown that no one taught me this, blessing this new generation
