How to Use Digital Mixing Console || Your First Digital Console

- Go from excited-and-scared to excited-and-confident as I walk you through your new digital console. (This video is not brand-specific - no matter what console you bought, all these things apply)
Your old analog console was a workhorse, but the added functions you get from a digital console make mixing at church so much easier. For one, the ability to recall everything on the board at once makes it so much simpler for people who know NOTHING about sound to make it function. Like the band. Or the janitor. Seriously.
Update: We’ve discontinued our t-shirt store! Thanks for being a Sound Ninja!

Sound tech solo.
This is a. extremely helpful channel.
Scenes can save your life !! 😎
Until someone deletes it.... always back it up externally... twice 😭😭😭
Excellent video. Thank you.
Thank you Stephen!
You picked a great one Studiolive 32s 3 series is awesome mixer
Thanks! Works great for teaching, and lots of flexibility.
Thank you!
I'm analogue all the way. I own 3 desks yamaha, soundcraft and peavey.
I just can't be bothered with the hassle of having to pull up a channel to assign reverb/delay or just to adjust an eq when all I have to do on an analogue is twist a knob or push a fader.
Too many mistakes can be made in a digit mixer, just as you mentioned in this video.
One more thing is, I've noticed is in the second hand market digital desks are as cheap to buy now as an analogue.
#Soundtechsolo We use an old Yamaha DM-2000. I know it's a little old but I have grown fond of it.
Those are workhorses. Although I'm glad they improved the ballistics on the encoder speed since then. Moving 0.1dB at a time got pretty tiresome
Technology is the way to go digital can only get better as time goes on. What they could do is make a digital board that you can assign and do as you please best of both worlds.
Hi I am the pastor pretty small church and i'm self taught on the A&H Zed 24 analogue mixer with USB - we recently bougth a behringer wing and not sure go about learing and incorporating this into our worship am I moving too fast what do you suggest
We use Yamaha TF5 Digital console
New to digital mixer how is the best way to set gain? Start at unity or fader at infinity?

#soundtechsolo Sadly I had a sound tech solo Sunday before last. I am trying to get more familiar with running our Presonus 64s via an Ipad with universal control. As I was scrolling across the faders, my swipe was not horizontal enough, and instead of scrolling I raised a fader 30DB. Can you say kick drum solo?
Ouch. I can feel my stomach turn just thinking about it
SoundTechSolo, Hey James, I'm looking to finally upgrade to a digital console. It's a small church so we want to get the most value for our dollar. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Really depends on a lot of factors - monitoring, if you want to ditch the analog snake and have a digital snake, how many inputs you need, etc. But I really like the A&H SQ series, and the PreSonus StudioLive Series iii mixers. Another big manufacturer is moving away from independent distributors, so their customer service is likely to go from bad to worse soon... which makes me hesitant to recommend them.
@@AttawayAudio we were thinking the midas m32r with the Dl32. Is that the best for around that price ? Or should I go with a different console and stage box combination?
I know your Presonus board is super nice, I almost bought one myself. I opted instead to go with the X32 from Behringer. I know you have most likely used both, so in your honest opinion which has more bang for buck? I know they essentially do the same thing, and Presonus has their integration with their DAW. Would you sway a consumer one way or the other? Thanks
I did same choice...however i do prefer Presonus if no need of Dante...
I spent a little more on the Presonus than I would have for a X32 for the onboard multitrack recording/virtual sound check on a SD card, and the A/B function on the EQ/Comp for teaching purposes. The other stuff was icing on the cake.
Ovi I - they did just come out with the AVB-Dante Bridge, so that's less of an issue now
@@AttawayAudio Great news,!
Do you tuts on A&H QU SB?
Nope, sorry!
Wow, it's almost 2021and NOW you are making a video about changing from analog to digital consoles?
Well my flux capacitor broke and I couldn't go back in time and create it before. Sorry mate 🤣
@@AttawayAudio dude! Gotta get that fixed! Or use dante.... :)

Great channel and information!
Thanks CDRCHRRS!
#soundtechsolo Going from a mackie analog to a Tascam DM-3200 . hard to decide
Nice! Mackie analog has been a workhorse for many many years. Just be careful with them.
I don't now if i should chose a Vi2000 soundcraft or a d-live s5000 or c3500.. hmmm its for the church
Me either! But if it was me, I'd lean more toward D-Live if those are your options
