Talk about being in the right place at the right time! On a recent trip to our store in Kalispell, Montana I watched this new updated RV roll in and dropped what I was doing immediately to start capturing it!
The RV in this video is still a 2023 model BUT it has the first first wave of the coming 2024 updates including expanded kitchen storage, convection/air fryer oven, a full exterior facelift & interior touch up, plus a tankless on-demand water heater!

My wife has been wanting to get rid of our oven. It’s just storage for pans. Love seeing it go away.

Nice find. Please more Grand Design Travel Trailers. I can't wait to find out what their lineup will be for 2024 in the Half Ton Towable Market. Especially bunks or campers that would work for sleeping for kids that will grow to be tall.
I’m in agreement with eliminating outdoor Speakers. Not often utilized by many and just another place for water to intrude into the coach.

I use mine all the time. I wish they would have upgraded them though.
I prefer a large oven in the range to cook inside when it rains. Looks like the lugs on the ladder are to far apart which can be unsafe. The front looks nice in black, but if the sun is beating on it could be hot. Nice video Josh.
No bedroom door, get rid of speakers, cut out bottom of bedside storage so it's accessible from bed and with plugs... household and usb. Keep the oven, bigger fridge, pantry needed and rethink the bathroom storage.

Something to seriously consider Uncle J! Now on a personal note here, I'm SO proud of you Josh and how wonderful your videos have evolved! They are BY FAR THE BEST on CZcams and I turn to no where or no one else when needing some information or just a good laugh and a smile. If it's not coming directly from you it's simply uncivilized otherwise! YEAH I SAID IT!!! MUCH LOVE ALWAYS!
So, as you know I have a 2022 245RL which is what this is and love it. I think the lighter colors in the updated version are nice as it tends to be a little dark inside but too bright if you turn on all the ceiling lights. Wish they could be turned off individually. I know they are tiny but vote for keeping the oven. Love the convection microwave update as have thought about seeing if I could make that update. Agree, would like a pocket at the back of the shelving area by the head of the bed. Don't like the black mirror outside doors. The 3 seater recliner in the slide has always been an option & for some reason GD refers to it as a theatre dinette. We love it and you're right it makes total sense to have it there. While having the table available is an option, we haven't used it in 2 years. We bought tray tables and they work well. Took awhile to get a review of this model but now I have a review and an update! Thanks Uncle Josh!

This would be my couple's camper if I were in the market. Love that me and the Mrs. could both lay down to snooze or watch some TV. I don't think I have seen any other new, lighter trailers that offer this.
The 2500RL doesn't offer the double couch/seat configuration. Dinette is either "U" or table / chairs.

I've used a convection oven. They are amazing! Day old pastries or bread, sprinkle with water zap in the convection. Its magic! They taste fresh! ❤❤❤❤

Oh yeah, Why not put in a table with 4 chairs and remove that sofa sleeper on the rear wall? That would be so AWESOME! That would be a GREAT couples trailer for us! ❤❤ Having your meals at the nice big rear window and having the window opened at the ocean would certainly smell WONDERFUL! ❤

Power pockets on each side of bed. Hanging bar in bedroom wardrobe. Awning across both exterior doors. Solid steps please. Not a fan of glass doors, what if they break?? Love all the counter space. One of these days you’re going to have to cook some biscuits in the convection micro to show how it works 😉

I mentioned in your original video of this floor plan and stated I loved it, I also stated I would like a double theater seat. I love the updates. Thankless water heater, the paint package, Evan the removal of the oven and adding the drawer. The lighter color is cooll. I am going to Idaho Falls on the first to possibly buy one and have it built. Few minor changes, max air fan in bathroom, both door shades and rear stable steps.
Still haven’t purchased an RV yet so I can’t wait to see what the 221rb looks like in the 2024 model

Always loved this layout with the double dinofa! We would prefer a full countertop instead of the cutaway. Love that they addressed the garbage can space! Overall, this is an awesome layout though.

That's my RV. I have the 2022 model. I do like that they put the drawers down beside the bed. That little cubby hole that I have in mind is impossible to use. No one's arm is that long. I also would have been fine with making that an open shelf. I do like the lighter color palette, but having the option of gray tones that actually match the outside of the RV would have been my preference. I'm undecided on if I like the oven going away just because I have never used a convection microwave. The rest of it looks exactly like my RV.
I do wish that they would force air heat that storage compartment. When it gets cold outside that storage compartment is directly under the bed and you can definitely feel it when you're trying to sleep. I also think instead of putting a window in the bedroom door, they should just have two little windows on each side of the bed for a nice cross breeze.
I’ve lived in mine on the road working through all seasons.
1” foam board and a heated hose is all ya need.
Changed 40lb tanks every 3 weeks.
Towed mine from Ohio to Kansas, then to Texas and then Ky with a 2021 Tundra and never felt out of control.

Love the lighter color scheme, no stove and the tankless water heater! I have also heard that all 2024s will have Goodyear tires. Not thrilled with the door window in the bedroom. Ours comes off the line September 6th so I hope it has all these features. Also I hope they add the “D” on the slide out Transcend seems as though the missed it. 15:15

IMO:
1.Kitchen counter straight, not sliced off.
2. TOE kicks
3. Flip up counter extension next to sink
4. NO OUTSIDE SPEAKERS
5. Dinette or table at rear. No need 2 sofas.(swapsome)
6. Gun safe option.

No oven would be a dealer breaker. We enjoy boon-docking, so need an oven.
I love the new touch of grey added to the wood tone. I'm also excited about the combined air fryer / microwave. That saves me from storing an awkwardly shaped standalone chicken nugget machine.

I like the carpet in the slide ! On cold days I can have bare feet while sitting at my dinette and not have cold toes.
I love the airfryer oven. I carry one in our camper all the time. Never used the ovens in any of our campers.
We just got a ninja air fryer at home. Love that thing
I am out west so oven all the way, I would get rid of the microwave, I hate firing up a generator to run it.

Just don't get why so many do that curved counter. Losing out on food prep space and storage underneath! I see the vent in that cabinet but that is not a good exchange. No oven more storage!

Outdoor speakers are a nuisance in general. We always use a Bluetooth speaker when we are camping, the sound quality is way better, plus who needs more potential water leak points in the trailer wall?

The glass doors look smexy but how easy do they break. An once it breaks do I have a door left or am I head to get it fix right away from

Love that they now give you the “option” for theater seating instead of a neck wrecker dinette facing the entertainment center. I definitely prefer a residential feel over the diner motif😂now, if they would just get rid of that cheap Dollar Store 4” fart fan😢

I want a oven in my trailer.
We have a 2022 same model….the faucet in the bathroom is different and they are all silver in ours…love the gooseneck in the bathroom! I wonder if the Lippert window for the door with a shade would fit in but I love that better than only one window….and the drawers under the mirrors in the bedroom! Love it! We just have the cubby holes…I wonder if we can add the drawers 🤔…we also have the recliner couch in ours! Much better than a dinette!

Can you run a convection microwave when you aren't on shore power? I camp in the West and shore power frequently is NOT an option. This would mean getting a generator to run the thing. Grumble.
If I do a "battery" generator, I would need a better solar package to charge it.

Would like a shade in doors open bottom to top. are any available shorter. I don't think you need 2 sofas..I realize like theater seats, I think it would more two rocking chairs??😮 1 more thing. I like split sink

Nothing bakes like a REAL oven! I would put a U dinette in the rear and put the Hide -a-bed sofa in the slide facing the TV. Also, only having a 6'6" ceiling is a deal breaker for me - Need a 6'9" ceiling!

I don't think Winnebago is a trend setter in the dumping of the range for cooktop and convection microwave and think they might have come down and told GD to cut costs. Anyway I still rather have a range with oven over a convection microwave. You can bake in either one but the fan changes the dynamics for baking and roasting considerably. If someone wants a full range I suspect you could lose the drawer and build one in. I like that GD has kept the range hood.
I like the triple recliner couch. One thing I miss about our Micro Minnie was being able to stretch out on the couch for an afternoon nap.
Two things outside. It would be nice if they could move the furnace closer to the water heater. I don't know if its possible but I'd like to see a longer awning that covers the front door.
We don't care for the tankless water heaters. Without a shower miser they waste more water getting hot water to the fixtures. It's not as big a deal if you have full hookups but boondocking or in sites without sewer hookups you needlessly fill up precious grey tank capacity. We have also found them to have a more unstable water temperature than the tank style since the burner turns off as soon as you turn off the faucet. When the water turns back on you then have a period of not as hot water.
Winnebago actually doesn’t tell GD what do in terms of RV design. GD does GD things

I would like a two seater recliner and a pantry next to the fridge. I still dislike the corner medicine cabinet. Put a larger one where the towel bar is and the towel bar on the flat wall to the right of the existing medicine cabinet

Wave 1? Since the factory listens to you, please have them do the following updates for the second wave….
1) Install a sliding privacy shade in both doors.
2) Install a backsplash all around the counters in both the bathroom and kitchen.
3) Extend the awning from rear to front to encompass both doors.
4) Larger LP tanks, say 40 #?
5) Love the full ladder, add maximum solar on the roof.
Other than those items, I’m kinda dig’n this. Perhaps laminate sides too.
I can’t make them do anything but I’ll pass it along!
We have never used an oven in a camper. Barely use the stove top.

No outdoor speakers, great job on the oven delete. This allows a drawer style dishwasher to be installed or keep the additional storage. Also, great job on going with more countertop space versus the pantry tainments which waste too much space in this size trailer.

It does not. Manufactures generally, do not offer slides as options or deletes
All of the quality standard features that every stick and tin trailer should have, but unfortunately the vast majority do not👍

This one is so close to perfect..
If I'm being very picky, then my only complaint is the TV location. You can't see the tv from the recliners and the couch at the same time, so having a couple people over for a movie would be tough. That's a pretty small complaint though, and honestly i can't see any way around it.
If push came to shove would it be possible to get an extension cord and move the tv to a table in the middle of the kitchen floor long enough to have that movie night?

There should be a window next to the entertainment watching sofa on that bare wall.
There should be a window where the towel bar is in the bathroom. Windows are better than towel bars.

Not a fan of no oven! 😕 That convection oven doesn’t look big enough to bake anything in…. No hanging space in the bedroom, a little would be nice instead of just hooks.
U-dinette should be back by the door and sofa left in the slide like some other models have.

Very nice RV Josh, in total agreement with the outdoor speakers, don't need them. Portable Bluetooth would work just fine. Would like to see one more window in the slide and a fireplace option down below the tv instead of the bottom drawer storage. Really like all the seating for a rainy day. Is the air fryer/ microwave exhaust vented indoors or out? All in all very nice RV😊

People wonder about that but nobody seems to wonder about giant windows on the sides of RVs holding up. It’s not impossible for that door to catch a rock but it’s not likely

Any chance you could highlight the construction aspects of the Grand Design trailers? My prior research has revealed thicker aluminum in the Transcend's skin, better sealants at the corner moldings, and wooden dowel inserts in the aluminum framing to give screws a better "bite" among others. I've been a fan of GD from their inception, and with the '24 updates they're only getting better. I'd take mine in 265BH, thank you very much.
I touch on different things in different videos. Each series is a little different in how they’re put together .
Transcend does use thicker .033” skin vs. the more common .024” variety but it’s by necessity. Their skin is less crimped which is more prone to bending/buckling. So the thicker skin offsets.
Pretty much any MFG who uses aluminum tube framing will stuff it with wood where it’s screwed into. That was done by most brands before GD even existed. you can see several examples of it via my factory tour playlist.

Loving the new entry doors but wishing they kept the gray stripe in the middle of the walls. We use our oven often and would like to have the option of an oven. They changed the trim on the slide inside and I think it looks good, overall I like it! But who stole the "D" from the word TRANSCEND on the slide?

Welcome to Montana Josh! I was just at the Kalispell store a few weeks ago in search of rear living/dining trailer. Why don’t manufacturers make more floorplans with them? Do you have any suggestions on something under 26 total feet? I like the Apex 213 RDS but I need a convection microwave or oven and a/c! . Winnebago 2225RL is way narrow at kitchen area. Vista Cruiser 23RSS is good but only available in vintage series?? Ugh.

hard to make layouts like that in a small size. you don’t see many because they require more length than most MFG setups can manage.
The older crowd would prefer an oven. The stove is way too close to the sink.
That stove being close to the sink is really handy at times. I can extend the sink faucet and fill up a pot directly on the stove to make pasta. 😊
Even though we don't use the oven very often, as off grid campers, I'd rather have the propane one.
No pantry is an auto disqualifier for me. Other than that not a bad floorplan. I like having an oven, I don't think that micro is big enough for a roasting pan for a roast or whole chicken. Nerd Herd flag? Yes please.

RV sound systems are awful. Eliminate all of the speakers and add a sound bar (only) for the TV. I like this trailer a lot but they have plenty of room to add a larger awning.

And the RV sound systems that DONT sound like garbage are usually the equivalent of a good portable bluetooth speaker you can get for less cost
@@JoshtheRVNerd exactly! I have a JBL Bluetooth speaker that sounds amazing and it sits right next to me at night by the fire so I can listen to it instead of my neighbors.
Transcend is the best looking stick and tin campers on the market! Yes just do away with the outdoor speakers. Infact do away with the whole stereo system, add a sound bar with Bluetooth capability to the TV. Portable Bluetooth speakers for outside have gotten inexpensive and sound really good.
I do agree. They have some of the most modern looks overall. new Jay flight was looking pretty sharp to me recently though

I like the look of the glass doors, but man are they gonna be loaded with fingerprints. I wish our 265bh had that little extra bedroom storage setup and the bathroom shower storage flipped like it is here.

I'm not surprised you thought of Reflections too. The moment I saw the living room I immediately thought it looks a lot like the Reflection 260 RDS fifth wheel or 296 RDTS travel trailer. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the big fridge that they do. Just like you, I used to do a little, but a little wouldn't do so a little became more and more. I agree, they should build in the same bedside cubbies into this line of campers that are in the Imagines. Shade and deadbolt or not, still not a fan of a bedroom door to the outside. Yeah, Transcends do look amazing for being cardboard boxes, but despite that and still being from Grand Design, a stick and tin is still a stick and tin. Nothing inherently wrong with stick and tin, but for us, going "all the way" and full timing is a possibility, so we need something that can Winter just as easily. Thanks as always, Uncle Josh!

Have you done a factory tour for transend? How different is their quality over say alliance or is that a taboo topic comparison of quality? It's pretty to look at but will it hold up to the rug rats?
Not yet. GD is funny about factory tours but I finally got a green light. Problem is I’ve been overwhelmed with new stuff coming out
Rumors that the 24 models of transcend will cheapen the cabinetry by not using hard wood core?
That was not the case when I went through them. I haven’t seen a truly updated 24, but I don’t suspect that will happen.
I’ll double check that when I see an updated unit out and make sure I point that out and whatever coming videos I can put together

Hi Josh, just wanted your opinion on the Transcend RV snow load capability. Looking to purchase an rv and wanted your thoughts on travel trailers or 5th wheel trailers. I live in mid northern Ontario Thanks, Frank .
Walkable roof. Should be able to handle most snow loads. i know some parts of the country get extreme stuff. I think their total roof load rating is between 2-3,000lbs spread across the structure

Couldn't they make the carrying capacity bigger by using heavier axles?
Not necessarily. They may not be the weakest link in the chain. Your cargo capacity is limited by either axles, your floor, tires, or any number of things. Axles alone won’t necessarily change that.
