I just remembered this game and within the first few seconds I remembered that the opening sequence with the frog used to scare the shit out of me. But the game itself was so sick. Anybody agree?
I remember playing this game when i was 6 , 7 , 8 years old, what an amazing game, I was never able to beat it until recent years. Top 3 Nintendo game every made.
One of my favorite games on the NES. Btw, for every 2nd boss there is a cheat to defeat them. Hit them with a bomb, and when they light up from the damage, hit Pause on your controller. The damage will continue (you will see it). Let it do that for 30 seconds or so then unpause. You'll have a dead boss! On the really hard bosses, I suggest maxing your gun points so you have the rainbow wave attack (passes through walls too).
This game just gave me a flashback. My uncle used to have this game & i would play for hours. Completly forgot about it now that Im grown. That intro gave me goosebumps.
I came here after playing Blaster Master Zero. Wow. It was awesome then and just as great now. Sunsoft knew how to make NES games! And Blaster Master Zero on switch is a great remake.
I remember playing this game and watching my uncles playing it when I was like 6 or 7. They couldn't get past a boss later in the game and I learned that if you paused the game while shooting at the boss and the bullets hitting the boss it would make the game think the boss was taking damage the whole time and when you unpaused the game the boss would be dead.
My cousin handed down his nes to me when I was really young, this was one of the games he had. I had no clue what was going on, I could only make it 20 mins in gameplay
This was some damn nostalgic stuff. I remember staying up all night playing it, going to school the next day exhausted. I loved this game so much as a kid, it was one of my favorite games, along with metroid, Final fantasy, Zelda, Dragon quest, Chrono trigger, almost all RPGs games really. Nintendo was the best for good RPGs. Can't forget Contra, Castlevania, Battle toads, Ninja turtles. The list is just huge, nes and snes had hit after hit after hit.
Awesome game! I remember renting this game back in the days, and I also remember I was so frustrated after traversing all those huge levels without a clue of what to do or where to go, but the game is solid gold, that can't be denied. I just wish it was a little bit more linear, the levels are immense and some people (like myself) get tired of searching for hours without actually advancing in the game. I guess I'll give it another try soon and maybe some of its sequels. :D
Blaster Master is a game that is worthy of the classic title, simply because the game has so much to offer the gamer and it doesn’t take a scientist to learn how to play
Much like all the other comments as a kid in the 80's that opening with the frog creeped.. me.. out. Lol. But by Far one of the best Nes games ever made. Gameplay, BMG, Story. 100% Blaster Master Boi.
Who remembers that stinking crab boss battle? Omg I could not beat him for the anything and I had to use use the cheat where you pause the game after throwing the bomb. Lol!
All i remember about this game was that my mom bought this for me and my brothers at $49.99 at toys R us toy store. Sucks it was only a one player game ( -- )
Nothing like the RIF program for getting me the old Worlds of Power light novel of Blaster Master. That was fun reading, and the story was great for what it was.
How could you kill the stage 1 boss so quickly? I gave it at least twice as many shots as you did and it did not die. I play on a PAL console, is NTSC in general easier?
One of my favorites. Begged my mother to buy me my own copy. Greedy fat uncle had his locked away in his smelly room. Unreachable. Stingy bastard. However, Watching a grown man get jealous over me getting my own copy was gratifying.
I love the story of this game: Pet frog escapes from cage. Everyone has a barrel of toxic waste in their backyard. Frog touches toxic waste, grows to the size of an elephant. Frog the size of an elephant escapes through a small hole in the ground to another universe or something, everyone has these in their backyard too. There’s no way the boy can reclaim his pet now that it’s so big but he chases it anyway to get it back. Finds a tank at the bottom of the hole, those are in everyone’s backyard too... We need better stories for video games people, otherwise whenever someone says that video games rot your mind this is just another reason they’re right.
i guess if you find a random unattended tank in your back-yard, it's not completely unreasonable if you start killing everything around you with extreme prejudice

Yup. Loved this game. I searched for a video of it hoping it would have the opening scene in it lol
Wow! This game just popped up in my head like 1 hour ago I had to look it up lol!
30 years old here lol

Late response but the intro used to scare the shit out of me as a kid.
@@passiveobserver Not late! I remember being scared of that frog too. I dunno why, but the music with it would freak me out.
The theme song to the first stage is legendary, it let people know that they were about to handle some seriously heavy shit with that tank.
i remember there was no save option, so i use to turn the tv off and the nes running over night to play the next day...unbelievably awesome game!
The controls in this game were ahead of its time.

I love Blaster master .
I wonder if Jason in Sophia the 3rd (or in other words, the Blast Master tank) could be incorporated into SSB characters.
One of the most awesome games on NES!
I used to play this hours on end
Blaster Master looks amazing!!!

The shooting/killing sound effect sounds just like the one in Festers Quest
Before there was GTA, there was Blaster Master! It's awesome that this is on the Switch.

BEST 8-BIT MUSIC IN A NINTENDO NES GAME!
I remember playing this a lot when I was little

Sunsoft used some of the sound effects in other games like Fester's Quest and Journey to Silius.
Nothing like the RIF program for getting me the old Worlds of Power light novel of Blaster Master. That was fun reading, and the story was great for what it was.
What color Name have Sophia the 3rd in Blaster Master?
Loved this game as a kid. Never got past a certain boss...
Same. Think it's about time for a re playthrough

This game was a blast!!
Eve appears in this game? Or was created for the 3DS one?
Final boss looks really familiar? lol
FESTERS QUEST! BOSS
One of my favorites. Begged my mother to buy me my own copy. Greedy fat uncle had his locked away in his smelly room. Unreachable. Stingy bastard. However, Watching a grown man get jealous over me getting my own copy was gratifying.
Back on the Switch eh! :)
Great game, get's a little hard though, but that's just me.

i guess if you find a random unattended tank in your back-yard, it's not completely unreasonable if you start killing everything around you with extreme prejudice
Waooo I forgot about it! it was awesome!
How do you have radioactive ☢️ stuff in your back yard lol
What a terrible reason to hop in a tank and shoot stuff...a frog!?!
never seen this game before till now, that intro made little to no sense but the game looks cool
Alot of the sound effects were recycled for another Sunsoft game that came out a year later called Fester's Quest.
What time is your, marvin,! marvin,!!

Many times like mariosomuss.
totally agree!
All this for a stupid frog?
