in an era of hope and possibilities! Hop in and head to the burger joint.

A Simple Car for a Simpler Time in history. Sometimes today when I see all the bells and whistles on new cars...I think about how simple cars were back in the day and it almost makes me want to drive one of these simple cars instead of some electric mobile that can drive itself! This was a real beauty. Love the color too. Love the interior. I also liked the Buick and Pontiacs of this same year that are similiar. Of course Chevrolet didn't get one because they had the Corvair and had the Corvair since 1960. Thanks for the walk down memory lane in a 1962 Oldsmobile Cutlass F-85. I wish you could have done a test drive!!

This was my first car. Bought it in 1970 from a friend of my dad's for $1. I was 14 and the car was a basket case. I then spent 3 years rebuilding everything. Countless hours reading Chilton manuals at the library. It wasn't ugly to me. Boy did I learn a lot about cars. Wish I still had it.

I had a Beige one. I remember it having the Aluminum Block engine and there being some kind of problem with the radiator because of it. We bought it new in 1962 and I don't remember why it went away. I had it about 3 or 4 years maybe. I have a black and white picture of me sitting on it and decided to research it some. I love these and the Skylark/Special from the same year. I saw one at a church near me about 20 years ago and haven't seen another in person since. Very unique styling and the doors were shared with the Skylark and Tempest to cut costs much like the Falcon/Comets. The afterburner tail lights are the best part. So much more interesting to look at than today's blahmobiles.

I had a 1962 Skylark with the 215 11 to 1 compression 195 HP. It had factory air PS, PB and power windows. And unlike this Olds it was a hardtop. It is sure hard to find parts for these though. Yep the windshields are worth a fortune. Because of that I bought two 1962 Skylark parts cars mostly for the windshields.

Sorry, I certainly agree your 62 Olds is in no way plain or ugly. I had one just like it, but I remember the air cleaner having a decal, ROCKETTE 8, a humble nod to the Rocket 8 big powerful engine. The original paint gleamed having spent most of its life garaged. I bought it in 1973 with 29,000 miles on it. I vaguely remember a detective show from the 60’s that featured the car. No idea why but plenty of shots featuring the car.

Neatly restored, simply beautiful ! Not overdone... I like most of 60's cars, they are not too big nor too small. Iconic 60's utilitarian designs very nice! But if your going to drive a vintage car often, for safety you must put : seatbelts, front disc brakes and preferably with a/c.

I had a Heather Mist Metallic one of these with a console, shift on the floor, and a non working air conditioner. The inside was silver vinyl with dark trim. After I got rid of it, I found out it was stolen from a paint shop it ended up in. It was very deluxe for the time, and I miss all of the cars made until 1985.

That's a really nice little Olds. I can't recall the last time I saw one. And this was despite the fact I grew up in a neighborhood within walking distance from a former Olds dealer! That was Anderson Oldsmobile in Baltimore (I'm still living in that city today). That dealer sold Buicks, Chevys, Pontiacs, Volkswagens, Sterlings, AMC's, and Hondas! It's still in business, but in a larger location and now sells just Buicks, GMC trucks, and Hondas. The 215-cid aluminum V-8, if I'm not mistaken, was the smallest V-8 engine offered at that time, and, as someone else mentioned, was later sold to Rover of England. Wish I could find a '62 Cutlass F-85! They couldn't find a windshield? Couldn't a glass shop make one?!

Along with being insulting you are also ill informed on the history of the Cutlass.
The first year of the Cutlass was 1961 and it is distinguishable from the 1962 in one obvious way. It has an arched spear sweep on each side, similar to what you see on the mid fifties Buick. The '62 Cutlass has a linear chrome sweep on each side. In any case, '61 was the first model year for the Olds Cutlass.
