On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-15-18.
We’re looking at a 1970 Oldsmobile Olds Cutlass W-31 in Sebring Yellow Paint. The car features a factory installed 350 CI V8 engine.
The car's Owner is Randy Miles. Randy’s had this car since 2008. Randy shares details of this unique paint color of his car.

Having owned a 70 Cutlass SX (455 two barrel-gold over tan with black top) and 70 422, (350 four barrel-gold with black stripes), the W31 is one of my bucket list dream cars...Love the color-not a yellow fan but this is striking! Fabulous car and restoration Lou. The GM A-body's were so handsome. That 350 with the rear-end combo should've gven that Olds some real low-end grunt. The W-series twin scoop hood gave it a real bad-boy look on an otherwise sleeper looking rig. Overall a great car! Thanks for sharing.

W31 are are my favorite cars! My dad had a Cutlass S just before I was born. He bought it brand new. It was his first new car!

I can't remember seeing such a YELLOW Cutlass before. The yellow wheels really finish off the effect.
Agreed! Lotsa gold Cutlass's around but no yellows. Yellow in a sense didn't exactly fit into the Old's image...that being said I kinda dig the theme! Especially with the rim hubcap combo - really pops!
Agreed, unique color for sure.
Since many of the comments are about the choice of color and admittedly agree it's a choice they may not have made but still like it leads me to believe that the design of the body is so beautiful that as long as the paint is top notch this car will look fantastic in ANY color. (Now try to imagine a color you'd never put on this car and tell me what you think in the end.)
@@rudolphguarnacci197 Our comments about the color are all positive as we are all filled with a sense of wonder by the hue. My recollection tells me that the Cutlass of the late 60s and early 70s was also one of the best cars on the road . Where I live these were daily drivers well into the 1980s which says a lot about their mechanical reliability as well as their comparative ability to withstand rust.
@@loucostabile Hi Lou, I wonder if you have a video featuring the dealer catalogue on the Cutlass of this era. It would be good to know exactly how many paint choices there were in those days.
I remember that someone in the small town that I worked in had a Rallye 350 and my high school auto mechanics teacher had a yellow 442 W30. What cool cars.

My brother owned one of these cars back in 1980 i think he bought it for around $1800 It was a factory yellow car. We lived in Livonia Mi. he bought it from a guy who lived a few streets over from us, my brother knew it was an ultra rare car when he bought it but he ended up selling it shortly after buying it.
PS i was younger when he bought it but i remember he said it had a fiberglass hood & decklid, and all kinds of other rare parts

My baby back in 89 was a 72 white cutlass supreme so I go bonkers whenever I see Olds muscle from back in this time (mainly 70-72). I'll keep hanging on to my dream of owning another 1. God they were good driving cars. Just a touch of class. WTG Lou. Bravo

The W31 oldsmobiles are my absolute favorite car of all time.
That 350 would bash most big blocks on the street and track. Even beating it's big brother W30 alot of times ! Thanks Lou for showing me my dream car !

Radical oldsmobile w31 only about 1000 made I saw one that was powder blue a color only available on the toronado like the small block 350 with the dual gate shifter 👍💯

My sister had a 1971 Cutlass Supreme in red, different (ours was just a base model but somewhat similar and great nonetheless), this video brought back some of those terrific old(smobile) memories. My favorite Olds W-31 at MCACN! That car was stunning. Beautiful color combo with the Sebring Yellow with the Gold. The W-31 display at MCACN was one of the best invitational displays ever at that show. Thanks Lou for doing a video and story on this car:) I hope that car makes it into some muscle car magazines as it is a truly amazing car.

That's the strangest color combo I've ever seen, sometimes you gotta play the hand you were dealt w colors, it's a beautiful car, and it works, rare car, I got to Judge a car show few years back, and a guy had a 70 SX triple black W30 convertible, every option factory under dash 8 track PW doors seat, I gave him best in show, guy almost cried, said he couldn't compete against Camaros etc? I thought it was due

The Rear Wing was an option on the W-Machines, it was a standard equipped option on the Rallye 350's

If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place. Having said that - while I don't exactly hate the color., I do hate that color on this particular car. Still - the restore is absolutely stunning! I love the car itself a lawt. Inside and out. A well deserved mono-Wow! which coulda been a Wow and a Ooo! :-)
