Hello VERDY [channel] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! The 1st song you reacted is from Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. The 2nd one was performed in 2005 in Helsinki (Finland), with Marco Hietala, the bassist and singer of the band.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Following the success of Beste Zangers show, Floor performed a series of solo concerts in the Netherlands in early 2020 with songs from her entire career (After Forever, Revamp, Northward, Nightwish, Beste Zangers) following that the last and the largest concert, at AFAS Amsterdam, to be professionally recorded and broadcast online, with the support of a crowdfunding campaign. After several rescheduling, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the concert took place at the beginning of September 2021 in 3 consecutive days. I'm enjoying Nightwish since 2004 and everytime I listen any song of them produces me the same smile of happines, goosebumps...love your reaction.
So, you have just heard two of the best Symphonic Metal singers of our generation. Can't wait for you to hear them sing together. Romanticide and Ever Dream from the Wacken 2013 concert would be a great listen. GLS was from the 2013 concert and High Hopes from 2005 concert. This rabbit hole is quite an adventure. Until 2020 Nightwish has been blessed having two phenomenal singers. Then Marko left because of health problems.
@@lillianekockritz2796 I didn't get to see them Live until 2022, and that was only after the US Tour had been postponed twice because of Covid. They were great, but Marko was really missed!! Still miss his voice with Floor's voice.
@@randymarple9830 I think we all do but Nightwish survived many changes and is still great. Of course Troy cannot take over all Marko parts - he has a beautiful but totally different voice (much softer) - but at least some of them and Floor does the rest. But I fear some songs we will never hear again on stage because Marko had a prominent part in them that cannot be replaced.

What a great introduction to the Great Nightwish....you get to hear Floor Jansen ( the current lead singer) with one of the greatest vocal performances ever in " Ghost love Score " and than Marco sing " High Hopes" ( floor wasnt in the band during that performance) wait till you hear them sing together .
Floor is an Angel from beyond and that's the reason she was able to learn all the lyric in 48 hours. She arrived to help the band and keep them from failing!

I really like the fact you appreciate changes and intricacy of Ghost Love Score. A lot of folks that are used to the standard song formats are put off by the progressive nature of the song.

GLS is just a superb piece of music, period.
And for high Hopes, as a long life fan op Pink Floyd (66 years old Dutch bloke) and seen them several times, this not just a cover. This is the ultimate tribute from an exceptional band to an exceptional band!!!!
And it's hardly fair that two of the best metal singers are, actually were (Marco did quit a year ago, and I hope he will be back) in the same band.
Their harmonies are out of this world!

The song is Pink Floyd cover. During Nightwish show when Marco was singing the female singer was changing her outfit.

I'm a huge Maiden fan...and only fairly recently discovered NW...but I reckon they'd run Maiden pretty close. Maiden's Rock in Rio 2001 in front of 250,000 and NW Wacken 2013 are the 2 best live shows I've ever seen. Every single song is a classic, and all members of both bands were t the very top of their game...and Floor's slightly more attractive than Bruce 😏

Welcome to the first step of the magical journey down the musical rabbit hole we fans call Nightwish! recommend reacting to Everdream and Romanticide also from this festival (Wacken 2013). Though any song from this concert is excellent! She was fairly new to performing with them (10 months) and none of the songs she sings were written with her vocal talents in mind.

welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive).
this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream"
this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

She (Floor Jansen) nailed GLS and he (Marko Hietala) killed High Hopes and Emppu Vuorinen with his 2 excellent guitarsolo's was amazing. What more can you want in one day.
My daughter is a huge Nightwish fan, so... as a good father I bought 2 years ago 2 tickets for a live concert here in Amsterdam ...Corona messed everything up in a huge way but at 27 november 2022 it was the first time in my life to experience Nightwish myself as a 60 years old guy...I enjoyed every minute of it.. What an energy in that concert! And 6 weeks before that Floor Janssen (lead singer) was in hospital because of breast cancer.. (all went well)...Hats off for them!

Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. I love watching people enjoying good music. You seemed really absorbed in it. I have heard Ghos Love Score before but not the second one. I was familiar with the female vocals but it amazed me the first time I heard the bass player sing. It was very unexpected and he has a fantastic voice. If you listen to other songs where the two singers perform together, they really compliment one another incredibly well.

Tuomas Holopainen's keyboard screen in the first video was inspired by a sculpture in Helsinki, Finland (The band's home country) dedicated to Finnish national composer Jean Sebelius. For a while Nightwish used to open their concerts with Sebelius's, "Finlandia Hymn". The pipes even sometimes had sparkler fireworks shooting out of them.

Its great to see more people joining the Nightwish family, so welcome. Watch High Hopes again you see Tuomas nod to Emmpu to check on the drummer Jukka, he was suffering with a very bad migraine. He puts his head on drum kit a few times. And yet he managed to do the whole concert, he is a legend!! Sadly he had to leave the band due to illness and handed the sticks Kai Hahto, another legend, I cannot wait to see them in november here in the Uk...watch the poet and the pendulum, there is a heart breaking story behind the song.
