I completed a quick course on LinkedIn Learning for ArchiCAD, as I am completely new to the software, but I feel I have learned a lot more already within half an hour from a video like yours, keep up the good work!
Awesome video David ,thanks for everything mahn.
You are most welcome
it's been such a great help, thank you for the work you do🙏
Happy to hear that!
Thanks mate, appreciate the archicad videos. Top notch.
No problem 👍
Love your video! Can you do a video for beginners on how to design an upwards extension for an existing building? Showing how to import data of an existing building and adding a floor/rooms?
Thank you so much! starting a new job tomorrow at a new office and they only use Archicad. The program looks fairly straight forward and easy to learn so I'm a lot less nervous now. Thanks man.
Most welcome!
Last time I worked in Archicad was probably in 2014 bfore I moved to USA, and I believe it was Version AC 18... I see that it has changed a lot and looks much better. I still miss some of the features Archicad had. Since then, I had to learn and work in Revit and now I mostly model everyting in sketchup... I just wish there was a software that had all the benefits from Archicad, Revit, Rhino and the design flexibility of Sketchup. One can only dream.... Great video! Hearing you say some of the shortcuts brings a lot of nostalgia.
Haha the nostalgia is real! Hopefully the transition to revit wasn't too painful 😂
THANKS MAN 🙏
Most welcome mate!
Would be helpful if you explain what you exactly do and why you select specific settings
Where can you get the extra items for your product library
Hey David. I have the educational version of 26. And, I notice that I cannot make a single wall line that allows me to go around in circles to choose a 45 degree wall. It only gives me a square. So, I cannot put a wall at an angle like you do at 3:40. Please help! Thanks
Thank you
Most welcome mate!
When I do the mirror option at 5:17 it moves my piece instead of copying it (mirror copy). Help to what I might be doing wrong? (also im on a PC)
Hi,
I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle! Don’t have the ‘walls external’ layer, or any of the composites you have, can you advise where I can find these so I can continue?
Thanks 😊
Same prob here! I started off with Structural - Bearing layer and none of the composites he has
Good morning
I have a little problem when I want to knock down the wall I type p on the keyboard but the latter does not respond the same for the m key when I type m it does not correspond to the mirror but a graduated line.
THANKS
hi, just a question, neither of these short commands work for me. For example mirroring the roof, connecting the roof pieces in the middle or marking all the walls to make them all a different height, do u have any idea why that is? its driving me mad to do it all manually...
Good job
Thanks
I am using the same version on Windows, I don't have that library of wall materials, is it something that is downloaded externally?, thanks David,
The second letter in the word 'escape' is 's' not 'x' but I like the video. It's only a shame that desktop computers cannot agree on anything but building market silos. I'm renting a car on Monday 3000km from where I live. Software companies, eat-your heart out! If only it where the side of the road. Good video.
Where can I find the template you are using?
nice
Thanks!
David, I always learn something from your tutorials, what about putting this little project into Twinmotion.
Currently the plugin for ac26 is not out so you'd have to export it as a sketchup file and then import it into twinmotion
Why does everything seem to be different to yours? For example, I'm not getting the blue arrow symbols/dashed lines once configuring the storey heights. Also, I'm not getting the same wall layer or composite options.
Hi David, thanks for this video. It's helping me orient myself around Archicad. When you go to the footing level, where is it that you click on 'show as trace reference' please? I don't see anything like that when I go to the footing level. Thanks, K
Right click the level you wish to see as a trace in the navigator and select show as trace reference. If you have anything on that level to show (based on the default layer settings) it will show up
i dont have Wall-external layer or 90mm wall type in my archicad 26
Hi I've had the same problem have you figured it out yet
Me too......
Liked! Great content! May I know what’s your PC spec? I am thinking getting one for worry it might not be able to perform efficiently
I'm currently running a Mac studio ultra
hello. How do you design the framing & rafters inside the walls and roofs?
Using beams and columns
I agree that the default orange pen being horrendous, I usually just put the overrides to 'Black with coloured fills', they have fully changed the pen tools in archicad 26! Time to learn a new workflow.
Love the videos, great to learn new shortcuts and approaches. Do you do your documentation through Archicad as well?
They've changed almost all the tools in 26, almost feels like we're going backwards in the UI style. Yeah I do everything I'm archicad from sketch to construction docs
@@DavidTomic Thanks for the reply! You've got me looking into 4D Library. Seems more comprehensive than the CI addons
sir, can you please tell why i can not adjust the shower size just lke you did..thank u
Should be able to select the corner black node and then use the adjust tool in the toolbar to adjust it. Otherwise open settings ctrl + t and adjust at the top in the dimensions
ctrl+I isnt working for me 😭 I just manually moved the walls
Also, when I got to the part where we looked at the model in 3D, my walls had no height in them and it still resembled a 2D drawing. Any idea why please? I set the height of the ground floor to 2574mm.

How to download archicad for students in india?
Please make a video about softwares you can't have in MacBook and the pros of having one. I really LOVE apple products but I don't know if it's worth it please 🥺🙏🙏🙏🙏 I love your archicad videos
The list would be a lot shorter if I made a video on software you could have 😂
Thank u so much … awesome…
Could u show me this mouse for using Archicaf like you .😊.
I am using the logitech master MX 2S mouse
I'm using Archicad 26 INT but I'm not seeing the variety of wall options you have. Especially the stud walls for interior and exterior
The walls represent common types in Australia. For the purposes of the tutorial it doesn’t really matter what wall type you use but I suggest you use one that’s relevant to your country
I can't find any custom walls like sp02 in my archicad, where can I finde them?
It will be a template issue. Try downloading the international template from archicad.
david i cant connect the roofs in the middle, i've done press alt ctrl, the roofs still the same position and not connect in the middle, what should i do? thanks for ur answer
Select one roof, hold ctrl and then click the other roofs edge line..it should automatically align.
If not you can always adjust manually just a bit more work
@@DavidTomic thanks david, sorry i wanna ask 1 more out of topic question, do you know why my accessorries cant appear in design extras although ive downloaded archicad goodies 26 for my archicad 26
i want to make a dome home but cant find anything on youtube. i just want a basic monolithic dome with doors and windows. can you make a video on this process in archicad?
A lot of it will be custom as it's on curves, but I can incorporate it into a video for you. Stay tuned!
@@DavidTomic awesome! thx. :]
Hey man would you help me please, I want to decide, it’s between sketchup and archcard. What do you suggest?
Depends what you're looking at doing. Sketchup is good for quick blocking and stacking, also has a good rendering engine. Archicad is good for design and construction documentation
Revit
The toilet has no sink... I don't think it's convenient to go to the toilet, then go the bedroom and then over to to other bathroom just to wash your hands xD
But nice tutorial :) I used to work with ArchiCAD, it's indeed very handy to use, but I switched to Allplan, a German software for architects and civil engineers and I'm a civil engineer, so I'm really happy about a software that is not just tailored to architects ^^ It's really hard to use though xD I miss ArchiCAD hahaha
Haha yes it wasn't the best floor plan but it showed the basics :) I've heard allplan a few times new especially on one of my last videos where I talked about all different software's and upset a lot of people by not mentioning things like all plan haha
hi david, nice video, I'm Mauro (the text is translated from Italian to English, I don't speak English, sorry). I wanted to ask you a question about AC26. I have installed the version (build 3010 FULL ITA), and in the 3D window view (shaw all 3D), the model always presents an annoying problem of: antialiasing (jagged lines). From your video, I noticed that you don't have this problem.
Question: Can the AC26 and AC25 "antialiasing" problem be solved?
(for example in AC24 it is not so accentuated)
Thank you if you can answer me.
Greetings Mauro.
Usage: MacBook Pro 16 (M1Max, late 2021, macOS Monterey 12.6) and Studio Display
Hi Mauro,
Jump on our discord chat and send through some example screenshots. Let's see if we can solve your problem!
Please can I use archicad on IPAD without laptop?
not currently. BIMX is the closest you'll get
how to set archicad in dark mode
Whats difference from this and Chief Architect.
Please How to create a ramp in Archicad 24
Multiple options.
1. Use the roof tool
2. Use the mesh tool
3. Use the ramp object
4. Use the morph tool
How come you’re working in the project map? I was taught to always work in the view map
I do it only for these videos as I’m using the generic template and can’t be bothered setting something up and explaining it in every video. However I do reference it many times in other videos
@@DavidTomic understood, great tutorial either way 👍
Awesome video sir👌👌.
Sir I have just completed my class12 that is senior secondary school. I will be doing my bachelors in architecture or architecture engineering from Australia.
So, I am confused between these two fields which one should I choose.
If I talk about the technical part that is the engineering part, I m pretty confident about it that I will be able to do it and have immense interest in that, but I don't know about the design part whether I will be able to do that or not. As per now I dont know whether I have interest in design or not.
So, I just wanted to ask that can a person learn and understand the designing part once he enters into the course.
Also, I m very poor at drawing and I don't like it.
If you do not like designing or drawing (drawing isn't very important) it sounds like you would be better suited to an engineering degree. I made a video architecture vs engineering, worth watching. It might help
@@DavidTomic Thank you so much sir for the reply.
Sir but it is said that architects are like doctors, they have the overview of each and everything, whether its about construction, material, structures. Therefore, I want to consider B.Arch also in my graduation.
So, what if I take a degree that covers both engineering and architecture coz there are some courses like engineering with architecture which are available. So, in this case both the options would be open for me, once I complete my graduation. And then I can get specialization in one field.
Sorry to disturb u sir again&again but I would highly grateful to u, if you could help and guide me about the same, coz I m heavily confused it.
Great tutorial. I only missed the command when the roof is merged at the middle.
Select one roof. Hold control/cmd. Click on the other roof edge you want to merge/align with.
Thanks! It worked! Tried moving the edged at the middle, but the join was overlaping. Now everything is nice. @@DavidTomic
Personally, if me I would prefer the archicad, interface is better than revit even though I studied my diploma under using revit.
Agreed
Baffles me how the newest version always comes loaded with glitches. Will wait for 27 to come out before implementing 26.
Always the case haha
Bro., is archicad better than chief architect???
In my personal opinion, which is subjective and somewhat bias, yes I believe it is.
What to do when P and D button doesn't work?
Check the keyboard shortcuts are set accordingly.
@@DavidTomic I think, I have to use other shotcuts, because I'm using a german version
haha where is the BIM in your video? IFC models with collaborations?
Looks like autodesk revit even user interface is also same
Very similar but there are some major difference between revit and archicad. I made a video about it a few years back, worth watching still
@@DavidTomic which one is better in drafting ?
I am very sorry, but the speed of the video is not suitable for beginners. You should have taken that into consideration. I am thankful for the information you provided, but I had to struggle a lot to follow your actions. That was a tough experience.
Try the full length course on my channel instead
@valeriagerts6040 I guess it’s based on the individual, I found this very easy to digest and follow along, slower tutorials are very hard for me to follow along with.😅
How big is that vanity ? It’s half the width of the room. 😂
Big hand problems 😂
American here to inform you that this is not a log cabin or a timber framed house. 😂
Fair 😂
@@DavidTomic 🤪 thanks for the tutorial. I am interviewing with a company that uses archicad. Do you have one that touches on the interface?
this is too fast
Yea I'm so lost while watching this
Agreed! How are we defining how tall our walls should be, before even knowing how to get to the interface.🥲
Sorry buddy, your tutorial is way too fast for someone coming straight from AutoCad. Best of luck though.
Maybe try the full archicad course rather than a crash course. It’s on the channel in its own playlist
