For seasons Starclan has tormented and been unfair to the cats below their skies, all whilst the clans continue to worship them, blind to the injustice. Follow Jayfeather as he enters Starclan in an attempt to save Ivypool, and experience the horrors yourself.
Following the events of It’s me, and You Can’t Hide, the story continues through “ Starless Night “. Being filled with 167 parts, with over 200+ participants working extremely hard in the course of 3 months- this huge project is FINALLY complete.

Hey guys we found a couple of miscredits after the map was finalized so I’ll list them here so y’all can go support the artists!!
-that jayfeather neck snap part in the help route was actually animated by **Aviannauts**
-the second part of the Not Follow route was animated *Darkxada *formerly known as DarkGalaxyHero
-In the approach silhouette route the person who drew The part with Riverstar saying “this is the core” is actually drawn by *agent clare *
-in approach silhouette *Loboloko and Crossed Salt *helped out with the part where Riverstar says “the core is powerful power and destructive” etc etc

Abandoned: Not to bad! Jay gets home. But it seems he forgot to pick up Jay from her Dance!
Desolate: Poor Jay… this scares me in a way. Now Jay is all alone at Sundown, miles away from any clan. He will be lucky to even survive the night, not to mention the way home.
True Death: Oh my… he tried- he did- but he just couldn’t make it…
Starless: This is probably the best ending by far. Even tho we lose Jay and Ivy, now the evil StarClan is gone!

After dying so many times as Jayfeather... and saving Ivypool once, leaving her to die as well.... I could play this forever!! This is so fascinating, AMAZING WORK EVERYONE

this is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. major congratulations to everyone involved.
(SPOILERS BELOW)
i really adore that none of the endings are inherently happy. in fact most of them are horriffic, with terrible implications for not only the characters but for the rest of the clans. and the deeper you read into the lore of it all, the more chilling it gets. i'd say the happiest ending is Sacrifice, where Jayfeather still dies horriffically and Ivypool is forced to live not only with survivors guilt, but in the body of the cat who saved her. thats terrifying. would she tell the other cats that its her and that Jayfeather is dead, or would she simply pretend to be him, most likely being found out anyway? what would her friends and family think? how would you even react to this situation?
and the use of FNAF ambience and sound effects really added to the surrealism of the project, too. i felt this awful twisting knot of dread in my stomach the whole time, which was only tightened by the *amazing* art. some of the eldritch starclan cat designs made me a little nauseous, i won't lie.
i say this in the best way possible - this experience felt like a fever dream, and i hope you all keep making incredible projects like this. i might even be a part of one someday, who knows... 👀

Every single one of you who took part of this project push through to make it possible and I want to take a minute to appreciate and thank all animators, artists and spectators for all of their hard-work, determination and dedication to make this MAP come alive! The memories, the memes, and the conversations we all had is definitely a moment to cherish and should never be forgotten. All of you are truly amazing people! ❤️

Call me crazy but I don't believe Starclan is bad here.
Hear me out!
With every ending we get depends on the initial choice of following Spottedleaf.
If we follow her, we learn the true intentions of the events leading to having to enter Starclan in the first place.
Ivypool (in this video) knew that Spottedleaf was in trouble and because she tried to interfere, ended up in Starclan but not dead (yet)
When we choose to follow Spottedleaf, she 'rewards' Jayfeather with a disguise
(I believe this to be a way for him to go around Starclan unharmed but also as a way to prove his loyalty to cat heaven)
As we follow her, we get used to the terrain and the other Starclan cats shockingly are unbothered but are curious. Until we get to our next decision, The Attack, if we choose to help her, she immediately puts out 'the threat' with no remorse and we continue our journey through the cave only to get put down.
From Jayfeather's POV, he blindly followed, leaving him and Ivy dead in Starclan.
One thing to remember is that even as we saw other Starclan cats, none attacked or harmed the main three. We don't know why Bluestar (presumably, idk if that's her) was contorting the black cat in the beginning but we ASSUMED she was doing something wrong based on Jayfeather's reaction.
Going back to the 'Follow' path, if we don't choose to help Spottedleaf, she fends on Ivy just fine and we're back on our way to the out of bounds, but this time we question why we're here. As she's about to end us -as well as our disguise diminishes- Ivy comes in and attacks again. Both of their disguises fall and it's revealed that Spottedleaf is a dark forest cat. Ivypool is GLAD she's ok but Spottedleaf is pissed and explains that the DF promised her prosperity and a long life if she abligged.
I believe this proves that Starclan isn't unjust but the cats that make up Starclan are and because no cat in Starclan really addresses this, Starclan continues further into darkness.
Back to it, once the two know the truth, they flee trying to return to the land of the living to warn the clans, but it's too late, their disguises have fallen and they're met with Starclan's fury. Spottedleaf's true colors also show and she is immediately cornered by Starclan as a traitor. They pull her in an engulf her, which I assume is to put her to trail.
Meanwhile Ivy and Jay realize that Ivy's body is gone and they didn't fine it.
We find Jay's body and are again met with another choice. Return ourselves or sacrifice ourselves.
Starting with return,
We apologize to Ivy for being unable to help her return but as we come back see that her body is distorted and disfigured, a tear falling down her face (this is GENUINELY important since this means somehow she's returned to her body, the smile she gives before Jayfeather heads back leads me to believe she found it on her own OR she was too far gone so that when he returned her body, probably already damaged by Spottedleaf, was disfigured.)
Dovewing sees the body of her mauled sister and we're left to believe that Jayfeather may be left to bare the burden of being unable to save her.
Now for sacrifice,
When Jayfeather sends Ivy back, we hear a similar line from Dovewing but a small pool is left in the nest that the now Ivypool possessed Jayfeather now sees she's returned as Jay himself. She is in horror by this, now again left with the knowledge that Jayfeather is in Starclan and she is now expected to be the new medicine cat and explain this all to Dovewing.
In both endings, regardless of who we save, one is left in Starclan to die.
A few questions do arise as well as some speculation.
Who gave Ivy the disguise?
Tbh idk
What does this mean for the sacrifice vs save endings, why are those the only two with contorted photos?
PERSONALLY, I believe it's because regardless of who's saved, one is lost and the other's view of Starclan is distorted. They not only live with guilt but with a new view that not all of Starclan is righteous and what is believed to be a glorious afterlife.
What about the other endings? Why not break those down too?
The other endings with Refuse chosen initially, to me PERSONALLY, aren't narrative.
Seeing the map from start to whatever end is chosen, the other endings don't provide any clarity for any party involved.
Following Midnight:
We are lead to a beach, her home, leaving everyone in the dark, Ivy left in Starclan, and the living left to wonder.
Following Rock:
We never find out what happens to Ivy, we don't know what happened with Spottedleaf, we don't know the truth.
Approaching Riverstar:
We learn of those forgotten, but are put in a position of life for all of Starclan, the paths of the living and our goal: find Ivypool. We just end it all and even if it's seen as good, like I mentioned before, Starclan isn't bad, those in it are. We ended everything because we believed it would make things better to erase everything instead of addressing the problem.
Refuse to help:
Jay ends up dead trying to leave with no guidance. He does not because of Starclan entirely but because he followed a vengeance that wasn't his own and tried to return to his faith, but by then it was too late.
Do I believe there's a good or bad ending?
No, regardless of what happened one or the other would have passed. The clear cut story made us choose between Ivy and Jay. And as much as it hurts, one of them going back to explain, is better than none returning or completely erasing Starclan as a whole.
It seems so easy to just erase everything, but it's never that easy without causing some form of pain.
Learning and growing is a better alternative.
I could go into depth about each ending but this is LONG.
But this is just a theory, a MAP theory
Edit: Also, I'm realizing now that Ivypool's body was next to Jay in the beginning. He leaves her to find her spirit only to see Bluestar do what she did.
I do still believe Spottedleaf removed it (or Ashfur tbh...) But uuuuh yeah just wanted to add that in!!

Starless Night is such an innovative, creative MAP, and it has built a fantastically wonderful community of supporters. Never will I forget the fun times we all had and the valiant way the participants stuck it out to the very end. It was a huge honour to have the opportunity to voice as the guide/spottedleaf in Starless night. This map is absolutely amazing!! Wonderful art and story. I think it's very compelling that there is no true "good" ending. In every single one at least one person loses. It really gives a sense of hopelessness, which can be even scarier than any fictional horror. Nicely done!

the art for the sacrifice and survivor endings genuinely unsettled me, *especially* the ivy face
and none of the endings truly feel like a "good" ending
in every ending atleast one of the two die, and in the starless ending jayfeather and ivy both die and the clans no longer have an afterlife. there is no way to save them both
while it feels like the best ending for the clans is the starless ending, i'd love to see the story continue from maybe the abandoned ending! though having it all open ended leaves alot of room for more stories to pop up from it

This is such a unique concept and I can't wait to see the final project! I love the different endings and the animators worked so hard to bring this project to life! The thumbnail artwork is also great, I love all the paths and characters as little bits and pieces of a single illustration! I can't wait to be there for the premier! I especially can't wait for riverstar

holy pancakes! These endings where Jay stomps first and then Ivy will really haunt me in nightmares. Not a single horror film can be compared with this work of animators. I went through all the endings and realized that I initially chose the most stupid option, _, But I was satisfied!

I HAVE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW COOL IT IS. You guys are great fellows, I was afraid that this year there would be no projects that would sink into my soul, but you made me change my mind! The endings give me goosebumps!
This MAP is honestly the best thing I've ever seen! And the fact that its a choose your own path map makes it even more unique! The art and the colours are absolutely outstanding, and the character design is just *chef's kiss*! I will most definitely show this to my family and friends!

After finishing all of the routes I am rest assured that this is the best map of all time. I can tell the time and effort spent in the story, the visuals, and especially in the organization! Overall one of the best experiences I’ve had on this app as a whole!
