    From other videos I've watched, American flight attendants only start getting their hourly pay when the cabin doors are shut, even if they have to report 1 hour prior to their departure. Sounds like you have a much better situation.

    Hi Bradley, I have just found your channel and your videos are amazing! I have always flown BA - whether if it is to America or Europe. I've never had a problem with BA and always find all of BA's crew very polite and helpful. I have recently flown your club Europe product from London Heathrow Terminal 3 to Budapest terminal 2B on the A320. It was amazing. The middle seat being blocked off is an added bonus and very unique. Everything was perfect, from the lounge on arrival to a hot towel before pushback. The food is also amazing on short and long haul. What I'm not so keen on now is the paid menu in Euro traveller. Thanks Bradley and keep doing what you're doing on and off the flight.

      @ajaj4551 Před 7 lety

      Another question Bradley: there is always an announcement before take off saying"cabin crew, doors to automatic and cross check" and then before landing "cabin crew, doors to manual and cross check".
      1. What does doors to manual and automatic mean
      2. Why is it important
      3. What is a cross check
      4. Why is a cross check important

    • @jasminderpinder
      @jasminderpinder Před 7 lety

      Keiran Davidson, if you don't get your answer here, just type in "Doors to crosscheck' in the CZcams search bar and you will find several videos from other pilots and crew who answer that question. I've seen them and subscribe to a few of them.

    Love your videos, very informative. Just a piece of advice that your voice is relatively soft and the background music tends to cover your voice, which makes it less clear.

    I think aircraft recency is one flight on any aircraft in 3 months and one flight on specific aircraft you are trained on every 6 months.

    Just to clarify, it's not all African destinations that BA crew aren't allowed to leave the hotel. You only mentioned a few in particular Nigeria and Joburg that are dangerous but Accra is an example of a safe African destination that I know crew do like to go and explore as it's safe

    Two questions: 1. If you want to fly somewhere on vacation that BA doesn't serve, can you apply your flight benefits to other airlines? 2. Since you are getting your passport stamped so often do you go through them quickly and does BA pay the fee for you to keep getting new passports?

    • @themayburys

    What qualifications do you need to have to become a flight attendant, do you need a degree and go to uni? Can you go from a college qualification, (obviously being over 18 and customer service experience also) Also do you HAVE to speak at least one or more different languages?

    • @themayburys
      @themayburys  Před 7 lety

      You don't need a degree, when I applied I think it was 5 GCSEs grace C or above but it might have changed. You don't have to speak a language, I only speak English.

      Thank-you, also another question.. Im not sure if you're in a relationship, if you are, is it difficult to make the relationship work do you find it hard being away from your partner?

    • @themayburys
      @themayburys  Před 7 lety +1

      I'm married and yeah it is hard being away, obviously we miss each other loads but at the same time we get to spend a lot of time together on my days off and you make the most of your time together. In terms of making it work we were engaged when I first started the job so we were solid but as long as you trust each other you can definitely make a relationship work!

      Some fly long haul and you get a few nights in the destination, others just fly short haul and would very rarely get off. BA, Virgin, TUI are UK airlines that fly long haul (could be a few others). Or you can apply to non UK airlines who have a base in the UK like Qantas. Or you could apply to middle east airlines and move abroad.

    hello sir,
    I am a turbaned Sikh boy from India and have a beard, as per my religion.
    in Indian domestic airlines, turbaned Sikh boys are allowed to have a beard, even if they are in cabin crew.
    please tell me if British Airways will allow me to work with turban and a beard ?
    please do reply

      @themayburys  Před 7 lety +2

      There's nothing in the uniform guidelines about how short mens hair is allowed. I usually get a .5 on the sides and back. MF was created about 7 years ago as a new contract and anyone who becomes cabin crew now is part of MF. Before MF there was EF who fly European routes and WW who fly long haul.

      Thank you! We have a few chinese speakers on mixed fleet and then regularly do Beijing and Shanghai. I'm not sure about Hong Kong, it's not a MF route. I think you would have to wait until the job came up on the ba job site.

    • @themayburys
      @themayburys  Před 4 lety

      You only really do the questions before the outbound flight. On the way back there is a briefing but it’s more the CSM giving the crew info about the flight (passenger loads, specials etc.) rather than asking questions.

    • @themayburys
      @themayburys  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi! Thanks for the question. When I first started my wife and I were engaged so we were pretty solid together. I suppose it just comes down to trust. We both miss each other a lot but at the same time it comes with benefits as I can bring her with me on trips too. I would say it definitely works, most people in relationships are with someone who isn't crew. Also it makes you appreciate the time you do have together at home.

Ps I have My family there and my house there but if I was working for ba going from London to Mauritius and back would I be allowed to visit my family albeit I am present at the check in for work time ?
