The FIJ1 diplomatic plate was a cool spot!
@WithReeg it is. Diplomatic plates have 3 formats. 2-3 letters and a 1 (and can include the letter i like northern Irish plates) which is what this was. This was the diplomatic (flag) plate for FIJI, off the top of my head Iceland and Pakistan both use i's too. And then the 2 types are for diplomats and staff which are 3 numbers (representing the country) D for diplomats or an X for staff then 3 random letters. 123 D ABC / 123 X ABC

Re the leatherworks. Back in the day, urine was used in the tanning of leather. Poor people would take their pot of urine to the tannery and get a few coppers. If you were so poor that you didn’t have a pot, you were snookered. It’s where the saying, ‘didn’t have a pot to piss in’ came from, meaning your finances were at low tide.
Hence the phrase "Piss poor"
No, this is false. The term comes from the sentence "not to have a pot to piss in nor a window to throw it from". You can look it up and do the research since youtube doesn't like URLs.

Love watching these videos even though I'm from NZ and know very little about London streets haha. Have you considered doing Taxi Bingo? Within one shift, see how much of a bingo card you can fill out with taxi-related things (eg: driving on certain street names, passenger wearing yellow clothing, witnessed a dangerous maneuver, passengers with specific occupations/interesting stories, high tip etc...)
Bingo alone would be boring though, so invite some of the other youtubing cabbies?

0:40 I have the opposite problem. Although I came back to work in December last year and had only taken short "days in lieu" leave, Google Maps still haven't updated street view for some of my local streets. There are even instances where the pictures are at least a year out of date.

I actually had a question regarding the advertisements you sometimes see on cabs - how much are they worth it to you as a cabbie? Do you even get a kick back from them and does a full body wrap pay more than a single side / doors only? Cheers

Re the convo at 7:30 with the couple on south bank and a cab waiting at the rank…what’s the unwritten rule for amount of distance away you can be from a rank without breaking the cabbie code? Curious as the guy was in a wheelchair and maybe didn’t fancy the journey to the rank. Does the rank shotgun the entire street/building or is it a “can in sight” sort of deal?

If I ever want to become a taxi driver in the Netherlands, I want to have a London cab. Only they don't make them it with the steering wheel on the other side or is it useful if I want to quickly help my passengers.
They do… LEVC is a worldwide company with LH drive models… Munich drivers have them
