    Just as a review, I bought the Infinity Reference 6530 Cx as a replacement for my front speakers on a 2005 Mini Cooper S without the Harman Kardon system, and I was impressed by the material quality on the speakers, and thanks to them being way better than originals and now sound being separated by the crossovers, the car now sounds incredible. High tones are extremely crisp, bass is really strong without sounding overpowered, and a better surround effect was accomplished. Really impressed by these. I´m still running my OEM stereo and no amp, so taking that into account speaks even more about their amazing quality.

There’s certain songs I play and they sound way different like you can point out different details of the song. My brother is jealous of them lol. Was really struggling at figuring out what speakers to pair with the Sony 5600 unit I just bought from Crutchfield to put into my 2004 Ram. Based on this video I decided to go ahead and order the 6x9 3way Infinity 9633ix for the front doors and the 6 1/2 2way 6532ex for the rear doors. I hope I made a good decision and these will all play well together.

    Hey guys, I really appreciate your video. You convinced me to purchase these speakers, the only issue I am having is the bass of my speakers is pretty much gone now. They sound amazing but I was still expecting a pretty good thump even with not having an amp. I have 2015 civic, stock head unit. Now I think I might have messes up because I didn't instal the crossover which I thought was for if I had an amp, is this correct or no? The woofers are located in front doors and tweeters are located in front window side panel. Really appreciate yalls help on this.

    Hi Crutchfield. I have a Jeep Wrangler JLU that I'm upgrading. I'm going to put in a component system in the front end a 2 way coaxle in the rear soundbar. Trying to decide between the Inifinty Reference series or the Kicker KS Series. I like the fact the kickers can take more power and the components have a 6.75 option. For the coaxles in the rear soundbar, I really like that I can aim the tweeters towards the rear seat to provide passengers with more highs. My concern with the Inifinty ref coaxles is they can only handle 60 watts RMS but my amp pushes 75. I can also be convinced to use components in the sound bar, but I only have passengers occasionally and from what I hear the rear sound bar speakers don't add a lot to the front seat listening experience. I'll be using a pioneer GM-Dx975 to power everything, paired with the Fosgate DSR1 for fine tuning. I'll be using the factory wiring as well so perhaps that will make a difference? What are your thoughts?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Před 3 lety

      We do not recommend powering speakers with an amp that outputs watts greater than the top RMS watts handled by the speaker. It is best to use the Kicker KS series speakers with your amp

I wanted to replace the door speakers with the Reference 6530cx. Would I need an amp? If I do purchase one, does it have to be an infinity amp? (how do you know what works w/what?) Been a customer for the past 25 years. I recently spent over a thousand of car speakers from Crutchfield, and I am not done yet working on my 2023 Sienna. I was going to get the Infinity Reference REF-6532ix today for the 3rd row speakers. Because of the distance (rear install), this should be a perfect choice due to it's 3ohm impedance, high frequency response located near my powered sub. BUT, unfortunately, Crutchfield stopped carrying these speakers or maybe ALL of the Infinity Reference speakers, why?

      @@crutchfield Thank you for the info. You guys are great as always. I just finished installing three days ago, the Audiofrog GS690 (for the front door speakers), Audiofrog GS25 ( for the dash) and it was exact fit. The Audiofrog GS690 (for the front door speakers), needed a 6x9 speaker adapter which I have to re-drill the two holes to match the door mounts, and PowerBass PS-ADF110T which were all purchased from your store.
      I am running them with the Kicker Key 200.4 sound processor set on a Bi-Amp Mode. The sound is amazing but the PowerBass PS-ADF110T only worked after I used the Kicker 46KISLOC2, because the factory radio's output is too weak to drive the sub's high level input.
      Very happy with the sound quality, but I still want to replace the 3rd row's factory 6.5" speakers with Infinity's 3 ohm speakers so I will look into the link you just provided.

      Hello Jorge!
      We would be happy to help you out with determining which speaker would work best for you.
      In order to really provide you with the best information and advice for your needs, we would need to gather a little more information on what your personal musical taste is like, as well as information regarding the type of amplification you will be using to power the speakers with.
      Typically speaking, the Infinity Kappa 60.11CS will have a bit of a more robust lower end frequency, and improved accuracy since they are using a glass fiber woofer cone which improves performance.

      Hi!
      The REF-6522ix, were discontinued a couple of years ago, but they were replaced with the REF-6532IX. These feature the same specs, including the push button attenuation option for elevating the high frequencies if needed. The REF-6532IX had a very, very minor face lift by using a grille that is glossy black around the sides of the grilles, versus the matte-silver finish that was used on the REF-6522ix.

      The amp in that vehicle has outputs for each driver. This means treble is not being sent to the lower front door location. Installing a new speaker can help make the midbass and part of the midrange audio cleaner; maybe even a little louder.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Před rokem

      There are more differences than just the power. The 6530cx are component speakers and come with a separate tweeter (helpful when there is a location like a dash speaker in the pickup). The REF-6532ex are coaxial speakers with the tweeter physically built onto the woofer. This is helpful when you are not going to use the stock tweeter location anymore or there is no tweeter location like the rear doors.

      @crutchfield  Před 3 lety +1

      Both the JBL Club as well as the Infinity Reference lines of speakers, offer a very sharp, clean detail, on their higher end and midrange frequencies.
      The JBL Club series speakers, depending on if you are looking for a coaxial or component set, may offer a bit more filler on the mid-bass range, since they do use a silk tweeter, versus a textile tweeter that is used in the Infinity Reference line.

    I'm considering these as a replacement for the RF 4x6s in the front dash on my 05 TJ Wrangler. Even after adding a four channel amp the 4x6s still get drowned out by the 5.25 two-way above my head in the rollbar. Do these come with the appropriate adapter bracket (4x6 to 5.25) for the front dash or would that have to be a separate purchase? I figured with the 5.25s blasting right above my head any 4x6 will not be adequate so with 5.25 components in the front that would do a better job balancing what little sound stage I have in the Jeep.

      The current model Reference series is not able to be installed as a bottom mount speaker (comes up from behind the speaker mounting surface) which is the way our 4x6 to 5-1/4" mounts work to hold this size speaker in place. 2) Is it a stupid idea to mix and match different brands of speakers, e.g. 3 Ohm Infinities Reference 6x9 in the back with 2.3 Ohm JBL GX628 6.5 in the front? Could this work or is it better to go 3 Ohm Infinity all around?

      Given this is a non-Bose system and you are referring to a 2 ohm speaker, I believe you are referring to 6x9 woofers in the rear deck. They only produce bass which are the most power hungry audio frequencies. I fear that even with the increased sensitivity of the Infinity speakers, their output will be less than the stock. Amps are included to help provide power the times more is needed to meet the goals. What changes are you hoping to make to the sound you are getting now from that stock setup?

      We do not have any research information on your Ranger to help diagnose the issue. We do know that sometimes factory speakers have lower ohms than aftermarket speakers and when that happens, the bass suffers. Sometimes there are audio guides that are installed on the speaker to help "funnel" the bass through paneling to make it more noticeable in the cab of the pickup.

      It looks like for the front doors of your 2001 Cabrio the mounting height minimum is the main issue. The Sony XS-162ES components may work with simply using the included speaker grilles instead of the factory grilles that came on the doors of your Cabrio. The tweeters will need a custom bracket made like we mentioned previously. We do not have many options at all that will fit in the depth available in the rear panel location, sadly. For installing something custom you could consider using a surface mount pod in the rear like the RetroSound RPOD6A below. These can accept speakers with a depth up-to 2.16" and are custom mounted.
