I’ve had a lot of Poke in the states and they never looked like this. It seems like this place you went to is still finding their feet in their menu. You also are taking a risk when you eat raw food anywhere but it absolutely should not have made you sick. Sorry it turned out to be a sucky experience. :(

as someone who has lived in hawaii they’re entire life… go to hawaii and get actual fresh poke it’s really good and i’ve never gotten sick from it
Funny thing is: Some of the foods aren't even from Hawaii. They just made up some food, put some tropical fruits on it (like Pineapples), and call it "Hawaiian".

this is why in most cases the "exotic" restaurants in Italy do not have a long life, except the Chinese ones which for a lower price give a more than adequate quantity of food and also with a better taste.
Now I'm hungry for Chinese, and they always adapt their fast food a bit for the local situation.

Hawaiian fan here, I'm going to say NO, that's not good enough to be called Hawaiian Poke. There was no raw fish at all.
Poke is the Hawaiian word meaning to cut/slice. Poke is best made with high quality, fresh tuna, tossed in soy sauce, onions, sometimes seaweed, etc. There are so many variations.
Poke bowls aren't bad but I wouldn't eat all the extra stuff. Poke + rice is enough for me. I should send you guys a video on discord to give you an idea of what it is.
P.S. sorry about the food poisoning.
Poke is becoming very popular here in Italy, I noticed even in my small city there's 4-5 new Poke shops.
The one I tried was very good, with fresh tuna and I didn't feel bad after, although I bet in Hawaii they are much better! Anyway it's quite expensive for the italian market, a medium bowl was like 12€.. Can you tell me how much is a medium bowl in Hawaii?
@@scubbasan Depends on where you go but it's around $12 USD and they put a lot of fish on it (1/3lb). One of my fav places in Hawaii is Ono Seafood. Cheapest option is local groceries in Hawaii. You can get 1lb of fresh poke for $14-$15 (and it won't give you food poisoning).

Ppl trying to replicate poke do too much. Simple, fresh, good quality ingredients are all you need!
Ima check out Ono Seafood. Tamura's was my jam, but they got really inconsistent. Fresh Catch is a treat yo self day LoL Their plate lunches are meeeeaaannn.
