I’ve been working on a fairly similar theme and this is super inspiring! Definitely one of my favorite islands I’ve seen I love city stuff but I feel like no one ever mixes color in the way that I try to unless they’re doing kidcore which isn’t really what I’m going for

For the part by the flower fields, you could move your campsite up there and give it a campground vibe? That's what I did, but it also goes with the theming of my island so idk if it goes as well with your more civic style.

I’m SO happy the first villager I saw on your island was Marcel. He’s always been my absolute favourite villager since I had him in New Leaf once, and he was just so cute!!!
i would describe your island as kidtowncore! i have a towncore island too (but its a winter lake town). some builds i have that maybe you could incorporate too: train station, gyroid hill, hiking trail, kabuki's outdoor spa, merry's pie and jam shop, camofrog's bait shop/fish market, a bank, an amusement park, a concert center, and a snack shop!

(In answer to how u said u weren’t sure what theme ur island fits bc it’s rural in some parts and city-like in others),
I’m sure people have told u this many times before, but dw about finding a set theme for ur island. Even in real life, small towns, while the houses are usually spread out and there’s a lot of surrounding land on every property , (usually) always have to have more “city-like” areas where there are grocery stores, other essential stores, etc.

Your island gives me small-town suburbia vibes, where you have to drive several miles to get to the city shops. Like something you'd find in Texas. Haha I love it!
My island is a woodland/ fairy core/ star core (???) basically a lot of paths, a lot of cedar trees, A LOT of star frags, and each villager has a yard made specifically for them :)

OMG the flower field thing happened to me too on my first island TOT i had like normcore type for like a year and then changed my mind to fairycore and once irealized that i had let a bunch of flowers sit on my island for a year I WAS SCAREd im pretty sure if iput all of the flowers together i had enough to cover HALF my island-

I think it depends on what items you can use and can’t use since some items are just for decorations only unless it’s an item that will say do you wanna craft or do you wanna cook.

I fixed my flower overgrowning problem on my island by switching ordinances I switched to early bird where everybody has to be up early and greet the morning and shops have to open up early.

I dont even have the beautiful island ordinance since im usually a night player but i feel like all of a sudden my island is ALL flowers and im constantly removing them! I need to do the see through tile trick but it sounds like so much work
It's definitely worth it. I never have to worry about flowers breeding again and breaking shovels because of it. Just do it little by little and you get it done faster than you think 👌
