I feel so bad cause I just did a client who wants 0 warmth in her hair….. I explained how her highlights will disappear if we tone down to ash and we should start with toning lighter and just neutralize the warmth. She had pretty soft warm highlights but decided to retone to ash…. So I did. She ended up looking EXACTLY as she walked in the door, just cooler. The highlights were gone. 4 hours and $350 later she could have just paid for a glossing.

Wow this is so helpful I just used 5-21 to tone down orange hair and omg it turned my brown hair to blue 🤭how much would you add of that if you were to mix it with a level 6 for example?

Another helpful video! A somewhat unrelated question: have you tried the new schwarzkopf blondme precision? Supposedly it's not supposed to bleed. Would it make sense only in a root touch up situation (as implied by the company) or also in highlighting bigger regrowth maybe to lower the chances of overlapping?

I’ll have to look! I just bought the repackaged lightener but didn’t know it was a new formulation….

They say the new formula has anti metal technology for buildup (well water, and hard water in general ). But they also added a new lightener to the line. Look for the word "precision. " I'll try to find a link

Hi Kristi, I went for an appointment yesterday to go natural ash with silver tone, like the photo you see of me which is enhanced with face ap photography. Im growing out and had 3" roots. Long short is Im now very lemony and brassy and she kept me there about 2 hours after the time frame I gave her. I said I have this much time what can you do?? Im an older woman with a lot of salon experience and in my world when you dont deliver on a hair color you dont pay, or not full price. Is that your policy as well?
Im asking because she charged my 400$ for a color that both of us agreed is not what I came for...she wanted to keep me there to work on it but I couldnt stay any longer.
What is the protocol in todays salon world? There was no discussion of price in advance and I paid a 50$ deposit plus gave her and additional 100 for the trim she did dry before we started. Should I expect to pay for a custom color that is not what was agreed upon?

There’s lots of things I’m seeing in this that are wrong in my opinion…….
Services like these can take hours, so it’s best not to even do the service if there’s a rush to be done by because there’s no way that you can expect how long the service will take. It could take five hours it could take 12 hours who knows…… I can’t really judge by the service because I can’t really see very well. Your picture and what you were wanting and also what you came out with, so I’m not really sure what to say about that, but I will say as far as the price goes that these services are generally $100 an hour for me at least and can be up to $800 or more from start to finish. I don’t really go by discounting services or not paying for services anymore because this isn’t the world of hair where 15 years ago services were much more simpler and the most somebody would ever pay is $150 for a full highlight and haircut and if you’re not happy then, I guess you can get reimbursed but now the services are so much work that can take all day and to not get paid for that is kind of ridiculous, however, if you’re not happy, then there needs to be a new appointment scheduled to finish the service and you paid for the work that she did that day and she still wanted to do more but you just weren’t able to stay so I don’t think that it would be wrong for her to charge you to complete the rest of the service. Also, it’s hard to really say anything about the situation because I don’t know about the consultation. I don’t know what was said in the consultation what did you guys go over so based off of just the brief information that you’ve given me this is kind of how I feel about it. Where she is wrong as a hairstylist is if she did not go over the consultation and say what’s your budget and let me do what I can to work within your budget which could very well mean that you’re not gonna get what you want if you’re only willing to pay a certain amount which happens a lot so another thing is if she didn’t tell you I don’t know how long the service might take because there’s lots of times where I think a service is going to be three hours and I end up being there for six hours. Once you get in the hair there’s just no telling how long it’s gonna take what the hair is gonna do what the next step is going to be so she should’ve just said come back when we have all day to spend on your hair if that’s what you’re willing to pay
