    The Paradigm 6 is my favourite long distance slow running shoe. I hated the firm heavy dull bricks of the past iterations and this one is so differen!

    Great head to head. Past Paradigm's have fit great, the new version with the narrower footshape not so good. I have had the Via Olympus for little over a month and couldn't be happier. Nice to have a Altra original footshape not in a trail shoe. Lone Peak and Olympus have been good fitting shoes in the Altra line. Hope that the Via holds up over the miles and hope Altra stays with this version if it does.

      I agree for the majority of people, but as someone with narrow feet, I've rly enjoyed the current paradigm

    I totally agree with you about the gusseted tongue issue. I really love the arch support feel of my brand-new Paradigm 6 so much but the tongue just keeps sliding to the side which is quite annoying after a short run. So I have to switch back to my old school Saucony Tempus and wait for the next Paradigm 7

    The Olympus is my go-to long run trail shoe. I like the Vanish Tempo, but it dos feel a little too narrow for me. The VIA Olympus looks like it may be the best of both worlds. Thanks for your great review!

    I run in Paradigm 4.0-treadmill, Paradigm 6.0 on the road and at a Fleet Feet Run Crew a demo of the Olympus. LOVE the Olympus! Saving for a pair to replace my road trainers.
    Hate the colors offered to women, though. YUCK! The men get that great blue.

    Great review! Kudos to that!
    I was really hoping via Olympus would bring back the original paradigm (1 and 2) feeling - soft, light and springy right out of the box, but apparently not the case. What happened?
    Still this I feel also happened with newer versions of the Hoka (7 and 8) where you have to put in at least 100 miles before you get that mellow yet bouncy sensation. An update to this review to see if that is the case with via Olympus would really be appreciated. Great job!!

    Coming from the Arahi 6 to Torin 6, I’ve fallen in love with the Torin 6. So I’m a little disappointed with the firmness of the Via Olympus. Was hoping for a little more cushion to help with recovery.

    Wanted the paragim have had 3 of the last model the newer one is more narrow and the stabilizer was pushing into the inside of my foot, huge fan of the oylmpus trail shoes , I have 2 pair of the newest model so excited for a road version, I know it's a small thing but I dislike all the colors, whish they would just make a med or dark grey in the shoes

    I have both shoes. In via Olympus I had to get a half size smaller. I have narrow feet. I actually like the rocker action. The feel is stiffer in the cushion. Had some inserts made at road runner and hope they do the charm. Love paradigms 6 cause of my narrow feet cushion feels great. These shoes I use mainly are for walking since I hit up major steps at Disney and knotts berry farm. Recently developed plantar fasciitis using an older pairs for longer than I should have and weigh gain. Hopefully recent weigh loss however will help fix it as well.

    Maybe you feel the midsole of the via olympus so firm cause you are no so heavy, and maybe a 90+kg runner can feel this midsole more softy?

    Great video 🙏🙏 i am 450 miles in my p6 and they hole up really well. Sure the outsole is wore down where i land but other than that they are very Good quality!

  • @f_youtubecensorshipf_nazis

    My 2nd toe(one next to big toe) rubs on the same size "slim" and doesn't on the classic size. It makes buying altras a PITA. I shouldn't have to assume a 12 won't fit me sometimes because they used a template that got shorter as they widen the toe box. I can picture someone just clicking and adjusting the width and not noticing they took a couple mm off the length.
    Considering they just got sold the cheaping out on design is a bad sign.

    Tks Ryan, great review. Firmer foam than the provision6-7? Think will skip this one. Will stick with my paradigm and provision 6s. Lately though i feel my asics kayano 28s are so much softer and forgiving that i keep reaching for them 😅

    • @RyansRunningReviewsYT

      The firm foam makes them very stable. Once you get used to it it's fine. I just wished it was as bouncy as something like the Mont Blanc

    Altra Via Olympus or HOKA BONDI 7/8? Which one is preferred and why?

    • @weuek
      @weuek Před rokem

      They're completely different choices. The Bondi is designed for diamond-shaped feet (triangular toe-box).

    • @jeffc7502
      @jeffc7502 Před rokem +1

      @@weuek Thank you for the comment and adding to the conversation.
      I agree in that it doesn’t have a foot shaped design but the BONDI 7 is actually wide by design (even the “D” width is wider than most “D” width; BONDI is also available in 2E and 4E width as well). Both are “max cushion” and advertised as a “recovery shoe.”
      Now that I own both, I would mention the density of the midsole also differs (the BONDI is much more plush whereas the Via Olympus is much more firm), yet both have a rocker design in the midsole, which helps in the overall motion forward.
      Also notable, the 4mm vs 0mm drop is similar but subtly different when it comes to the feel of the foot strike.
      NOTE: additional comments are added for other prospective buyers.

    • @weuek
      @weuek Před rokem

      @@jeffc7502 I had them. Returned them to the shop. The 2E or even 4E doesn't matter here, since the toebox remains badly shaped.

    • @weuek
      @weuek Před rokem +1

      @@jeffc7502 The Clifton is more plush than the Bondi, way too much in version 8. The Bondi has a very wide base, but the upper is average. I assume it may be better for someone around 100kg.

    • @jeffc7502
      @jeffc7502 Před rokem

      @@weuek Sorry to hear the BONDI didn’t work for you, but it has certainly found it’s place in my rotation. The footshape of the Via Olympus is a totally different animal in-and-of itself. I very much appreciate this original foot shape from Altra, and have found a similar feel in some of Topo Athletic shoes (which range from 0-5 mm drop).

    Are zero drop shoes appropriate for someone with wide feet and high arches?

    • @brettrohlfingvideo

      IMO zero drop is appropriate for everyone because it's how humans are designed to stand/walk/run.
