I saw some online discourse when the sale was happening debating the ethics of opening up his house to the public for this type of sale. However, there were six months between his death and this sale, so I imagine his family were able to choose what would be important to them, and with a house this expansive, a lot of things pile up that would be too much for one family to keep. While I’m not sure that having the entire house open to the public was the way to do this, I’m glad that his fans had the chance to give his possessions a second home and be able to truly appreciate where they came from.
I tried to be as respectful as possible of the whole situation in this video, so please also be respectful in the comments.

I hired an amazing estate company after my mother died. Their handling of it all took a tremendous weight off my shoulders. Some people let me know what they purchased and sent me pics of them using it or displaying. Since I couldn’t possibly use or keep all of my mother’s things, it made me feel good that someone else was enjoying it. My mother is in my heart and in my memories, not in her things, so please feel good about helping Alex Trebek’s family.

However, anything more advanced, was beyond me. So good luck with that saw. I'm sure that , because you are young and artistic, you will progress more than me. I have since , sold mine. Some tips for you Karen on cutting that puzzle piece: Practice A LOT on the Scroll saw before attempting to cut the puzzle piece. Using a Scroll Saw takes practice. You can also buy the 'manual' version of a scroll saw, called a 'Coping Saw'. Because your turns are tight on the puzzle piece, you will need a THIN blade in either case - short distance between the edge of the teeth and the opposite 'smooth' edge.

Thank you for sharing this video, and for your donation to PanCAN. I can't wait to see you use the scroll saw, and it would be great if your first puzzle with it was either the jeopardy logo or a PanCAN purple puzzle :)

You are such a pleasure and joy to watch! The way you filmed, edited, and took such care with Mr. Trebek's privacy is so special! I am sure that the is smiling and loving the fact that you bought that saw. It was meant to be yours! I also wanted to say: you inspire my son Adam (10) and me all the time. Not only with your puzzle skills but with how you speak, edit and create all your videos.

Alex will surely be missed. Thank you for sharing your experience! His home was very nice and honestly, even though the house was amazing, his furnishings and decorating made it feel like a home any of us would have. :)

Awesome!! Good find! Can you put some videos up of you cutting the puzzle pieces? I recently bought a scroll saw to make my own puzzles too!

I think it's so weird that the public can just go and buy anything that was pretty much left exactly how the person had it when they were alive. That being said I think it's also great that this stuff can go to people who appreciate it and have use for it instead of ending up in a landfill.

That's the premise of an estate sale though... It's so much easier/cheaper for the family to not have to move everything into some sort of storage facility only to have to move back what doesn't sell before potentially donating it. I agree it feels a little invasive but thankfully I don't think the person who died cares anymore, whether they're in a better place and released from earthly worries like embarrassment or solely becoming a part of the ground again.

I know that had to be really odd to do, but it's great that you did it and gave a second life to something that was his. Also amazing that you are donating to his cause even in his passing.

I 100% was stalking the Jeopardy subreddit to see the cool finds people got from this sale… I’m so jealous!!!
